Chapter 10 - Oil and water

"I hope so as well," Amara said.

"What do you want to do next? I mean, we already watched two movies. If you want to watch more than we can but do you want to do anything else other than that?" Nicolas asked.

"I am not sure what I want to do but I don't feel watching TV anymore. I need to discuss what I am going to do next with you. I just can't sit here all day long. I obviously have to work," Amara said.

Nicolas haven't thought about this before. But now that she bought it up, he knew that she should do something by herself.

He was more than ok with providing for her. He has been providing for lots of pack members as well but her thing was different.

The pack members he has been providing for are too small. They can't work on their own and he doesn't want to put pressure on their parents.

Plus, he has been only earning until now. He really doesn't have any place to spend them.

Hence, he provides for the little pack members even if they have parents who can comfortably provide for them.

But he had a few rules. After becoming a teenager, the little pack members must get a job.

The goal was to make them feel more independent.

"You are right. What do you want to do? What are your educational qualifications?" He asked because he couldn't decide something without knowing her qualifications.

"I am done with high school. I graduated with a pretty high cgpa which was 3.98. But my attendance were really low and they won't have let me graduate had my grade hasn't been this high. I was allowed to only give the exams since I had work to do almost the entire day. But sometimes if I got lucky, I was allowed to visit the school," she took a deep breath.

"I have only been to my school 9 times in my entire life expect exams."

Nicolas was so shocked that he couldn't even hide his expression.

"Shocking,I know. And lots of pack members were also a part of the same school. Which means I was bullied in school as well," Amara said.

She was sounding bitter about everything and she was bitter about it to be honest.

Anyone in her place would be. She was treated poorly her entire life and coming out of it like nothing isn't that easy.

People take years to get over a incident or trauma they got by someone in a week.

Hence, her talking about her traumas the whole day won't be a wrong thing to do.

"Are you angry about it? If yes then don't be. Anger is a punishment you give yourself for others mistake. Don't harm yourself. They are going to die one day anyways," Nicolas said and Amara nodded her head.

"I am not. I just want to be the best version of myself," Amara said.

"And how are you going to be your best version? I mean, what do you see in your best version? Is she a mean girl? If yes then don't be it. You don't have to act tough to be your best version, I promise."

"It's not. Let me tell you my vision of how I want to be. I will walk into a room like I own it. I will say thank you to everyone for the tiniest help. I will thank the waiter/waitress for bringing me food. I will thank the driver for driving me to my destination. I will thank my assistant for bringing me my documents. I will praise everyone for their efforts. I will smile when I want. I will stay true to myself. I don't have to appear mysterious or cold to be unapproachable. I don't have to go around with that cold or powerful aura. I don't have to always stand straight and professional. I will be childish yet mature, just how I am. I will be responsible yet sensitive. I will walk around like a innocent child yet I will be the powerful one. I will own everything. I will become everything I want to be and for that, I don't have to push everyone away. I will be that fragile flower with beautiful thorns. I will be touchable yet untouchable. I will be unstoppable yet free. I don't want someone looking at me and be like ' I want to be her'. No! I want them to say," I want to be my best version, just like she's her best version'."

By the time Amara finished, Nicolas was impressed by her. Her vision was better than what he expected.

He liked the way of her thinking.

"Your best version sounds great to be honest. You are going to reach that level one day if you work hard starting now. I will help you as much as I can,I promise."

Amara gave him a grateful smile.

"So what profession should I choose? I don't have a college degree hence I need to get admission in a college first."

Nicolas nodded his head.

"You do."

"I also want to do a part time job in the meantime. College is expensive and before joining in for college, I need to have enough money in my account. I can even apply for a degree online. I won't have to attend college physically this way," Amara shared her plan and Nicolas said that it was amazing.

The next few minutes they talked about how Amara was going to achieve her goals.

"I have a offer for you. I need a personal assistant since my current personal assistant is about to take a nine months leave since she is pregnant. She said that she will get back after fully recovering. You can join in her place. You can gain experience in the meantime and I won't have to waste another day searching for a new assistant."

Amara for some reason didn't like the idea of another woman around Nicolas.

She didn't know who that woman was but she was already feeling jealous of her.

She didn't like how Nicolas put the entire thing before her either.

It seems as if he was asking her to take another woman's place.

But she agreed despite that odd feeling.

"So let's do a small interview. Tell me why I should hire you? My company is pretty famous and we have more than one hundred people coming every day for the post we are offering you. Why should we hire you and not them?" Nicolas switched to another tone that was entirely new to her.

She wasn't used to this Nicolas. He was too serious for her liking but she needed to convince him.

"I need money, I am desperate for it which means I am going to accept whatever challenge you throw at my way and find a way out of it because I have to keep this job. I can't afford to lose it. I am going to keep my entire mind in completing the tasks you are going to give me which leaves me with zero time to speak bad things about you or scam against you," she paused.

"In short, the fear of losing this job is going to motivate me to work harder since I can't afford to lose it. You are going to get yourself a hardworking worker like me in return. I can make amazing coffee and I can talk to people over phone perfectly. I have good communication skills and my voice is beautiful. I am also beautiful. You will get more clients due to my beauty. Hence you should just hire me."

Amara doesn't know what she was saying. Her speech obviously wasn't enough to convince Nicolas or anyone to hire her.

"Hm,let me think. Your convincing skills ain't that good. I will rate it 3 out of 10. But since you are so confident in your beauty and voice, I will give you a chance."

"Thank you so much, boss," Amara got up and stood straight, giving Nicolas a salute.

Nicolas couldn't help but chuckle at her antics.

"By the way, we were in the room for a long time. We should probably go out and roam around a little. A little exercise is never harmful for our health," Nicolas said and Amara agreed to go out with him immediately.

"Sure, I want to go back and visit the forest. I couldn't see it perfectly while coming here since you were running too fast. I want to take a walk around the forest," Amara said getting up.

"Let's go then. But before that, let me go and change my shirt real quick," Nicolas said before running to the next room.

In the meantime, Amara decided to comb her hair at the dressing table.

"I look just perfect," she winked at herself before looking back only to find Nicolas entering in the room.

She wasn't exactly confident in her body but she was trying to be.

They said, fake it till you make it and she took it too personally and started living her life with this motto.

"I am ok now. Let's go," he said while grabbing her hands.

A gasp left from her mouth but Nicolas ignored it. He wasn't going to let go of her hands even if she forces him now.

The area was dangerous even though it was his territory. Roughs can't be trusted and neither can be his enemies.

They might attack on their pack anytime or try to attack.

Since she was now one of his priorities, saving her was a priority as well.

And to protect her,to ensure her safety, he had to be with her the whole time.

They were about to go out when they heard a voice shouting at top of their lungs.

An unknown girl entered in the house without even knocking. Her eyes were closed yet her mouth was running nonstop.

A big smile was playing on the edges of her lips as if she has own a lottery and she didn't look a day older than Amara.

If anything, she looked way younger than her and she was really beautiful.

"Ok, now let's talk about the bad boy who claims to be a good boy.

The handsome alien who's looks are borrowed from another planet.

The person whom I never saw face to face but still has casted a spell on my heart.

The guy who have world's most handsome face but still is blessed with a childlike, pure heart.

Who can melt your heart with boxy smile and still can give you heart attacks with his killer looks.

Who can make you laugh with his silly antics and still can leave you gaping for oxygen just by looking into his eyes.

The guy who hides his inner pain with a beautiful smile.

Who's name I keep on chanting everyday like a heartfelt prayer.

Who make all my pain disappear just by thinking about him, Nicolas.

The love of my life,my idol,my happy pill.

I may not know him for a long time but still know enough to confirm that he is precious, wait, who are you?"

The unknown girl asked Amara who was holding Nicolas's hands.

And Nicolas felt like saying out loud that here comes the oil.

Amara aka the water was looking at the other girl aka oil with confusion.

While the other girl aka Oil was looking at her with jealousy and hatred.

Amara could already tell that the other girl doesn't like her but what she could say more confidently is she doesn't care whether she likes her or not.

What was important to her is that girl's jealous gaze.

As a woman, Amara could easily understand what another woman was thinking just by looking at their gaze and this woman have feelings for Nicolas.

And this reason alone was enough for Amara to feel a little nervous.
