Aurora James - POV
As the wind blew past me, I got a sniff of various scents when I came to a screeching halt. I can find him using his scent! I know that would not be easy, but I think it is better than running on a wild goose chase.
I closed my eyes and relaxed my body as I focused on the one scent that was etched into my mind. Five minutes later, when a light wind blew my way, I got a hint of cinnamon and oranges. I opened my eyes and followed that scent into the forest.
I looked around my surroundings when a soft smile graced my face. The tall trees formed a canopy to prevent the harsh rays of the sun from penetrating inside, which left the atmosphere cold and pleasant. I looked around my surroundings, and I saw the beautiful colored flowers on the forest ground along with different kinds of plants and shrubs.
It was a pleasant sight to see and the scent of my mate made something within me stir. Lily was jumping for joy within me while the scent of oranges and cinnamon only got stronger the deeper I walked into the forest, arousing my sexual desires.
"Beta Perez!" I screamed as I heard my voice echo in the otherwise quiet surroundings. "Beta Perez!" it was not an easy task to find him using his scent because everywhere I turned, I was consumed by his scent, it was like he had marked his territory.
I had been walking in this forest for the past thirty minutes, and there was still no sight of Beta Perez. My throat felt like I had swallowed a lump of sand, and I felt my muscles ache after walking around in my three-inch heels.
I stopped for a moment to catch my breath. "What are you doing here?" I heard a growl behind me, which made me abruptly turn around when my heels got tangled with a root, and I fell face-first on the muddy ground.
I looked up when I saw him staring at me with an indifferent look on his face.
Doesn't he have the brain to help a woman up if she had fallen?
How am I going to spend the rest of my life with an idiot like him!
"I thought you didn't want him as our mate?" Lily mocked.
"Would you shut up!" I growled as I got up from the ground and dusted my hands and clothes.
"Your father has come to the pack, and he is waiting to meet you," I told him while he stood as still as a statue. I took this moment to look at him when I felt my body heat up. His abs were on full display, and I saw a thin layer of perspiration on his tanned skin while my eyes traveled down to see that he was only wearing a pair of basketball shorts.
"Mate looks delicious." Lily moaned as she thought about the night we shared, making my cheeks heat up.
"Shut up, Lily!" I warned her as I blocked her out. With one final look at him, I began to walk away. I was about to walk past him when he took hold of my hand and pulled me to stand in front of him. The crystal blue color of his eyes was now a deep black, I felt my heart pound against my chest. "Beta Perez." I stammered.
"How can you tell everyone that Levi is your mate when I am still alive, Aurora?" his voice was deeper, and I knew that it was his wolf speaking.
I shook my head as I took a step back, but he took one forward till he trapped me against the tree. I felt my hand throbbing in pain as his hold on it got tighter. "Beta Perez, let me go," I warned him when a sinister smile formed on his face.
"You are my mate, Aurora."
"You never accepted me as your mate, Beta Perez."
"That fool might deny the connection. But I love you, Aurora." his wolf growled when he grabbed my other hand and pinned it against the tree bark as he stepped close to me so that I had absolutely no way to escape.
I felt my heartbeat increase. I was supposed to feel the fear of him so close to me, but all I felt was the millions of tingles traveling through my body while my core throbbed in want as I felt him pressed against me.
"Lily, do something!" I yelled, but she was yelping in joy at her mate being so close to her.
"I don't like to share, Aurora." Beta Perez said when I felt his face move closer to mine while I struggled to get my hands free, but his grip was so strong.
Tears began flowing down my cheeks when I felt his hot breath on my neck. If the circumstances were different, I would have gladly let him mark me, but his words from this morning kept swirling in my mind. He hates me to the core, and I don't think I can live with a person who hates me for the rest of my life.
"Let me go!" I yelled when I felt his canine scrape my skin. If he pressed a little deeper, the mark would be sealed, and we would never be able to undo the bond between us.
"Beta Perez!" I heard someone yell, which broke Beta Perez from whatever trance he was in as he took two large steps away from me, and he stared at me in horror. I was panting as the tears rolled down my cheeks.
For a second, I thought that everything was over as I looked away from Beta Perez at the person who saved me. My lips trembled when I saw Levi walking towards us. My glance locked with Zander to see that his eyes had returned back to their crystal blue color.
"Beta Perez, your father is waiting for you in your office," Levi informed as he came to stand in between Zander and me. He looked at us one last time before he stormed out of there.
