Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Aurora James - POV

"This is absurd!" I exclaimed as I placed the file on his desk and glared at him, but all he did was smirk at me as he took out a letter from his drawer and placed that on the desk as well.

"Please read this letter as well, Miss. James." He said in a mocking tone as I snatched the letter from his desk and began reading. The more I read, I felt the blood drain from my face.

"You can't do this." I breathed out.

"My word is final, Miss. James. If you want to join this pack, then I would have to give my approval letter to Alpha Lopez. Or I can even give him this." He said as he pointed to the letter that I was holding. "Which would allow me to kick you out of here right now."

"This is blackmailing, Beta Perez. I am not going to work as your personal assistant." I gritted out as he shook his head.

"You either work as my personal assistant. Or you don't get the shop and you will be kicked out of here as well. It's completely your choice." I began chewing my lips while my mind was swarmed with all kinds of thoughts.

"You shouldn't have provoked him earlier," Lily said, but I ignored her moved closer to his table, and grabbed the file. I took a pen from his pen holder, signed my name in the agreement, and closed the file.

"I will do anything to stay here," I said before I walked out of there. The entire day went by in a blur as I stayed cooped up in my room.

Knock knock.

"Aurora, are you in there?" It was Adrian, but I didn't answer. "Aurora, are you asleep?" He kept knocking for a few more minutes before I heard his retreating footsteps. I got into my bed and pulled the blanket closer to me as I fell into a dreamless sleep.

I woke up to the sound of the men shouting outside when I quickly pushed away the blanket and went to the French doors. As I looked outside, I saw the warriors were all running into the forest, shirtless.

What are they up to?

I was about to go downstairs and see what the issue was when I saw Beta Perez among the group as well. It didn't look like there was any issue when they stopped directly below my room. "We are going to run ten laps around the pack before training. Are you ready?" His voice was loud as the warriors nodded their heads before they began their training.

I made my way to the bathroom and quickly changed my workout clothes and made my way downstairs. "Aurora?" I stopped midway and turned around to see Adrian walk towards me with a coffee mug in his hand. "I didn't see you after training yesterday."

"I was exhausted, so I slept off."

"For the entire day?" He asked me, and I nodded my head.

"I am going out. I will see you around." I told him as I jogged out of the pack house. My training session finished earlier than I expected, and I quickly made my way to the pack house because I had to get ready for my first day of work.

After I took a shower, I wrapped a towel around myself and walked towards the second suitcase that was placed in the corner of my room, which I vowed to never open again. I sat down on the floor and opened it when I felt the nostalgic memories come back as well.

I thought I left the cooperate world when I came here, but I don't think it is that easy. I went through everything I had when I finally settled on a black silk blouse and black skirt. Once I wore my clothes, I did my hair in perfect curls and walked out of my room.

I knocked on his door and waited for his response.

"Come in, Miss James." I heard him call as I opened the door and walked inside. "You are five minutes late."

"I am sorry, it would not happen again," I said with a forced smile on my face. My eyes roamed his body when I saw that his hair was still damp from a shower, and he was wearing a black button-down shirt along with black slacks.

He does look good in black.

"This is the key to your shop." He said as he placed a small wooden box on his desk when a smile broke out on my face. "The place is a few meters away from the restaurant in town. It's quiet in a dilapidated state. You might have to get that done."

"Thank you, Beta Perez," I said as I took the key.

"This is your work for today." He said as he placed a tall tower of files on his desk, I gasped in shock. "These files have the names and other information of all the warriors we have recruited for this year. I want you to input all this information into our database."

"Okay, Beta Perez," I said and went over and took half of it. I am not going to complain because he gave me the key to the shop.

"Your office is next to mine, and I want this done before the end of the day." He said in a monotone.

"But that would take a long time."

"I don't care, Miss. James." He said in a careless tone as he walked closer to me. I felt my heartbeat pick up when he stopped an inch away from me. "You will also be managing all my calls for today and fix meetings according to my schedule, okay?" He asked me as he brought his hand closer to my face and lightly traced my cheek as my breathing hitched.

The sparks were barely there, but that was enough to make my body go into heat while I suppressed a moan. What the hell is he doing? My eyes fluttered close while my lungs were filled with the scent of oranges and cinnamon.

"Get to work, Miss James." He whispered in my ear as he pulled back and walked back to his desk as if nothing happened.

I don't know what game he is playing right now, but I don't think I would win if this continues.
