Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Aurora James - POV

He was shaking in anger as he curled his hands into fists. I wanted to apologize for yelling at him, but I kept my mouth shut, not wanting to make the situation worse. There was this look in his eyes which broke my heart. A guilty feeling crossed my mind.

He was about to shift into his wolf, and if he did that, I knew that he would easily lose control of his wolf, and that might not end well with me, but I stood still. He looked at me one last time as he stormed out of the shop through the back door, and he shifted into his wolf mid-air.

His brown fur was all a blur as he ran into the forest, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I shouldn't have raised my voice like that, but all the pent-up anger within me just burst out. Tears flowed down my cheeks while my eyes were glued to the place where I last saw Levi.

Have I lost a friend, I don't know. But he was the only person in that pack who took his time to speak to me and not ignore me like the rest of them. "He will come around," Lily reassured me.

"I hope so," I said as I looked down at the box that was in front of me.

I didn't want to go back to the pack yet because I was not ready to face Levi, so I began to sort out the papers that were inside that box. Time flew by, and it began to get dark outside while I managed to neatly arrange all the papers and clothes in separate bags that I found. The place was still a mess, but it was much better right now.

I got up from my place, closed the back door grabbed my handbag, and walked out of there. My leg felt much better compared to this evening, but I still felt the dull ache from my ankle. I locked the door of the shop, made my way to my car, and got in.

I looked out at the dark sky to see the full moon illuminating the lonely road. I put the car to drive and drove out of there. The eerie silence in the car made a serene feeling wash over me as I drove past the turning I should have taken.

I am not ready to go back to the pack yet because I have a feeling that Beta Perez isn't going to let my latest outburst slide that easily.

I came to the blue moon pack searching for solace, but all I got so far was more drama than I had signed up for. I was preoccupied with my thoughts, I didn't see the woman who crossed the road as she hit my car and fell to the ground when I hit the brakes. I ran out of the car towards her. "I am so sorry, are you all right?" I asked when she opened her eyes.

She was wearing a white crop top that was covered in blood and torn at the back, and there were a lot of scratch marks on her arms.

"It's not safe." She asserted as she got up from the floor and tried to run into the forest, but I held her hand.

"Let me help you," I told her as I ran to my car and tried to start it, but it would not start. The woman shook her head as she ran into the forest when I followed right behind her. "Don't run. Let me call someone." I told her as I took my phone out of my skirt pocket, but before I could dial, I felt something heavy hit my head, and I fell to the floor.

Excruciating pain shot through my spine and the back of my head as I turned around to see a grey wolf standing there with its teeth bared at me. The wolf was well built, letting me know that it was a male, but from its untamed fur and rough patches on its back, I knew that it was a rogue.

The rogue's eyes locked with the woman as he ignored me and took predatory steps towards her when she ran deeper into the forest. "Lily, we need to save her."

"Yes." She said as I got up on unsteady legs and closed my eyes. I felt my control slip away as Lily took over. Fur began to sprout on my skin when I heard the familiar break of my bones. As I opened my eyes, everything was much clearer.

I ran into the forest, where I saw the rogue had the woman pinned under him. I leaped in the air, knocking him off her when I bit his front leg, making him push me away. The rogue was furious as it charged at me, and before I could get up, his claw dug deep into my underbelly as I let out a painful howl.

Before he could do any more damage, I got up from the floor and tackled him to the ground, but he was stronger as he took a large chuck out from my neck and flunked me to the tree, making it break into two when I felt like something broke inside me as well.

I saw black dots appear in the corner of my eyes, and even the slightest movement made excruciating pain shoot through my body. The rogue looked at me to see that I was on my last breath as he walked closer to the woman on the floor.

I growled in warning, but the rogue didn't even turn around to acknowledge my presence. He walked closer to the woman and tore a large chunk out from her stomach while he maintained eye contact with me. I felt the tears dampen my fur as I tried to get up, but it was nearly impossible, it was like I was paralyzed.

The woman's screams made me growl even more, but the rogue didn't pay heed when he finally grabbed her neck and twisted it as I heard a crack echo in the forest. With a smile on its face, it ran out of there while the pain overtook my senses, and I lost consciousness.
