Aurora James - POV
Just as abruptly as the pain began, it stopped as I gasped for air. My body was drenched in sweat despite the air conditioner running as I looked down at my palms to see the blood drop to the wooden floor.
I had no idea who the caller was, and I shouldn't have said that, but I knew that the damage was done and I wouldn't be able to revoke it, but I did not care right now. I got up from the floor and sat on my chair as I took a few tissues, wiped away the sweat from my forehead, and dried my tears.
Lily had retreated to the back of my mind, refusing to speak as the tears kept streaming down my cheeks. I grabbed my handbag, got up from my place, and marched to his office. Before I could open his door, it opened inwards, and I saw the woman standing there with a satisfied look on her face. Her lipstick was smudged while her dress was hiked up with her butt on full display while she held her heels in her hands.
"I was about to come to your office, dear. Beta Perez wants to see you." She informed me as she walked past me. I walked inside the room when I felt a nauseous feeling wash over me at the scent of sex and sweat. "Did I receive any calls, Miss. James?" He casually asked me as if nothing happened.
His hair was a mess, and the top few buttons of his shirt were left open, showing me his toned chest. "I am taking a day off," I said in a monotone when he finally looked up at me.
"You still have an hour to leave, Miss. James." Beta Perez asserted when I felt the anger rising within me. "And I didn't receive the complete data of all the warriors yet." He said.
"If you can fuck any woman you want, at any time, then I have a right to leave this place any time I want," I told him when I saw his eyes get darker, but he didn't utter a word. I turned around and walked out of there.
I expected the tears to roll down my cheeks, but I didn't cry. I think there is no use in crying for something that was never yours in the first place. My mind was preoccupied with the pain I felt earlier when my ankle twisted, and I fell all the way down.
"What happened!"
"Aurora!" I heard someone scream, but I didn't even know who said what when excruciating pain shot through my ankle. I looked down at my right ankle to see that it was swollen and red, there was a huge cut on my left elbow.
"Get an ice pack." I looked up when I saw Levi run out of there and Adrian rushed towards me. He picked me up bridal style as I wrapped my hands around his neck.
"What's the hurry?"
"I didn't see where I was walking." I lied when he gently placed me on the sofa. He walked to the end of the sofa, removed my heels, and placed them on the floor as he examined my foot.
"That is definitely a fracture." Adrian voiced out when I saw Levi walk into the living room. He gave the ice pack to Adrian, who gently placed it on my swollen ankle as I hissed in pain. But this was not as painful as the pain I felt when Beta Perez was cheating on me just a few minutes ago.
"How long does this take to heal?"
"Ten hours." He answered, and I nodded my head.
"Why were you rushing down the stairs with those heels?" Levi asked me.
"I got the keys to the shop in town, so I was going to see that."
"And I don't think you can go anywhere now," Adrian said, but I didn't say anything.
"Let me treat that wound," Levi said as he brought a first aid kit and sat on the wooden table as he extended his hand. I placed my hand on his, as he turned it around and began wiping away the blood. It was not a big cut, but it was still painful as he applied some antibiotic cream on it.
"Don't you have a training session with new recruits, Adrian?" I heard a familiar voice that I had begun to despise.
"The training finished early, so I came here to have something to eat before I went to the main pack," Adrian answered, but I could feel his eyes on me. As I looked up, I saw Beta Perez's eyes lock with mine as it roamed down my body when it finally landed on my ankle. I saw him wince as he looked at Levi.
"We were walking into the pack house when we saw Aurora come tumbling down the stairs, Beta Perez. She has fractured her ankle." Levi explained. I didn't feel like staying in here anymore as I tried to get up from the sofa when Adrian pushed me back down.
"Where are you going?" He asked me with a frown.
"Out," I answered as I got up and placed my feet on the floor. But the moment I put my weight on it, excruciating pain shot through it, making me almost fall back if it wasn't for Levi's hand.
"Could you carry me to my car, Levi?" I asked him, and he nodded his head. He placed his hand under my shoulder, and when he was about to lift me, beta Perez intervened.
"I want you to conduct the training session for the warriors, Levi."
"But…okay, Beta…"
"He is coming with me," I stated, making Adrian and Levi look at me as if they just saw a ghost.
"Miss. James, you are not going out anywhere with that leg, and Levi is going out to conduct that…"
"I am going out, and Levi is coming with me," I said with finality as I dragged him out with me, but halfway out of the living room, Levi wrapped his hand around my waist and supported me to walk out.
