Beta Zander Perez - POV
Her breathing was coming in short gasps while my lungs were filled with the scent of gardenia and lemon. As a matter of fact, the entire house was consumed by her scent, and the only thought that was running through my mind right now was to take her back to my room and have my way with her.
"It would not happen again, Beta Perez," she replied in a monotone as she stared deep into my eyes through the mirror. I know I should hate her, and push her away. But I was gradually being consumed by Alan's strong feelings towards her while I felt the jealousy brew within me. She abruptly turned around, about to leave, when my grip on her waist tightened as I pushed her against the mirror.
She is my mate, and I will not let another wolf claim her as his. "Why were you in my house, Miss. James?" I asked her when I saw her eyes widen in fear, but she soon masked it with anger.
"I left this in your room that morning. So I came to take it back." she asserted when she showed me her earrings. A frown formed on my face.
"You should have waited till I came back then." I retorted when she rolled her eyes as her tiny hands wrapped around my biceps, and she tried to push me away.
"I didn't want to get in your way, Beta Perez. Now, please move," she said as I stared into her eyes. I thought I could fight the mate bond, but after the night we shared, it has proven to be harder than I thought.
"We can't let her leave. What about the rogue?" Alan growled in my head as I felt my body stiffen as I remembered the letter. I noticed that Aurora had stopped pushing me away as well as she stared at me in confusion.
"What?" she asked me, but I didn't answer as I stepped back, letting her pass through. My wolf has been on edge ever since we got that letter, and it didn't help me ease my worry when Adam told me that Levi and Aurora would be staying together in his cabin, which is very close to the forest and isolated from the pack house.
I turned around when I saw that she had already left my house, so I walked outside when I saw her walk down the paved path. I closed my front door and walked towards her as I began walking alongside her. "What are you doing?" she hissed as she rubbed her hands to bring in some warmth. I was still mad with her arrangement, but I am not going to tell Adam about our relationship, I will make sure she tells everyone about us and breaks this fake engagement with Levi.
"Walking you home," I said in a monotone.
"I can go on my own, Beta Perez. I don't need your company," she said, but I ignored her comment and continued walking, and surprisingly, she didn't argue further at all. As we reached the cabin, I noticed that it was pitch dark around here.
"Didn't you turn on a light?" I asked her.
"I forgot," she said and she climbed the staircase, but she must have misjudged the number of stairs there was because she missed the last one and came crashing down the stairs. "Ouch." I heard her whisper as I tried very hard to not laugh.
From the few weeks I have seen here, I have realized one thing. She is an extremely clumsy person, and this might even lead her to her own death.
Aurora James - POV
My right ankle was throbbing as I sat on the last stair and looked at it while my cheeks were burning with embarrassment. This was the third time I had fallen in front of Zander, and I didn't even dare meet his eyes, afraid that he might laugh at me. "You should have turned on that light." he mocked when I glared at him.
"Thank you for walking me back home, Beta Zander. I think I can go inside my house on my own." I snapped at him when he raised an eyebrow at me, but he didn't say anything as he walked away. I stayed seated there till I saw his figure vanish into the darkness before I got up and hopped my way inside.
As I walked inside I locked the front door, I felt someone stand right behind me, which made my heart come to a screeching halt.
Did the rogue manage to come inside?
"Aurora?" I abruptly turned around when I saw Levi standing there in the darkness.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I yelled as my breathing increased.
"Woah, why are you angry at seeing me?"
"You left last night, Levi. And I almost had a heart attack when I felt someone standing behind me." I asserted.
"Well, about that. Alpha Lopez has announced a curfew, so we couldn't leave the pack last night, but when I came here, I realized that you weren't home," he explained.
"I went to the pack house to get something to eat." I didn't know how that lie came out, but I didn't hesitate to correct myself. There was this suspicious look on his face, but he didn't question it anymore.
"Oh, okay. Shall we go to bed then?" he asked me, and I nodded my head. We walked into the room, and I took my pillow and a blanket and walked into the living room. After making a bed for myself, I lay down and closed my eyes as the darkness consumed me.
I woke up to the sound of plates clattering, and I squinted my eyes and looked around to see that the sun had already come out. "Good morning, Aurora." Levi greeted me as he placed two mugs of coffee on the coffee table and took a seat on the chair opposite mine.
"Didn't you go yet?" I asked him as I sat up on the couch when I saw his smile widen, and this made a frown form on my face.
