A girl sat under a tree pensively, daydreaming while looking at the beautiful white clouds that carried her thoughts far away. Her name is Odelia Kanzate, an orphan girl who this week was required to leave the orphanage where she grew up because she was considered old enough.
Every orphanage child who is 17 years old is allowed to live outside the orphanage to live independently, and now it is Odel's turn. An old man approached her and greeted her in a soft voice.
"Odel, Mrs. "Anna is calling you, dear," said Jacob, the orphanage worker who usually tidies the garden.
"Okay, Jacob. "Now it's my turn," answered Odel, who walked towards the administration room unsteadily.
"Poor girl, with such a beautiful face, she should have had foster parents since she was little," muttered the old man, looking at her pityingly.
In a admin room, Mrs. Anna was waiting for her. She sat at a table carrying letters that Odel certainly thought were terrible letters.
"Please sit down, dear," said Mrs. Anna.
Odel nodded, and she sat with a gloomy face. Meanwhile, Mrs Anna looked at Odel with a gentle smile. The middle-aged woman didn't seem to have the heart to say the truth that she should have said.
"My Dear,"
"I'm ready Mrs. Anna, just say everything without hesitation. Thank you for taking care of me all this time. "I am a big girl who can support myself from now on, I will work, and I will be successful out there," said Odel at length.
"I know you can do it, Odel. You are a smart and good girl. But there's something I have to tell you."
"What's that?"
"You got a letter from your family,"
"What do you mean, Mrs. Anna?"
"There was a will that came to the orphanage and said you have a grandmother. But unfortunately, she just passed away," explained Mrs. Anna.
"I have a grandma, and she just died? And I don't know her? "Oh my God, was I unlucky from birth, no one wanted to adopt me until I was this big, and as soon as I found out I still had a family, she died," said Odel with a sigh.
"Don't say that, Odel, at least you inherited quite a lot from your grandmother,"
"Inheritance? Is it true?" asked Odel, wondering.
"Yes, in this will it is written that she is one of the nobles in Edelaine City who has a large house complete with a very large farm. You are one of her heirs."
"One of the heirs? Do I have other siblings?" asked Odelia.
"I don't know, it's not explained in this letter, but you can see a family lawyer, and you will meet him tomorrow," said Mrs. Anna.
"He's coming here?"
"No, you must go there. "The lawyer's name was Mr. Baron, he sent his driver to pick you up tomorrow," answered Mrs. Anna.
"Tomorrow? That's very fast. "I still want to be here longer," said Odelia sadly.
"Yes dear, I will miss you too, but you can come here whenever you want," answered Mrs. Anna.
"Glad to hear, at least I didn't lose my house,"
"No, Dear. This orphanage will forever be your home," answered Mrs. Anna.
"Thank you, I will miss you," said Odel, immediately hugging Mrs. Anna.
The two of them hugged, and they spent the day chatting and joking a lot. They didn't know whether that warmth could be repeated, because tomorrow Odel would say goodbye and leave the orphanage that had cared for her for 17 years.
In the morning, with a faint smile and teary eyes, the beautiful girl waved at Mrs. Anna. She will miss the orphanage administrator who she considers her mother.
Sitting by the window, a driver from Mr. Baron's men picked her up. The man was wearing a black suit with sunglasses, a black luxury car, and very dark window glass.
"Are you ready, Miss Odel? Is there anything else you need to bring?" asked the man in his low voice.
"No,"
The black car immediately drove away, leaving the orphanage which had been Odel's home. Staring at the orphanage building that was getting further away, the girl shed tears. She would miss that place more than anything.
"Get some rest, Miss, we still have a long way to go," said the driver, still in a low voice.
"I'm not sleepy, I didn't expect to leave the orphanage so soon. "I didn't even think I had a grandmother so far away and, unfortunately, I couldn't meet her in my life," complained Odel.
The man in the black suit was silent and hadn't been listening to Odelia's story and continued driving. Odel began to pay attention to the man. His body was thin, his chin was sharp, and his skin was pale. From his voice, he looks like a middle-aged man, but from his skin, he still looks like a new adult around 20 years old.
"Are you originally from Edelaine city?" Odel asked.
The man nodded, but he remained focused on the road. It's just that he started turning on the car air conditioner with a strange floral perfume, making Odel start to yawn.
"Go to sleep, Miss, it's still a long way to go," said the man.
Odel's heavy eyes seemed uncontrollable. She could hear the man's words, but she felt her body go weak and the only thing she wanted to do now was sleep.
"Have a nice trip, Miss," said the man with a grin on his lips.
It was a long journey that Odel didn't feel. All she knew was that she suddenly woke up in a large bed in a room similar to an ancient castle with luxurious antique furniture.
"Oh my God! Where am I?" the girl muttered, waking up and seeing details of the room that she didn't recognize at all.
There was a suitcase and bag under the bed. At a glance she remembered that a man who claimed to be the driver of a lawyer named Baron picked her up there. Strangely, after she got in the car, she didn't remember anything, she only felt the smell of a strange perfume which sedated her and made her unconscious.
"Did she drug me? How could it be possible that I don't remember anything!" Odel muttered, starting to worry.
She tried to get out of bed, but before she got down, the large door in her room opened wide. A middle-aged man came with several female servants carrying a cart filled with food.
"Miss Odel, you are awake, I think the long journey has made you tired. "We provide food that we deliberately cook directly from the fields. I hope you like it. Eat it while it's warm," said the stranger.
"Who are you? Where am I? How can I be here? I'm sure you guys drugged me! I won't be fooled, I'm very sure I didn't sleep earlier, it was you guys who made me faint!" said Odel in a trembling voice.
The man looked at Odel. With a strange smile on his face, he started to shoo the female servants away and started walking closer.
"I am Baron, the man who invited you here."
"You are Mr. Baron? Aren't you a lawyer? Are you deceiving me? Where am I? Say it quickly!" Odel snapped.
"You are indeed in Edelaine, but not in the city, but in the center of the Edelaine forest, which is very far from residential areas. "This place is a castle that was bequeathed to you and will be your home in the future," said Baron.
"I haven't signed any agreement, I haven't seen my grandmother's will, I still have the right to refuse anything. Your words sound as if you want to trap me!" Odel protested.
"The agreement is not written, Miss, but flows in your blood and was carried out by your ancestors! Your ancestors already agreed to it, so we don't need to ask for your opinion?"
"What do you mean?"
"The birthmark on your neck makes it clear that you are the only human girl who will be the bride-to-be of one of the chosen vampire nobles,"
"What agreement? Did you say a vampire?"
"Yes, and you are the bride of the chosen vampire!"
"What do you mean?"
"You will marry a vampire and live in the castle forever," replied Baron, with a terrible smile.
