Over the next hour, Dane cleans up the entire house.
The thought of calling the police crosses his mind, but since nothing was stolen, what would he tell them?
Instead, he takes a bath, makes instant noodles, eats them, locks the house, and heads back to the hospital.
Even on his way, Dane feels like someone is following him. But every time he turns around, there's no one there.
He heads straight to the hospital,
Dane spends the entire day calling many people for money, but everyone refuses to help him.
Disheartened, Dane feels a deep sense of sadness. The day passes like this, and night falls.
Dane is massaging his sister's feet, worried that since she hasn't moved them for two days, her legs might stiffen.
The ward's door suddenly slammed open, startling him. The sound echoed in the room, intensifying the night's eerie silence.
Dane turned around to see three or four men barging into the room.
They looked like gangsters, with thick silver chains around their necks, dyed hair, and weapons like baseball bats and knives in their hands. It was clear they weren't there with good intentions.
"W–Who are you? And how did you get in here?"
"Bringing weapons into the hospital is prohibited. Don't you know that? And did you enter the wrong ward?" Dane says.
Dane steps down from the bed, standing on the floor as he nervously glances at all of them.
Fear has already gripped him tightly, and his hazel eyes slowly dart around, searching for a way out, as the boys in front of him look every bit like gangsters.
"Who is this boy? Are you this bitch's boyfriend?"
"I saw how he was massaging that bitch's feet, friends... I'm sure there's something about that slut; otherwise, how could she keep her boyfriend as a slave?"
A rough-looking guy standing in front of the boy spoke.
From his behavior, it seemed he was the leader of the group, as the others appeared to follow his every word. He was the only one who had his hair highlighted.
The leader looked down at Dane from above. He had black hair, hazel eyes, and a fair complexion with a well-built body.
But Dane was trembling, which immediately made it clear that despite having a good physique, it was of no use because he couldn't fight.
Anyone who could fight wouldn't tremble like that in front of someone.
"Don't talk about my sister like that, or it won't end well for you," Dane says, even though he knows he isn't capable of fighting.
But for his sister, he has no choice but to stand his ground.
Dane finally mustered the courage to speak and looked into the leader's eyes.
But the leader just glared at Dane, causing him to become even more frightened.
He had been bullied since childhood. Even in school, seniors would bully him every day, so he quickly became afraid of anyone.
"Look at this, he doesn't even have the courage to make eye contact with us, and now he's ordering us not to call that bitch a bitch?"
"I won't spare you if you say one more word about my sister," Dane says.
"Just because you've built a body at the gym, you think you're some kind of hero now?" the man says.
The leader took a step forward, and Dane thought about stepping back, but there was a table behind him, so he remained frozen in place.
"You're that bitch's brother, right? Then tell me, where did she hide that thing?"
"What thing?"
Dane asked, unsure of what the leader was referring to, wondering how he could know what thing he was talking about.
The leader looks at his friends, as they also don't know what the thing is.
"I don't know what it is, but all I know is we need to take something from this bitch"
"She's my sister. Don't call her a bitch, and she doesn't have anything you're looking for," Dane says, standing protectively like a devoted brother.
"What are you all standing around for? Search this bitch and see if she's hidden it on her body!"
The leader barked, motioning toward Liya. At his command, the other men approached liya.
"She's quite the looker, isn't she?" one of them commented, reaching for the sheet covering Liya.
Just as he was about to pull it off, Dane grabbed his hand and pushed him away.
"Stay away from my sister! Don't even think about touching her, or I'll kill you!" Dane yelled, trembling with anger.
For an elder brother, his sister is like a daughter. So how could Dane just stand there silently and watch what they were planning to do to his sister?
The leader responded by kicking Dane hard, sending him sprawling to the floor.
Blood trickled from Dane's mouth, but he staggered to his feet, positioning himself protectively in front of his sister.
This act of defiance only enraged the men further.
They grabbed Dane by the hair, dragged him out of the room, and left Liya alone. Dane didn't resist; he had no strength left.
As the four of them drag Dane away, he doesn't say a word and quietly goes with them.
He knows that if he speaks up, they will create a scene in the hospital, which he wants to avoid.
The four of them take Dane to the forest right behind the hospital.
There, they kick him repeatedly, but even that doesn't satisfy their rage.
They start beating him with a baseball bat, leaving Dane half-dead.
Blood begins to flow from his head like water, and the unbearable pain causes him to lose consciousness.
Afterward, they lit cigarettes, casually discussing their next move.
"Puff… That coward dared to stand up to us."
"Let's go. Whether he lives or dies, it's none of our concern," their leader says, and they all leave the forest, abandoning Dane in that state.
After they leave, the sound of rustling bushes suddenly fills the air, as if something is moving toward Dane.
At that moment, the same person in the black mask appears. They lift Dane up, supporting him on their shoulder, and carry him out of the forest.
The masked person takes Dane back to the hospital. Seeing his condition, the nurse quickly arranges for Dane to be taken to the doctors. Dane is rushed to the operating room.
Meanwhile, the masked person stands silently by the billing counter.
"Excuse me, I want to pay the bills for both the person I just brought in and his sister for the next year."
The nurse's mouth falls open, and her eyes widen in shock as she hears this.
After calculating, she informs the person of the total amount.
Without hesitation, the masked person pays the full amount and then heads straight to Liya's ward.
However, they don't stay there for more than two minutes before quietly leaving.
Dane received six stitches on his head, and the doctors declared him in a coma, with no certainty of when he would wake up.
Three days pass, and Dane remains in a coma.
Now, both siblings were in a coma, and no one knew when they would wake up.
On the fourth day, Dane suddenly sits up, cracking his neck. He glances around the ward, observing everything.
After moving his wrist and shoulders, Dane leaps off the bed and walks over to the window.
Standing there, he lets the rays of the sun fall on him, running his fingers through his hair and pushing it back.
In that moment, he looks different—because he isn't really Dane.
The one who has awakened is Jeren, Dane's other personality. Jeren is vastly different from Dane in every way.
While Jeren is a force capable of destroying anything, Dane is a weakness that can destroy himself.
The last time Jeren took control of Dane's body was when Dane was just seven years old.
Back then, Jeren spent a lot of time playing with his younger sister, Liya.
Jeren doesn't like to pick fights, but if someone provokes him, he never spares them.
From martial arts to boxing and wrestling, Jeren is skilled in everything.
If you look closely, Jeren is nothing less than a mafia boss.
Jeren didn't know that Liya was in a coma because he had just woken up. How could he possibly know?
Jeren, yawning as he walks down the corridor after leaving the ward, is suddenly confronted by the nurse who had spoken to Dane earlier.
"Hey, you woke up from the coma, but your sister hasn't," she says.
Jeren glares at the woman.
"What happened to my sister?"
"My God, your memory is still intact?"
