"Alright, let's say Miren and I really are having an affair—who's going to believe you? My wife certainly won't. She blindly trusts me," the doctor says, placing one hand on his cheek.
Jeren scoffs and pulls out his phone from his pocket, showing a photo to the doctor. Seeing the photo, Dr. Vel's eyes widen in shock, and for a moment, his heart seems to stop beating.
The photo Jeren shows is of Vel and Miren kissing. Earlier, when Jeren was returning to Liya's ward, he had seen the two standing outside the office, kissing.
On a whim, Jeren had taken the photo. Now, that photo had turned into something very useful.
The doctor began trembling as he saw the photo.
"Delete that photo right now, and I'll tell you what you need to know."
In the end, the doctor had to admit defeat in front of Jeren.
They say some people just don't get it, and if Jeren hadn't blackmailed that doctor, he would never have agreed to reveal anything.
"There was a clot of blood in one area of your sister's abdomen, probably caused by an injury. However, it wasn't from the accident because that injury was old."
Jeren listens carefully to the doctor, his expression serious.
"There were many similar injuries below her neck, but I didn't tell anyone about it. If I had revealed that, then..."
Before speaking, the doctor glances at Jeren to gauge his expression, then continues.
"If her injuries had come to light, it would have been seen as abuse, and this would have reached the police. The police would have gotten involved, so I didn't tell anyone."
"You shouldn't have become a doctor, you scoundrel... And did you see the face of that man who paid our bill?" Jeren aks
"No, I didn't see him. I just heard that he paid the bill... I've told you everything you needed to know. Now, please delete the photo," Vel pleads.
"Then why were you asking me for 20 million dollars when you already knew the bill had been paid?" Jeren's voice turns harsh.
The doctor lowers his head, as his real goal was to extort money from Jeren. He didn't care how he got the money—whether by selling his own kidney or even by committing murder.
All he wanted was the money. But now, his truth had been exposed: he had been lying in an attempt to steal money.
"Have the 20 million dollars ready by tomorrow evening. I'm leaving now," Jeren says as he stands up from the chair.
As soon as Jeren's words reach Vel's ears, his face goes pale, and he immediately gets up from his chair.
"What do you mean by having the money ready?"
"It's exactly what you think. You want me to delete the photo, right? So do as I'm saying. Once I get the 20 million dollars, I'll delete the photo."
Jeren walks out of the office, and as soon as he leaves, the doctor sits back down in his chair, stunned.
His face shows the shock of having clashed with someone he should never have crossed.
And it's true—if the doctor hadn't confronted Jeren, Jeren wouldn't have done anything to him.
Jeren goes through all the documents and mobile of Dane, then discovers that their house is still at the same place where it was during his childhood.
Jeren thinks to himself that since he hasn't showered, he'll go to the house to bathe in the morning. He then lies down on the sofa in Liya's ward.
Jeren struggles to fall asleep, but after a while, he eventually does. By then, it's already midnight. Just then, the ward door slowly creaks open.
As soon as the door opens, Jeren's eyes snap open, and he sits up, looking toward the door to see who has opened it.
At that moment, a nurse enters to replace Liya's saline bottle.
"Are you still awake? Can't sleep?" It's the same nurse who spoke to Jeren in the morning.
"I had fallen asleep, but I woke up from the sound of the door opening," Jeren says, yawning.
"Sorry for waking you up. What happened was, I came in the evening to replace the saline bottle, but the other nurse had already put in a new one."
"Go back to sleep, I'll leave now."
But Jeren stays seated until the nurse finishes her work and leaves. However, she doesn't close the door on her way out.
Jeren, being quite lazy, watches the door and leans back against the wall.
Just then, the nurse returns. One hand holds a blanket and pillow, while the other holds a cup of warm milk.
"Drinking warm milk will help you sleep better. When my son can't sleep, I give him a cup of warm milk, and he falls asleep."
The nurse hands the glass of milk to Jeren, places the pillow and blanket on the sofa, then closes the door and leaves.
Jeren takes a sniff of the milk, as he doesn't like it at all, and then covers it and places the glass on the table.
He lies down, resting his head on the pillow, pulls the blanket over himself, and soon falls asleep. No one enters the room after that.
A new day arrives, and by afternoon, Jeren is still sitting in Liya's ward, hungry, because he can't leave her alone like that.
Just then, Keto arrives. After his arrival, Jeren makes Keto the guard and has him sit in Liya's ward, then steps out of the ward to head home.
As Jeren is about to leave, he returns inside and asks Keto for directions to his house, using the excuse that his memory hasn't fully come back.
Keto then explains the entire route, telling him where to turn and where to go after leaving the hospital.
Still wearing the hospital gown, Jeren yawns as he walks down the road, looking around casually
With both hands clasped behind his head, he strolls as if the road belongs to him.
Suddenly, he realizes someone is following him. He stops abruptly, causing his pursuer to panic and hide behind some bushes.
Jeren lowers his hands from behind his head and turns around, squinting his eyes slightly.
He spots the person hiding behind the bushes but decides not to expose them just yet.
He, too, wants to figure out why this person is following him.
A faint smile appears on Jeren's lips as he bends down, picks up a stone, and slips it into his pocket. Then, without turning back, he resumes walking.
The person hiding behind the bushes peeks out cautiously and, seeing Jeren walking away, quickly sends a message someone:
– That bastard is out of the coma, and he looks perfectly fine. We'll have to do something about him because the doctor said he even threatened him and found out about Black.
Jeren was heading toward his home when a thought crossed his mind:
'I'll have to meet the girls who bullied Liya because how dare they have the courage to beat up my fragile sister?'
While walking, Jeren bumps into someone.
"Ughh! Can't you watch where you're going?" Jeren yells loudly.
When Jeren angrily looks ahead, he sees a short boy standing in front of him, chewing gum and scanning him from head to toe.
The boy was wearing an oversized T-shirt, and his white hair gleamed under the light.
"Hey, patient! Go back to the hospital if you can't see properly. Why are you wandering around on the road?" the boy snaps back at Jeren.
"Oi, shorty! Didn't your parents teach you not to mess with people bigger than you?"
The boy's eyes widen at Jeren's words.
"Move aside! Don't block my way," Jeren says and lightly smacks the boy on the head.
The smack bruises the boy's pride, so as soon as Jeren starts walking away, the boy punches him on the back.
Feeling the blow, Jeren's head snaps back in irritation, and he turns around angrily, ready to punch the boy in return.
But seeing how small the boy already is, he restrains himself.
"One punch from me, and you'll be dead. Don't mess with me, Jeren says.
"I may look small, but I have the strength of ten people. Do you want to test me?" the boy says with full confidence.
"I don't need to test anything. Go home," Jeren says, about to turn and leave.
Just then, two or three sport bikes pull up, each with two boys on them, revving their engines, making a loud vroom vroom sound.
Jeren looks at them, wondering who these people are, but the boy in front of him seems ready to fight, as they are his enemies.
"Lucky, today you're all alone. Let's see how you get out of this," says one of the boys sitting on the bike.
Lucky is the name of the boy standing next to Jeren. It's important to know two things about Lucky:
First, he's incredibly lucky since the day he was born.
That's why his name is Lucky. Even if someone tries to kill him, he won't die.
Because of this, he's never lost a fight, and he hasn't even won any through his own strength.
Second, he has the ability to make anyone angry with just a single move or talk.
