Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7

"All of you bastards together in a pack, huh? I should've expected nothing better from pigs," Lucky says with a scoff.

Hearing this, the boys stop their sport bikes and get off, holding baseball bats and knives in their hands. There were about six of them in total, three per bike.

"Lucky, you made a mistake messing with us again," one of them says while glancing at his friends, who start laughing along with him.

"If you got on your knees and begged for forgiveness at our feet, we might have let you go. But now, there's no chance," he says, snatching a knife from his friend and walking toward Lucky.

Lucky stands in a martial arts pose, as if he's a master, ready to fight. Watching all this drama unfold, Jeren starts to walk away.

Seeing Jeren walking away, Lucky quickly grabs his hand to stop him.

"Where are you going now?"

Jeren yanks his hand away from Lucky's grip.

"Wherever I go is none of your business. Fight your own battle. You have the strength of ten people, don't you?"

Hearing this, Lucky glances at the boys and then looks back at Jeren.

"Please help me. I can't fight all of them at once. You handle three, and I'll take care of the other three."

Jeren rolls his eyes, giving Lucky a side glance.

"Why should I fight those guys for a weakling like you? Anyway, weren't you saying you're so strong? Then show it. I'm out of here."

Jeren turns again to leave, but just then, a boy attacks Lucky with a baseball bat aimed at his head. However, Lucky dodges the attack.

"You cowards, attacking with weapons? If you've got guts, fight me barehanded!"

Lucky taunts them, clenching both fists and bouncing like a monkey, shifting left and right as if he's about to start boxing.

Ignoring all of this, Lucky is just about to leave when suddenly two boys run after him. They had seen Jeren standing with Lucky and assumed Jeren was his friend.

So, they went to fight Jeren—or should I say, they went to face their own death.

"Hey, where do you think you're running off to?"

One of the boys is about to kick Jeren in the back, but before he can, he shouts, which Jeren hears.

Jeren immediately turns around, just in time to see the boy's kick coming toward him. He catches the kick mid-air with both hands.

The boy loses his balance while standing on one leg and falls hard onto the road with a thud.

As he hits the ground, Jeren lets go of his leg.

"You came to fight me yourself, so don't blame me later," Jeren says before landing two hard kicks on the boy's ankle, breaking it.

"Aaaaaaa!" the boy screams in pain, tears streaming from his eyes as he writhes in agony.

Hearing his screams, all his friends' attention shifts to him.

Two boys, who were about to stab Lucky in the stomach with a knife, stop when they hear their friend's cries. Seeing him sitting on the road like that, they immediately leave Lucky and rush over to him.

Lucky lets out a sigh of relief.

"Looks like my luck saved me again," Lucky mutters to himself as he, too, goes over to see what happened.

The boys' leader kneels beside the injured boy and tries to touch his ankle, but even the slightest touch makes him scream in pain. The leader pulls his hand back.

His eyes turn red with rage, and his fists clench tightly.

"Who did this to you? Tell me," the leader asks.

One of the boys steps forward and points a finger at Jeren.

"This guy broke our friend's ankle!"

As soon as the leader hears this, he shoots a death glare at Jeren and starts walking toward him, ready to fight.

But the injured boy's screams of pain force the leader to change his mind. He decides to take him to the hospital first.

"And you, I've memorized your face. You won't escape. I'll give you the most painful death," the leader says before turning to leave.

Hearing this, Jeren steps forward, locking eyes with the leader and smirking.

"If I see you again, you are dead," Jeren says calmly.

The leader gets even angrier hearing Jeren's threat and is about to attack him directly, but his companions hold him back and take him away from there.

As soon as they leave, Lucky quickly comes over and stands in front of Jeren.

"By the way, my name is Lucky. What's yours?"

"Jeren."

Jeren starts walking after saying his name, and Lucky quickly runs to walk beside him.

"Your name is kind of unusual. I've never heard anyone named Jeren before," Lucky says casually.

The moment Lucky says that, Jeren snaps his head toward him and glares so intensely it feels like he could kill with his eyes.

"What did you just say? Say it again, I didn't hear you," Jeren says,

though he heard everything clearly. He's deliberately pretending to intimidate Lucky, and it seems to be working.

"Oh, I was saying your name is really nice. I like it a lot!" Lucky quickly changes his tone.

"By the way, you're really strong. You broke that guy's ankle without using any weapon," Lucky says.

Who doesn't like hearing compliments about themselves? Jeren enjoys it too when someone praises him.

"From today, you're my sidekick," Jeren says proudly, feeling quite pleased with himself for making Lucky his sidekick.

But Lucky doesn't like that idea at all.

Still, he doesn't say anything to Jeren's face—he doesn't want his ankle broken.

"Do you know I'm a member of a gang? So, I can't be your sidekick," Lucky says.

Lucky tells this to Jeren to scare him and show off. He thinks that if Jeren finds out he's part of a gang, Jeren will become his sidekick instead and might even start fearing him.

But Jeren wasn't bothered at all by the fact that Lucky was a member of a gang, as he had already decided to make him his sidekick.
