Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5

Just then, Jeren steps forward and grabs Miren's neck with one hand, slamming her against the door.

Tears well up in Miren's eyes as she starts gasping for air.

She desperately tries to pry Jeren's hand off her neck with both of her hands but fails, as Jeren's grip is unyielding in his rage.

She even attempts to push him away, but her efforts are in vain.

It's at that moment she realizes that if she doesn't find a way to save herself, Jeren will kill her.

"F-Fine... I'm sorry... please forgive me," Nurse Miren says, choking for air.

As soon as Jeren hears the word "sorry," he loosens his grip and pulls his hand back.

Red marks from Jeren's fingers are etched onto Miren's neck, and she begins gasping for air.

"Don't mess with me again, or the consequences will be worse than this."

"I'll let this go, but next time, don't disturb my sister."

Nurse Miren nods her head and is about to run away, as who would stay in a place where someone tried to strangle them? But just as she turns to leave, Jeren grabs her hand to stop her.

The moment Miren feels Jeren's grip on her hand, her heart starts pounding in her chest, and she turns around.

"Where are you going?" Jeren stops in the middle, leans toward Nurse Miren, and reads her name from the tag on her shirt. "Nurse Miren."

"Don't you think you're forgetting something?" Jeren says, scratching his eyebrow with his thumb.

"What am I forgetting?" Miren looks around, worried that she might have made another mistake.

"Oh, you said the doctor called me to meet, right? So, take me to that doctor."

"Yes, follow me," Miren says, starting to walk ahead, with Jeren following behind her, his hands stuffed in both pockets of his pants.

Soon, they arrive in front of Doctor Vel's office. Miren immediately runs away, bringing Jeren to the office door.

Miren is confused, not understanding what just happened. The same Dane, whom she had yelled at and humiliated earlier, didn't say anything back then; he just lowered his head.

But now, suddenly, that same guy has changed so much that he is choking her directly.

Jeren opens the office door and walks in. As soon as he enters, he sees Dr. Vel working on something on his laptop. Jeren sits down on the chair and reads the doctor's name from the name tag placed there.

But perhaps Jeren barging into the office without knocking doesn't sit well with the doctor. While typing on his laptop, Dr. Vel pauses and looks toward Jeren.

"Don't you have any manners, you bastard? Don't you know you're supposed to knock before entering?" Vel says, glaring at Jeren.

"I don't have any interest in meeting you, jerk. You called me here, so why?"

Dr. Vel places the bill receipt in front of Jeren, which shows

[20 million]

dollars. Jeren looks at the receipt and then glances back at Vel.

"What is this?" Jeren asks, leaning back in his chair.

"Can't you see? It's the hospital bill. I gave you a week, and then you went into a coma. Now, you'll have to pay 20 million dollars."

Suddenly, Jeren stood up from his chair and slammed his hands on the table, startling the doctor.

But when the doctor realized it was Dane, with his innocent face, he dismissed the incident.

Jeren leaned forward, placing his hands on the table and locking eyes with the doctor.

The moment their gazes met, the doctor grew uneasy. Jeren's eyes were red with anger, his face terrifying in its intensity.

"What kind of behavior is this towards a doctor? Step back, or I'll have you and your sister thrown out of this hospital," the doctor threatened.

But he didn't realize that the person in front of him was no longer Dane—it was Jeren, who never let anything slide.

"You've got some nerve, threatening to throw my sister out of this hospital. Looks like you're tired of living,"

Jeren said, his voice dripping with menace. The doctor was shocked by the sudden change in tone.

"And which hospital is making me pay this bill where I have to give 20 million dollars? Do I look like an idiot to you?"

"And as far as I know, someone else has already paid for my and my sister's bills for the next year, so how dare you lie to me?" Jeren says, glaring into Vel's eyes as he speaks.

"W-What are you trying to say? That I'm lying?" the doctor says, stuttering.

"We shouldn't have treated your sister at all. The day she was brought to the hospital, she should've been thrown out right then, anyway," the doctor says.

"Probably some girl with no sense of responsibility who ended up in a coma. That's why they say girls should be kept in check. Give them too much freedom, and they get out of hand,"

The doctor's words were only fueling Jeren's anger. He wasn't calm after the conversation with the nurse, and now the doctor was adding fuel to the fire.

But Jeren was like a fire that doesn't burn himself but turns everything in front of him to ashes.

Despite seeing Jeren's anger, the doctor goes back to working on his laptop as if he hadn't said anything.

This is what you call inviting trouble and then sitting back calmly.

While Vel is typing on his laptop, a loud slap lands across his cheek.

The sound of the slap echoes off the walls of the office, reverberating in Vel's ears. A deep mark from the slap begins to throb inside him.

Vel immediately stands up in anger, ready to slap Jeren back. But just then, Jeren grabs his hand.

"Don't even think about hitting me again, or the consequences won't be good."

"How dare you to hit me?" the doctor shouted, trying to intimidate Jeren with his raised voice. But Jeren was unfazed

Then, Jeren releases Vel's hand and, with both hands, pushes Vel's shoulders down, making him sit on the chair. Jeren then sits down as well, crossing one leg over the other.

The doctor then reaches for the telephone to call security, realizing that he is no match for Jeren's strength.

But just before Vel can touch it, Jeren knocks the telephone to the ground.

"Did you find any other wounds on my sister's body while treating her?"

"Wounds, as if someone had beaten her?" Jeren asks.

But Vel doesn't answer. Even after hearing Jeren's question, he just silently looks at him.

Then, suddenly, something seems to click in his mind, and he starts laughing.

"Ha ha ha ha... I'll send you to jail right now for laying a hand on a doctor," Vel says, laughing.

Jeren, biting his nails, stares at the doctor without blinking.

As the doctor continues laughing, Jeren's expression grows darker and more menacing.

"You're quite close to Nurse Miren, aren't you? Isn't it true that you never forget to call her to your office every night before leaving for home?"

The doctor's eyes widened in shock at Jeren's words.

"You two spend about half an hour in your office before you go home. What would happen if your wife found out about this affair of yours? Would she divorce you?" Jeren smirked.

"And what if she does? I've heard this hospital belongs to your wife's father. One move, and your entire career could come crashing down."

Jeren's lips curled into a satisfied smile as he saw the reactions on the doctor's face.

It was exactly what he had expected. The doctor's complexion paled, sweat trickling down his forehead.

"W-what you're saying isn't true... I don't have an affair with Miren," the doctor stammered, his nervous voice betraying the truth of Jeren's accusations.

This morning, while Jeren was walking in the hospital, he overheard that Dr. Vel and Nurse Miren were having an affair.

Vel called Miren to his office every day before going home, and the two wouldn't come out for half an hour.

Vel's father-in-law was the owner of this hospital, and if he found out, it would be the end of Dr. Vel. The gossip was intriguing, so Jeren listened to all of it from the nurses.

Now, Jeren brought his fingers to his lips, blew on his nails, and said,

"Doctor, now you decide—either you tell me what I asked, or I'll tell your wife the truth," Jeren says.

The doctor panicked but then thought about how Jeren could possibly have any proof to present to his wife.
