"Didn't you say you had invited a guest?" Clara asked Ella as they all walked out of the venue. Right now, they plan on joining Emily at the after-award party venue to celebrate.
"I did." Ella answered feeling a bit aggrieved. Alexander never called her and since she doesn't have his number, she couldn't call him. She had really assumed their relationship had gotten better.
"And where is the guest?" Clara asked again. Right now, Ella regretted telling her family she would be expecting a friend. She had only told them because she wanted to reserve a seat for him. When Emily was asked by her company to provide the number of her expected guests, Ella had to speak out.
"Since your guest didn't show up, the seat will be given to Emily's friend, who came unannounced." Ella nodded, agreeing with Clara.
