"Bang!"
Victor's chest was struck hard, and his body was sent flying backward. However, his extensive combat experience wasn't just for show. With a nimble flip in mid-air, he landed steadily on the ground not far away. Both his bone claws extended fully, and his gaze turned vicious as he glared at Alex.
"You little punk! How dare you meddle in my affairs! Are you tired of living?!"
"You sure have a big mouth."
Alex nonchalantly twirled his katana, speaking lightly. "I owe that guy [Wolverine] a favor, so I can't let you kill his girl!"
During Alex's final duel with Weapon XI, Wolverine had intervened at a critical moment. Although it caused Alex's sword technique to fail, Wolverine's interference blocked Weapon XI's ultimate laser attack, saving Alex's life. For that, Alex indeed owed him a significant debt.
"This woman [Kara] clearly showed concern for him when he was knocked away. It's highly likely she's his girl. I can't let her die in front of me!"
"You think you can save the people I, Sabretooth, want to kill?"
Victor sneered, brandishing his claws as he charged toward Alex and Kara.
"Tch, big talk from someone like you. Don't make me laugh!"
Alex smirked disdainfully. As Victor rushed forward, Alex swung his katana sharply.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The sound of the blade slicing through the air echoed. Victor's sharp eyes stayed locked on the incoming katana, his full attention focused. As the blade neared his head, he twisted his body to evade it. Then, with both claws, he deflected the katana with one and aimed the other directly at Alex's throat.
"Hah!"
Facing Victor's ferocious attack, Alex's lips curled into a smile. A surge of spiritual energy erupted from his body, dramatically increasing his speed. His katana slipped out from Victor's grasp, reversed direction, and slashed toward Victor's neck. Meanwhile, Alex ignored the claw aimed at his throat.
Victor's expression shifted instantly. At this rate, his claws wouldn't reach Alex's throat before Alex's blade severed his head. Although Victor had a rapid healing ability, it didn't mean he was invincible. Sensing the danger, Victor abandoned his attack and dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike.
"You little—"
Victor turned angrily to look at Alex, only to realize Alex had vanished from his original spot.
"Damn it! Quick—"
"Too slow!"
Alex's voice suddenly rang out behind Victor. His pupils shrank as he instinctively ducked.
"Slash!"
The blade of Alex's adamantium katana cut deep into Victor's back, carving out a bone-deep wound.
Victor clenched his teeth, glaring venomously at Alex. Under the influence of his rapid healing ability, the wound didn't even bleed before it healed completely. Still, his expression was filled with icy fury and humiliation. Once, during the wars, he had been a formidable force. And now, a mere young punk had cut him!
"Damn it! I actually lost to this brat!"
"I told you, in front of me, you're not qualified to brag."
With that, Alex raised his katana again and slashed toward Victor.
"Shinmei-ryu Ultimate Technique: Rock-Splitting Sword!"
Before the words even finished, Alex's blade turned into a flash of white light, moving with the speed of lightning and the force of thunder, descending on Victor like a storm.
"Clang!"
Victor instinctively raised his claws to block, but the immense force pushed him back. His feet carved deep grooves in the ground, and his body slammed into the wall behind him with a deafening crash. The sturdy wall crumbled under the impact, burying Victor under a pile of debris.
"Boom!"
Amid the falling rubble, Alex casually remarked, "Oh dear, looks like I overdid it." Then, turning to Kara, he asked, "Hey, are you okay?"
Kara stood up, her face filled with worry. "I'm fine! But Logan—the man who intervened in your fight earlier—where did he go?"
"He went to lure that guy [Weapon XI] away. Took off on his own."
Alex's tone was laced with dissatisfaction. Originally, he had planned to defeat Weapon XI and absorb him using his Destruction Eye technique. A creature of that level would undoubtedly provide a massive boost to his spiritual energy. But thanks to Wolverine's interference, that plan had gone up in smoke.
"Boom!"
While Alex and Kara were talking, the pile of debris suddenly shifted. Victor emerged unscathed, brushing off the rubble. His body showed no signs of injury, though his clothes and hair were covered in dust.
"Another rapid healer?! Is this ability just everywhere now?" Alex grumbled in exasperation. First Weapon XI, then Wolverine, and now Victor. Three rapid healers in a single day—it was getting ridiculous.
Victor slowly stepped out of the debris and stood a short distance from Alex. His voice dripped with venom. "You little runt, you've got some nerve. But now, I'm done playing. I'm going to crush you, drag you to the lab, and turn you into something neither man nor beast!"
"Still spouting nonsense. Will you ever learn?" Alex retorted, then turned to Kara.
"You take these people and leave. I've got this covered."
Knowing they wouldn't be of any help, Kara nodded solemnly. "Alright. But be careful—he's strong."
Alex gave a light laugh. "Don't worry."
Kara began helping the injured mutants to their feet and guided them toward another passageway in the room.
"Don't think you can escape!"
Victor roared and leapt toward the retreating group, but Alex intercepted him mid-air.
"Your opponent is me. Stay where you are!"
With a swift slash, Alex forced Victor back.
Victor snarled but held his ground, watching as Kara and the others disappeared down the corridor.
As Alex prepared to face Victor again, he suddenly called out, "Hey, to the guy holding my stuff—don't lose it! That's a gift!"
The young male mutant carrying Alex's belongings sighed helplessly. "Relax, I've got it. Nothing's getting lost!"
Hearing this, Alex smiled. "Good. Now get going!"
Kara and the group quickened their pace, eager to escape before the collapsing room buried them alive.
