"Clang! Clang!"
Adamantium claws clashed against adamantium blades as Wolverine collided head-on with Weapon XI. Sparks flew wildly as their weapons met in an unrelenting confrontation, both forged from the same indestructible material.
The sheer force of the impact caused both fighters to stagger slightly, their bodies leaning back momentarily from the recoil.
"Now's the time!"
Trailing behind Wolverine, Alex's eyes lit up with determination. Seizing the opportunity, he launched a fierce thrust, aiming the adamantium blade in his hand straight for Weapon XI's vital chest area.
However, despite the speed and ferocity of the strike, it did not catch Weapon XI off guard. Just as the blade's tip was about to pierce his body, Weapon XI's entire figure suddenly vanished.
"Teleportation again!"
Alex cursed inwardly as his strike missed. With a slight flick of his wrist, he redirected the blade downward, stabbing it into the dam beneath him. Using the leverage, he flipped agilely to the side.
Meanwhile, Wolverine, who had already deduced the limitations of Weapon XI's teleportation ability, quickly left his previous position upon noticing Weapon XI vanish again.
"Whoosh!"
Weapon XI reappeared, but to their surprise, he didn't show up at any of their former locations. Instead, he materialized in midair above them. His expressionless gaze swept over the two before his body disappeared once more.
"This guy..."
Wolverine growled in frustration, resuming his movement while Alex remained rooted to the spot, bracing himself for a potential attack.
The moment Weapon XI disappeared, Alex's muscles tensed, and his senses heightened dramatically. Every detail within his surroundings became crystal clear in his perception, an ability stemming from his unique Clairvoyant Eyes technique.
Unlike ordinary farsightedness, Alex's Clairvoyant Eyes granted him additional capabilities: x-ray vision, night vision, and even multi-angle observation of his immediate surroundings. Essentially, his ability functioned as a superior "Byakugan," offering a 360-degree field of vision that extended over ten meters in all directions. Within this range, nothing could escape his notice.
"Buzz!"
The moment Alex activated his Clairvoyant Eyes, Weapon XI materialized silently behind him, dual blades aimed mercilessly at his back. Through his enhanced perception, Alex could see every minute detail of Weapon XI's movement, including the subtle gleam of satisfaction in his opponent's eyes.
"Heh..."
A confident smirk curled across Alex's lips. Without turning his head, he raised his right hand and slashed out with blinding speed, his motion fluid and precise.
Though Alex lacked mastery of advanced sword techniques like Shinmei-ryu, his raw physical prowess more than compensated for it. His strike matched Weapon XI's in both speed and strength. The outcome would depend solely on who outmaneuvered the other.
Yet, to Alex's surprise, Weapon XI chose not to meet him head-on. Just as their blades were about to collide, Weapon XI teleported once again. This time, he reappeared directly in front of Alex, his dual blades slicing forward with lethal precision, aimed squarely at Alex's heart.
Despite the rapid attack, Alex's Clairvoyant Eyes kept up. The instant Weapon XI appeared, Alex's adamantium blade was already in place, intercepting the strike perfectly. The clash was so balanced that neither gained the upper hand.
"Clang!"
Weapon XI retreated swiftly, abandoning the failed attack. He reappeared behind the distracted Wolverine and, without hesitation, stabbed him twice in quick succession.
"Argh!"
Wolverine roared in pain, spinning around to counterattack, but Weapon XI teleported again, this time reappearing in front of him. With a brutal motion, he drove his claws straight into Wolverine's chest.
"Slash!"
Just then, Alex arrived to intervene. To prevent further harm to Wolverine, he unleashed a powerful strike with all his might.
"Bang!"
Weapon XI withdrew his claws and dodged nimbly, delivering a fierce kick to Wolverine's chest before retreating. The force of the kick sent Wolverine flying backward toward the edge of the dam.
If Wolverine fell from such a height, it wouldn't be a mere tumble—it would be a deadly plummet.
As Wolverine was launched through the air, Weapon XI turned his attention back to Alex, his dual blades swinging with relentless ferocity. The whistling sound of the blades tearing through the air forced Alex to stay on the defensive.
"Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!"
In a matter of seconds, Alex and Weapon XI exchanged over a dozen blows. Under Weapon XI's relentless assault, Alex had no chance to assist Wolverine.
"Damn it! That bastard's got me right where he wants me!"
Falling through the air, Wolverine couldn't help but curse. Yet, his face showed no trace of fear. Whether or not he would fall to his death was another matter entirely.
As he descended, Wolverine noticed the dam's structure—a tapered design with a wider base and a narrower top. This peculiar architecture offered him an unexpected opportunity to avoid a grim fate.
"Clang!"
Seizing the chance, Wolverine extended his claws, driving them into the dam's wall. The adamantium tore through the surface effortlessly, slowing his descent.
Still, the friction wasn't enough to bring him to a complete halt. He continued to slide downward rapidly, his claws carving deep gouges into the structure.
Even so, Wolverine had narrowly avoided becoming a splattered mess on the ground. He glanced back up at the fight above, muttering, "Looks like it's up to that kid to hold his own for now."
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the island, Kara and the Diamond Lady led a group of mutants through the base, their destination the coastline.
After Alex's earlier carnage, only a handful of soldiers remained on the island, and even fewer dared to attack the mutants. Any who tried were swiftly dealt with by the Diamond Lady's impenetrable form and the younger Cyclops' powerful blasts. The group advanced unimpeded.
"Elder sister, should we secure a ship first?" Diamond Lady asked Kara. "Without one, we'll never get off this island."
Kara nodded, concern flickering across her face. "Yes, we need to leave immediately. The Canadian military must already be aware of what's happened here. I doubt it'll be long before they send reinforcements to wipe us out. If we don't escape soon, none of us will make it."
"Boom!"
Her words sent a wave of panic through the group of young mutants. Having just escaped the horrors of the base, the prospect of being hunted down so soon was a crushing blow.
"Why do they treat us this way? We're human, too!" a young girl sobbed.
"Humans see us as nothing but pests, as threats they can't tolerate. They'd rather see us all dead than accept us as equals," a boy spat bitterly.
The others fell silent, their faces dark with resentment. Though they had endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of their captors, this moment planted the first seeds of true hatred.
Kara, sensing their despair, spoke up to shift their focus. "We can discuss this later. Right now, our priority is finding a ship."
"Should we split up to look—"
"No need. The ship's already prepared," an unfamiliar but commanding voice interrupted, resonating directly in Kara's mind.
"Who are you?" Kara asked telepathically, recognizing the use of psychic communication.
"I'm here to help. Follow my instructions quickly; the Canadian and U.S. joint task force is nearly upon you," the voice urged.
"A task force?"
Kara hesitated briefly before deciding to trust the mysterious ally. Following the telepathic directions, she led the group forward at a brisk pace.
"Such an ability…"
Beside her, the Diamond Lady narrowed her eyes, her expression unreadable as she gazed at her sister.
