Chapter 22 - Situation

Nova stood there, frozen as he remembered the strange encounter he had earlier and his eyes narrowed, as he looked at the person, it was the same person, the woman he had bumped into with the strange mask, who just disappeared before he could even say another word and now there she was standing before him, having done who knows what and for what reason.

She met his gaze and her eyes narrowed, as the man beside her, gaze shifted between the two of them wondering what was going on, though he did not ask and just observed, the two.

"What are you doing? Why did you infiltrate the order?" He asked, his voice firm, yet there was an underlying curiosity in his tone.

It was clear he wanted to know more about them and what was going on, for he knew no one in their right mind would just barge into the order, knowing how much power they had, unless you had a death wish or a really damn good reason.

"I am just doing what I need to, you will not understand, everything has its purpose, you are obviously new here, I do not mean to be rude, but I suggest you do not meddle in things that do not concern you, not everything is always as it seems," She responded, her gaze fixed on his, watching his every move.

His brows furrowed into slits as he heard those same words once again, words that he was slowly getting accustomed to, however, he did not know why it kept being repeated, one thing he did know was that the order seemed to be connected to it all.

"She is right, kid, do not get entangled into things that are beyond you, live as low as you can and avoid the gaze of those whose eyes are filled with nothing but themselves," The man beside her added, his voice firm and gruff.

"Who are you people?" Nova asked, knowing that there would be no point in asking for their motives of why they did what they did, because he knew they would not answer his questions.

"We? We are the ones who will bring order to this so-called order," She responded, in an almost biting tone and his brows twitched in slight irritation at her cryptic answers, he was not getting anywhere with the constant dodging of questions.

"You are a necromancer?" She asked as she sensed the faint aura coming off of him.

He nodded as he glanced at her, as the smoke from the explosion, created a thick fog around them, while the entire ground was in chaos, the guards and other officials looking for the intruders.

"You? A necromancer?" The man asked him, slightly surprised.

"The first in a few years, yet your aura is slightly different from normal necromancers, I wonder why that is, if I were you, I would be careful with who you trust, people like you tend to be targeted, for more reasons than one, especially with the order," She said, her tone hinting at a warning and the man beside her glanced at him.

'We did not harm anyone, we made sure the explosion would not, we did not do anything wrong, do not try and pursue us, however, I do advise the same thing she just said, see ya," He said.

His eyes widened slightly as they both disappeared after a dark red portal appeared beside them and he was about to follow, then came to a pause, everything within him, telling him to not follow.

He exhaled deeply in confusion, as he wondered what was going on, though he did not pursue them, he could tell that they were being honest, which made the situation he was now stuck in, a lot more complicated than it was before, there was much more going on.

'What the hell is with this place?' He wondered, as the smoke began dispersing slowly, around the building.

"Nova!" Someone called out to him, snapping him out of his thoughts and when he turned around, he saw Crevan approaching him, with his eyes glowing and Nova's eyes narrowed.

"Crevan," Nova said.

"You are here on time, but we have a bit of a problem, tell me, did you see anything suspicious?" Crevan asked.

Nova's brows furrowed, he trusted Crevan, due to everything he had done for him so far, but he also did not know what was going on, he knew the people he met had no bad intentions, which is why he was hesitant to talk about what he saw, so he chose not to n the meantime, not until he got to the bottom of it.

"No, I did not see anything suspicious, I just got here," He responded and Crevan exhaled deeply.

"I see, well, even if you did, stay quiet, do not talk about it, do not let anyone get under your skin," Crevan said, due to which Nova's eyes widened in surprise and Crevan chuckled at his reaction.

"You will understand sooner or later, pay attention and another thing, be careful, come on, I have to take you to the elder, while they investigate what happened just now," Crevan added.

Right then and there, Nova knew, Crevan did not fully trust the order either, despite working within it and he was now much more curious than he was before, with his intention fully being to find out more.

Crevan walked away and Nova followed him into the building, where he saw many of the officials scattered in different places, each busy, investigating what just happened.

As they were heading to meet the elder, two stern-looking, male officials approached them, blocking their path and Crevan's eyes narrowed.

"What is the meaning of this?" He asked.

"We are here to escort Nova, he needs to be questioned, he is a suspect," One of them said and Nova's brows furrowed as he clenched his fist beside him.

"Fine but I am coming with and that is not up for negotiation," Crevan replied, his tone firm, booking no room for argument.

They nodded, before walking away, gesturing them to follow and Crevan as well as Nova followed them, after exchanging glances, a silent agreement passing between the two.
