They walked through a few hallways within the buildings, passing many busy officials, who threw glances their way, as they placed handcuffs around Nova's wrist, ones that nullify magic and his eyes widened as Crevan's eyes narrowed, seeing it as unnecessary.
However, despite wanting to stop it, Nova gave him a look that said play along and Crevan exhaled deeply before nodding and they kept on walking.
Nova knew that he could not afford to get on the bad side of the order as yet, due to not knowing too much about them nor the full truth, there was still much to learn and it was a risk he could not afford, for he was still growing, both in knowledge and in strength.
After a few minutes, they arrived in front of a large dark gray door, at the end of a hallway and the officials pushed it open, gesturing for them to enter and they did.
Upon doing so, Nova looked around and his eyes narrowed, it looked like a simple meeting room, though he could sense faint magical energy coming from many corners and there was a small spiral globe, containing magical energy in the middle of a coffee table, that was surrounded by two couches.
'They created an environment that would make you feel relaxed and unguarded to interrogate you, to get the truth of you, it is a part of psychological warfare, it is also annoying,' Nova thought as he sat down on one couch and Crevan sat down on one across from him.
The two officials stood by the doorway, keeping a close eye on them, waiting for the one to interrogate Nova to arrive, while Nova was lost in his thoughts, thinking back to what had happened earlier, their words as well as Crevan's, he had a lot to worry about.
"Watch how you answer the questions and do not get caught up, if you do, they will gain an upper hand on you, if you lie, do it like you are telling the truth, that is bad advice from an adult but, in this case, it is necessary, be careful how you answer," Crevan advised and Nova nodded.
After what felt like an eternity of waiting, the door finally creaked open. Nova's head snapped up, his protective instincts flaring at the overwhelming presence that entered. A man walked in, dressed in an elegant white and blue outfit that screamed authority, it was the uniform of the order. His long blonde hair cascaded over his shoulders, framing a sharp, imposing face. He had piercing blue eyes locked onto Nova and Crevan with an almost calculating gaze, while a silver blade with a red crest rested at his waist—a silent promise that he would take action if necessary.
He took a seat before them, his foot crossed over the other as he leaned forward, looking at them intently and Nova met his gaze with an unwavering one of his own, due to which his eyebrow arched in surprise, for he was not expecting him to be bold.
"You must be Nova," he said, it was more a statement than a question and Nova nodded, as he let out a hum, seeming as though he was thinking about something.
"Crevan, do you trust this boy?" The man asked, turning his attention to his colleague.
"Yes," Crevan confirmed, his tone, brooking no room for doubt. "I trust him, because I know his nature, he has not disappointed me so far."
The man let out a chuckle, upon hearing his answer, for to them, it was rare to see Crevan opening up to new people; to let people he had only known for a few days to get close to him.
"Interesting, indeed, well, I am not here to dig into anyone's personal life, that is sort of boring but, for some reason, this time I am interested in getting to understand the dynamics, here," He said and Crevan glanced at him, his eyes showing disapproval, but the man simply shrugged it off.
"Now, regarding the incident that happened half an hour ago, I heard you were present at the time, which is what brought you here in the first place, is that true?" The man asked, his gaze fixed on Nova, watching his every move closely.
"Yes," Nova responded, his voice true and firm.
"Good, the timing was very peculiar, you were there right when a certain individual escaped and he had an accomplice, so was it just a coincidence?" He added and Nova's eyes narrowed.
"Yes, it was, I had only just entered the ground when that happened," He stated and the man's eyes narrowed, he was skeptical of Nova's words, that much was clear to anyone that was there.
Crevan's eyes flickered between the two of them, knowing that the situation was not getting any better and the man that was currently questioning Nova, was a formidable one, one who could see through even the faintest bit of lie.
Nova looked at Crevan, who gave him a subtle nod and Nova exhaled deeply, before meeting the man's gaze.
"I am telling the truth I have no reason to lie, I had absolutely nothing to do with what happened earlier, I only came here because I had to," Nova said.
"Is that so? So, you are telling me that it was all just a coincidence. Alright, let's say it indeed was, did you see anything suspicious?" He asked, as the globe on the coffee table began switching colours and Nova's eyes narrowed.
That was when Nova realized that, the object there was a lie detector, one that was made of magic, one that you could not easily fool.
"No, I did not," He responded, his voice firm, not a single hesitation and it glowed green, indicating that he was telling the truth and Crevan glanced at him.
"Seems like you are telling the truth so far then how about I test it myself," He said, as he stood up abruptly, placing his hand on Nova's head, before he could even react and both of their eyes began glowing.
