A heavy silence followed the man's last words, however, despite acknowledging his words, which were very much true and had no ill intent behind them. Nova stood his ground, he looked up at him and gave him a subtle nod, showing that he understood and the elder chuckled.
Crevan visibly relaxed when he saw there was no hostility around them, despite the leader's words, as harsh as they may have sounded, they were said with a subtle hint of care, even though Nova was a complete stranger to him, it was obvious that the elder was showing interest in him and his talents, whatever they may be to come in the future.
"For someone so young, you pay attention well, that is a good thing you seem to even be able to take criticism, keep that up and it will help you more than you realize," The elder said to him.
"Also, Crevan, do not get entangled in things that are beyond you, I know what you think and I also know that you have your reasons for helping this young man, though careful what you do," He added and Crevan nodded, for he understood what the elder was getting at.
"Nova, take this." The elder flicked his wrist, and a small insignia appeared in Nova's palm—a mark of official recognition, ones that are given by the elders within the order, another proof of identity. "Your journey truly begins now. Walk carefully, Necromancer, there will be a lot of darkness."
Nova nodded, then thanked him, as they left the chamber, Crevan let out a low whistle. "Well, that could have gone worse."
Nova smirked. "Could have gone better too."
Crevan chuckled. "True, but they are usually tough nuts to crack, they are able to see and do things a lot of people cannot do, which is why their words have weight,"
"I get that by now, he seems to hold a lot of authority within the order, given his aura, I could tell," Nova added, as he clenched the insignia in his hand. He had a place in this world now. But the real journey was only just beginning.
"You just mentioned something about his aura?" Crevan asked and Nova's eyes narrowed.
He remembered when he was head-to-head with the elder, there was a faint purple aura surrounding his body, one which had that of a creature within it, a creature that looked like a demon or at least had the presence of one.
"Yeah, he had a strong aura, probably one of the strongest I have seen since coming here," He responded, as they left the building.
"Well, that is natural given how old he is and one of the strongest among the four elders within the order," Crevan said and Nova passed as he glanced at him.
"Four elders? He is one among them, there are three more, what are they like?" He asked and Crevan exhaled deeply.
"Those three are much more brutal than this one, even if he is the most respected among them, they are not like him, they are a bit more on the rough end," He responded and Nova's eyes narrowed, he needed to know more.
"How much do you know about them personally?" he asked as they stopped at the compound's entrance.
"Not much personally, but based on my professional image, I could tell you I wish they were not here. They are complicated. They are the ones who captured the man who escaped from here earlier today as well," Crevan responded, and Nova turned to look at him.
"You mean...." Nova muttered as he remembered the man and the girl from earlier, he was still curious about them and despite wanting to know more, he knew he could not focus on so many things at once, he had to prioritize one thing first and that was getting his life there started, before digging any deeper.
"Yes, I know you saw them but I do not care, something felt off about his capture, also they infiltrated without killing anyone, that speaks a lot to me more than words, there is more to this than meets the eye, but we can get to that later, for now, your need your next move," Crevan said, turning to look at Nova with his eyes narrowed.
"So, what is it going to be you have those three options only," Crevan added.
"A hunter, I choose to be a hunter," He said, his tone firm and precise, he knew why he chose that path.
It was one with endless possibilities, though being an adventurer had many perks, there were certain things he would not be able to do, because he remembered well that within Etarion, the hunter's association carried more weight, more power, they were more needed.
"Good choice, an association that usually goes head to head with the order, they are filled with hot-headed fools though and cocky bastards," Crevan added and Nova chuckled.
"Sounds like the place for me," He remarked and Crevan nodded.
'Then good luck with that, be there tomorrow at eight, I will not be able to help you there, but if you need anything other than that, you know where to come and find me, Nova," Crevan said.
"I do, thank you, if I do need anything I will come to you first, see you around," Nova replied.
Crevan nodded, as Nova left the headquarters and the sun sank beneath the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city, as night settled in and the moon shined brightly.
After leaving, Nova returned to the place he was staying, where he got dinner from the owner of the inn, who was a middle-aged man, who had been nice to him, since he first woke up there, finding himself in a place, he barely knew anything about.
When he finished his nightly routine, he went to call it a night, with his mind lingering on the events of the day, each day seemed to have something different in store for him, while also leaving him with more questions than answers, every time, though frustrating, he was patient.
