Selena held her phone with slight anxiety, glancing at the screen showing the upcoming meeting, drawing closer by the minute. There was always a bit of unease within her before meeting clients or attending a big meeting. But today, something felt different a strange sensation enveloped her, as if a faint voice kept echoing in her mind.
After closing her phone, Selena walked out of her office toward the pantry to grab some coffee. There, she ran into Clara, one of her coworkers, who was always cheerful, though often burdened with work. They smiled at each other, but in her smile, Selena saw something unusual.
For a moment, her vision blurred, and the world around her seemed to freeze. Suddenly, a vivid image appeared in her mind Clara, in a state of panic, standing outside the office building, trying to avoid an oncoming car accident that would hit her. Selena could see Clara's terrified face, backing away in panic, and suddenly a car rushed out from an unexpected direction.
In an instant, the world snapped back to normal. Selena snapped out of the vision, her breath a little shaky. It felt like a dream made real, and even though she was used to her ability to see the future, this time, the sensation was much stronger. She knew what she had seen wasn't imagination, it was something inevitable something that would happen unless Clara was careful.
"Clara!" Selena called with concern, and her coworker turned, flashing her a bright smile.
"Selena, are you okay?" she asked, noticing Selena's slightly anxious expression.
"Clara, I... I need to tell you something," Selena said slowly, struggling with how to explain what she had just seen. Her ability had always been a burden to her. Sometimes, seeing the future could be very confusing, and this time, the feeling was much more intense.
"What's wrong?" Clara asked, leaning in slightly, looking a bit concerned.
"Don't... don't go outside alone later," Selena said carefully, trying to hide her worry. "Something bad could happen... I just feel that you should be careful."
Clara laughed lightly. "Selena, you worry too much. I just want to grab lunch. Nothing strange is going on."
Selena bit her lower lip, still unsure. But in her heart, she knew she couldn't let Clara go without warning her. "Clara... I'm serious. Please, be careful, okay?"
Clara nodded, though still not fully believing Selena. "Alright, I'll be careful. Promise."
After their brief encounter, they both returned to their respective work. Yet, the sense of unease continued to linger in Selena. For some reason, it felt like what she had seen wasn't just a vision. It felt like a warning.
That afternoon, when lunch break arrived, Selena sat at her desk, her eyes glued to her phone screen. She couldn't stop thinking about Clara and the warning she had given. "I hope I'm wrong," she whispered to herself.
Before long, loud noises from outside the office building could be heard. Selena immediately got up and looked out the window. There, on the street in front of the building, a car was speeding toward Clara, who had just stepped out of the building. Clara looked startled, backing away from the car in panic. Everything happened in an instant. Clara fell to the ground, and the car nearly hit her. Quickly, a few people ran out to help, while Selena stood frozen, her heart racing. What I saw earlier... it really happened.
Selena's heart was pounding. In her confusion, she quickly ran out of her office and to the scene. Fortunately, Clara was only lightly injured a scrape on her leg and some scratches on her hand but the accident had almost happened.
"Clara, are you okay?" Selena asked, her voice trembling, seeing Clara who was shocked but unharmed. Clara stared at her, her confusion reflected on her face. "Selena... how did you know? I... I almost got hit by that car."
Selena stood speechless for a moment, then slowly spoke. "I saw it happen before. I have the ability to see the future, Clara. Earlier, I saw you outside, and I knew something bad would happen."
Clara was silent for a moment, then smiled gently. "You're really special, Selena. Thank you for warning me."
Selena could only offer a nervous smile, her emotions a mixture of relief for Clara's safety and shock at how her vision had come true.
"Actually, I saw that earlier," Selena said quietly, trying to explain what she had felt without revealing too much. "I have the ability to see the future, Clara. Earlier, I saw you outside, and I knew something bad would happen."
Clara remained silent for a moment, her expression softening. "Thank you, Selena. I promise I'll be more careful in the future."
Selena only nodded, feeling a deep sense of relief. But at the same time, she knew that her ability to see the future was a gift and a curse. It was a responsibility that she couldn't avoid. Each vision came with consequences, and she didn't know whether her warnings would help or complicate things.
This incident only strengthened her belief that although her ability could help others, it still brought with it an overwhelming burden in her life.
