Chapter 10 - Weapons

It was time to meet the collector. On the forty-fifth day of the return, he had to meet the collector in the area where Light had sent them the coordinates. After almost 3 hours of travelling, he finally reached the coordinates and the collector's voice was heard immediately after he arrived.

"It took you a long time to arrive, employer Light."

After hearing the collector's voice, Light turned his head to where the voice was coming from and then said "How nice to see you Mr Collector, I hope everything is ready, I mean the part we talked about."

The collector nodded at these comments and then opened one of the wooden crates in the warehouse. Light was incredibly excited by what he saw in front of him. He was a coward and no one knew that better than himself. Still, he had hunted for quite a long time and was at least competent with a gun.

This made him realise how dangerous it was just by looking at the weapon in front of him. In short, he was eager to try the weapon on a few zombies.

"Have you ever held a gun before, employer Light?" The collector's sudden question was answered with a nod from Light. He suddenly took the gun in his hand and then began to examine it closely. These weapons were indeed far more dangerous than the ones used for hunting, he could tell just by holding them.

After a few grasping attempts, Light put the weapon back in the safe and then said with satisfaction, "If you can get such good weapons and each of the safes is so full, I will give you more money, Mr Collector, I am really satisfied."

The collector and the group around him seemed to be satisfied with what was being said. It seemed to make them feel good that they were being praised like this for the goods they had just delivered from the black market for no reason.

"In answer to your previous question, I have only used the XT-404 Automatic Shotgun before, so I would appreciate it if you could inform me about these weapons." These sudden statements of Light had left the group in great curiosity.

As far as they had learnt from Adam, Light was not after a rebellion or he was not planning to fund the British government with these illegally purchased weapons, but what did he want so many weapons for?

"Of course, I can explain the weapons to you, but I feel compelled to ask, employer Light, why are you seeking such a large number of weapons?"

When the collector voiced this question, Light just smiled and then replied, "It is said that there are secrets in trade, but let me tell you, don't worry, I didn't try to buy these weapons to kill people or for any other purpose, so you don't need to bother. But if I need to answer, let's say I buy and I sell."

Although this answer did not convince all the employees, all the worries and doubts suddenly dissipated because of the collector's instant laughter.

"Puhahahahaha!!! Well, so be it! Very clever and the best event of the trade, secrets are the best, well done young man!"

After all this talk, the collector went back to the safe, retrieved the gun and then held it in a ready position, pointing it at Light as if ready to fire. Light was incredibly frightened, but he managed to hold himself steady, not even close to the fear of being left alive to die.

When the collector noticed his unafraid face, he was filled with incredible interest and a great deal of pride.

"The fact that he had hunted before must have awakened talent in the little boy..." the collector thought, and with that, he began to describe the weapon.

"The gun you see here is one of the most dangerous weapons that can be fired in the world. This Belgian-made weapon is called the FN FAL and uses 7.62x51mm standard NATO rounds. Don't look at the unmodified state of the weapon, the case here is unmodified weapons. The gun itself is capable of firing between 600 and 700 rounds in fully automatic mode, it is a machine of destruction."

When Light saw the appearance of the weapon in the hands of the collector, he suddenly realised how deadly a true craftsman could look while holding a weapon, just looking at the collector would make a few ordinary people faint.

"The only thing that makes this weapon expensive is that it is not available in large numbers. So it is not a real copy as you can understand, still as strong as it is. Are there more dangerous weapons than this one? Of course, there are, but getting them on the black market is next to impossible. Not without years, not decades, of black market dominance, and unluckily for you, we're only a medium-sized black market outfit."

Light was amused by the collector's statement, he had no idea how things worked in the black market, but as far as he could see, every single case in the warehouse he was in right now and in the warehouses to the right and left of this warehouse was full of weapons.

There were hundreds of guns in these three warehouses alone, and there was no need to count the bullets.

"Second weapon. HK416 Assault Rifle. This weapon is one of the fastest-firing and most penetrating weapons at close or long range. The shortest length is 264 mm and the longest length is 505 mm. It uses 5.56X45mm bullets. Let me put it this way, when you shoot a leg with this weapon, the probability of saving that leg is only 7%. This monster can send 900 bullets to its target in a minimum time."

Light's hearing these words was indeed a sign that he could easily protect his home from both zombies and mutants in the middle of the apocalypse.

The fact that he was particularly afraid of human brutality seemed to indicate that he particularly liked each of these weapons. He certainly had a lot of respect for Adam and the collector's quick process, and even though he had paid for it, he was eternally grateful to them.

Amidst the growing tension of the last four and a half months until the apocalypse, Light easily realised that he was one step closer to his plan. Everything about the arms trade was in order, everything was now automated.

Everything was under control.
