Chapter 18 - First Kill

"I was sure you'd let Lawrence go." Petunia said in a low voice in Light's ear, and Light, hearing this, approached his sister and said, "In my dream, he sacrificed himself for you, I want to trust him." Petunia received another shock.

Petunia then looked at Lawrence, who was making a call on his mobile phone, and her face turned incredibly sour.

The fact that the man she had always thought of as her big brother had done such a thing, and the fact that it had even been a dream, only emphasised to Petunia again how endearing it was and what kind of person Lawrence was.

"Light...I've been afraid to ask, but this dream...I was wondering if by any chance you've experienced it before. Or is this what would have happened if you hadn't taken precautions?"

As soon as Petunia asked these questions to Light, Light's eyes widened. This was not an act, on the contrary, he was incredibly surprised that his sister had determined as if she had hit the target right in the centre.

"Maybe that's what happened, sis, who knows," Light answered his sister's question with this answer and then shrugged his shoulders.

Petunia shook her head at this answer and shrugged her shoulders.

She didn't want to believe that her little brother had experienced what had happened because she couldn't bear the thought of leaving her little brother alone in such a world. This seemed to directly answer the next question:

Could Light be a seer?

The answer would be [yes] in Petunia's eyes because Light not only knew what was going to happen but also showed her an incredibly extraordinary power even though she could see it with her eyes. In short, of course, everything was strange, but at least it was easy to believe everything.

The best answer was that Light was a seer.

"Thank you for telling me this, brother, I will try to help Lawrence as much as I can," Petunia said suddenly, and as soon as she said that, Lawrence addressed the pair:

"Ma'am, sir. I've finished preparing the car and I've informed the new buyer of the parent company of my resignation, I no longer have any assets in the world, other than to serve you of course."

Light, who had just sent the last of the cash to his Sub-Space, smiled and said, "Then we can go Lawrence," and with that, the trio left the warehouse.

The only thing to do now was to return home and stay alive for as long as possible, at least until the end of the re-formed 'ice age'.

The car Lawrence was driving continued down the road through the woods. It would not be wrong to say that they were almost a kilometre from home.

The group was travelling along the four consecutive roads, with Lawrence at the wheel and Light and Petunia in the seats in the back.

After only a few seconds, the sudden honking of horns began to emanate from the car and Lawrence suddenly swerved the steering wheel to the right to avoid a sudden collision.

It was too late.

"BANG!!! CRASH!!!"

The sudden collision caused the car in which the group was to crash into the trees on the side of the road with a small acceleration and the car was officially beaten to a pulp.

Even though Light was still awake, Lawrence was bleeding from the head, but he was still conscious, looking around and shouting "Sir! Sir, are you alright?!" in a loud voice.

Petunia was still conscious and holding her arm, which was broken.

When Light looked at the two, he saw that the condition of the car was not good and that's why he shouted "GET OUT OF THE CAR NOW!".

Light quickly got out of the car, helped his sister out of the car, and then quickly walked away from the car, taking Lawrence with him. Taking just one step forward to see if the person who had hit them was okay, Light suddenly heard the sound he never wanted to hear:

"Grrrrrr...."

When that heavy and oppressive sound, which sounded as if it belonged to rabid dogs, reached the ears of the group, someone fell out of the car that hit them.

This thing crawling on the ground was a zombie. It had white hair, it looked as if some pieces of flesh had fallen off its body and there was a bite mark on its body. It was clear why it had turned into a zombie.

"A....a zombie?" Petunia spoke as if she was scared and Lawrence immediately stepped in front of Petunia to protect his master.

Petunia realised once again how perfect Lawrance was in Light's dream and how it reflected the real Lawrance.

The fact that he was directly in front of Petunia at the first danger made not only Petunia herself happy, but even Light. Light realised at that moment that he could trust Lawrance completely.

"Stay back!" Light suddenly shouted and entered his Sub-Space, taking a pistol from one of the tables he had prepared and leaving his Sub-Space.

When Petunia and Lawrence saw the pistol in Light's hand, they felt strangely safe rather than frightened.

Quickly reloading the gun and reaching for the trigger, Light stared at the zombie on the ground and then, without waiting, fired:

"BANG!!!"

The sound was so loud that the birds in the forest started to fly and the snowy air literally swallowed the sound after a short time.

Light suddenly realised that he hadn't missed the hit. He was proud of himself with his gaze locked on the zombie. This was the first time he started to gather his courage.

Light had killed a zombie for the first time.

"LIGHT!" Petunia suddenly shouted as Light, who was examining his wound, turned to his sister and then saw that she was pointing somewhere.

When he looked at the pointed place, he saw something he never expected to see at the moment. This....was a group of at least 50 zombies and they were coming towards the group. They had to leave this place immediately.
