Chapter 20 - Stuck For 3 Months

"So it all begins...."

Light's words seemed to describe the beginning of the apocalypse. Even if he knew more or less what would happen from now on, Light was not a god, he could die because of a mistake, which meant that he had to train himself.

For the last 6 months, Light had been constantly devoted to training himself, unless there was something very important going on. He had been working out every single day, trying to increase his muscle level without growing, trying to do something about his stamina, and trying to practice a few martial arts.

During this time, he had learnt that status points in the system window could increase with hard work.

Of course, Light hadn't gone through such gigantic changes. He continued his development with only one or two-point increases, and as a result, almost every status had managed to increase by two points.

Of course, these statuses did not include intelligence, no matter what he really did, he could not find a way to increase his intelligence, and this revealed the strangeness of the job.

If everything increased with hard work, how could he increase his intelligence with luck?

After all, he couldn't increase his intelligence by solving a hundred maths problems, could he? Or could his luck status increase after he got out of a few dangerous situations?

Of course, the fact that he did not know anything about this subject, or rather that he did not have any precise information, was what made everything even more complicated.

"What do we do now? I mean, we made it back here, now what? Do we stay here? Will it be safe enough?" Light shook his head as Lawrence posed this question and then said, "It will be incredibly safe for the next three months, it's impossible for a single zombie to even get close to the house."

"What do you mean?" Lawrence asked, he'd seen the layers and layers of fences and at least 10 metres of wall outside the fences on his way in, but how could Light be so sure of everything?

"Right...we didn't tell you anything, did we?" Light immediately shook his head and then began to speak, it was obvious that it was going to be a very long conversation.

-----

"So sir...you are telling me that you have logically seen the future, you know partially what will happen. And the abilities you have were given to you when you woke up...All right...Then it is my job to protect you, and if there is any trouble, don't worry, Lady Petunia will be my priority."

When Lawrence spoke these words, he wanted to dispel any doubts he might have had about the people he served. Yet how could he have known that he had already sacrificed himself in Light's dream?

In the awkwardness of not knowing this, he had spoken such words, and with that, he had gained the approval of Light and Petunia.

"So we are here for 3 months huh?" When Petunia said these words, Light turned to her and started talking while listening to the news:

"Yes and no. You two will be here all the time, and I will leave when the snow slows down because I have work to do."

These words must have sounded incredibly strange to both Petunia and Lawrence, who couldn't help but look at each other.

"I know why you're acting like this, but don't worry, we live in Wales. If I stepped out of the house, I'd be in London in four hours." Light's words were actually quite correct and welcoming.

England was really not a very big country, which made transportation quite easy. In addition to that, Light had hundreds of snowmobiles in his inventory. The snowmobiles he knew how to use them the best, so it was really incredibly easy for him to get around.

"It's still going to be quite dangerous, sir. You said that civilisation as we know it is almost destroyed after only two months, but you say that you will go out when the snow stops falling...."

At these words, Light shook his head and then tried to put a lie in his mouth by saying, "Of course, it will certainly be dangerous, but I have things to do and perhaps also things to save." Of course, this was not a complete lie. He had things to do/revenge and things to save/two friends.

For a long time, Light, who always saw his friends at the university as 'fake', was in for a big shock before the apocalypse began. His two friends kept calling him, asking him if he had any problems.

Light didn't hesitate to ask for Lawrence's help to find out if his friends' backs were clean. In a way, those two were really friends with Light for the sake of being friends with him, they didn't have any ulterior motives.

"Friends?" Petunia asked, and Light, hearing this, nodded to his sister. Petunia, of course, stood as if she could not say anything after this question.

She clearly understood why she didn't invite his friends here, after all, who would believe someone who would tell them that the apocalypse was coming?

"I'll agree to everything if you promise to take care of yourself," Petunia said suddenly, and Light was incredibly surprised by this question.

Of course, he wasn't planning to go for a long time, after all, he wasn't such a skilful human being and he had an idea of the brutality of humanity.

Still, he had been training heavily for the last 6 months and had learnt many, many things to survive.

Well, at least he has done everything he could in a short time.

In the end, he would have a time frame to get to, and following the news until the news channels went off the air was all he could do at the moment. He just had to wait for the snowfall to subside and then try to survive as best he could.... outside, of course.
