Chapter 21 - Planning

When the red sun and light of the next day hit the snow, not even light could penetrate the first floor of the house.

The first half of the house was literally buried in snow, which seemed to be an important detail showing how fast the ice age was coming, after only one night, a snow mass of almost five metres had officially closed all the windows on the first floor of the house.

Realising that they could do nothing about it, the household offered to keep their bodies fit at Light's deepest request, just to be safe from any danger, and this sparked the fire in Lawrence.

Lawrance had taken martial arts lessons for a long time, after all, he was the only one who had served as a bodyguard for the Black family's previous patriarch.

That meant that both Light and Petunia could learn martial arts.

Lawrence had served in the British Rangers for six years, almost at the request of the Black family patriarchs, which had led to his strict discipline and highly detailed fighting style.

In short, there were many techniques that Lawrence could teach Light and Petunia while they were trapped here.

Because of this, Light had been woken up by Lawrence at six in the morning and had been in training for almost four hours.

When Lawrence saw that Light's body wasn't in bad shape, and that he had slightly above-average stamina, he realised just how long Light had been preparing for this apocalypse.

"I can teach this young man anything," Lawrence thought excitedly, thoughts that had been running through his mind throughout the entire training session.

On the other hand, Petunia would unfortunately only be able to do basic training until the small fracture in her arm healed, which would make her the slowest improving member of the group.

Still, it was better than nothing.

After training all morning, the rumbling in Light's stomach made him question whether or not he was in a safe house.

The images of the bruises on his arm from his sparring session with Lawrence were clearly visible through the sleeveless pyjamas he was wearing.

"I may have been a little too hard on you, sir, forgive me." Light shook his head as Lawrence said those words and then said, "No, that's fine, let me learn as best I can, I don't think a human is being out there who would show me mercy." It was as if he was telling Lawrence to be even more serious.

Even this was a heavy training for him, but if he had to face the people who had managed to kill him before, it would be the end for him, if he was untrained.

However, Light realised that he was beginning to be disturbed by that thing that kept popping into his mind. It was the eagle symbol on the back of the leather jacket Liam and the other two were wearing.

"Maybe they're an organisation?" Light had kept thinking, but comically, he hadn't found anything in the time he had searched for them after the dream, or in other words, after going back in time.

Still, he couldn't help but think that they were a group that had developed in the apocalypse.

After all, he clearly remembered that although his apartment complex was a very luxurious place, huge organisations had started to be established.

Apart from cannibalism due to lack of food, people going to loot apartment blocks was an example of such situations.

This meant that the bastards wearing the leather jackets with the eagle symbols might have been part of an apocalyptic organisation.

After all, the first three months of the apocalypse were so bad that it was difficult to even live, Light managed to live because of the supplies he had and because he lived in an apartment with enough circulation to heat himself.

After three months, however, things had changed. Although the snow had not completely melted, it had gone from 30 or even 40 metres of snow down to about 5 or 10 metres. This seemed to indicate that people could return to life.

The snow had been dug up, and despite the huge zombie population and the various types of mutants, people had strangely managed to clear parts of the cities.

Considering that even before the snow disappeared, tens of thousands of zombies were wandering in the huge cities of huge countries, an apocalypse was indeed visible to the naked eye.

This gave Light the idea that he could find his enemies. As long as Light was careful, he could get his revenge.

"Did my sister go to sleep?"

"Yes sir, she went to sleep as soon as she drank the juice I made. She needs to eat to recover, but I pushed her a little too hard despite her injury, my fault, I apologise."

Lawrence felt that he should apologise directly, after all, he was unhappy that Petunia, whom he considered his daughter, had suffered such an injury, and it was funny that Petunia considered Lawrence to be her brother.

Of course, Lawrance felt as if Petunia had been injured because of him, even if the real culprit was the driver who had turned into a zombie, Lawrance felt a great deal of remorse.

"Let her sleep, she's fine." When Light said those words, Lawrence nodded and got up from the table to wash the dishes.

Light then went to his room and lay down on the bed. It wouldn't be wrong to say that his whole body ached.

After lying on his bed, Light, who had started to look towards the ceiling, suddenly said 'system window' and the window that no longer seemed strange to him opened in front of him. After that, he was about to look at how much he had improved when he saw one of his skills glowing.

"What the hell is this?"

Light was stunned by what he saw in front of him and wanted to understand what was happening.
