I heard a few students chuckle as they walked by, standing up swiftly, I dusted my clothes, the boys had stopped playing and a blonde boy was jogging towards me from the court.
" Are you alright?" He asked.
" Am I alright? I just got hit by your stupid ball in the face." I said, pissed, glaring at the boy.
" W-we're sorry. Caleb accidentally bounced it off court." He said, looking a bit nervous.
" Fine. I'm not surprised. You all can't play shit." I said, handing over the ball to him.
" Again, we're truly sorry— wait what?" He said with an amused expression.
" You heard me." I said walking away.
" Can you play better than that?" He asked.
What?. I halted and turned back.
" I don't need to know how to play to be able to spot amateurs." I said.
" Well, little miss professional,we are the best in the state,so.... Besides, you're a girl what could you know about ball." That did it.
" Oh yeah?." I walked closer until I was standing few inches apart from him, trying to look intimidating as I stared into his gorgeous blue eyes. He smiled sweetly at me and i may have interpreted it to be a challenge cause the next thing I said was,
" Tomorrow after classes, I'll show you how it's really done. "
" Challenge accepted, cutie pie." He said and I hoffed before walking away.
I didn't even know if I would be free tomorrow....oh well.
Deciding to skip dinner, I walked out of the school block and headed to the dormitory. A few students stared at me as I walked up the stairs, seriously, is there some kind of big neon sign on my head that read 'new kid'?.
Whatever, not like I care
Few minutes later I stood in front of the four storey building that was the girls dormitory.
It was painted in a pale blue color and had had two staircases on either side.
Sighing for the hundredth time today I walked towards the building.
" Hey Coco!" It was Sidney.
" Don't creep up on me like that." I frowned at her as I walked up the stairs with her following behind.
" Okay, sorry, sorry." She chirped. Her voice was high pitched.
" How was your class." She asked and I groaned...
After four minutes of endless babbling from Sidney, we reached the third floor.
Doesn't she have anything else to do?
Thirteen B that was my room number. Each floor had twelve rooms which were arranged in rows, six on each side of the halls but this one had thirteen rooms apparently.
" ...And my favorite part of the whole school is the music studio, I just loooove music, do you like music?—"
" Can you just.... stop talking for a second, god.." I said with an exasperated sigh.
" Oh sorry, I tend to talk a lot when I'm excited. Let's get to your room, I'll help you settle in, I'm in room five,by the way, What room are you —" she stopped mid sentence as I stood in front of thirteen B.
It was small, a small room situated at the extreme end of the hall in a corner, almost like it wasn't in the building plan at all.
" That's your room!" Sidney shrieked and I turned to see a horrified look on her face
What's wrong?
" You... it's... the room.... you can't go in there." She stuttered. I chuckled rolling my eyes.
" Yeah, ok." I said turning the door knob and walking in, I was greeted the unpleasant smell of stale air. It was painted in white and had old worn out curtains and bedsheets, walking around, I noticed little cobwebs at the side of the ceiling which was already starting to peel off there was only one big window at the side with a reading table beside it, the bed was in the middle of the room, there was a little wardrobe and a cupboard shelf above it. A spider hurried past my feet and I heard a panicked shout,
" Ohmigod ohmigod spider!" Only then did I notice sidney who had jumped onto the bed in fright.
What was she even doing here?
Just then, the we heard a sound coming from the wardrobe.
" Coco, for both our sakes let's get out of here..." She whispered, still scared.
" No no, the only one who has to go is you, cause, you know, this is my room and I don't think I invited you in now, did I?" I said, dropping my backpack on the desk.
" Rude. I'm trying to save you. This room is haunted!" She said, getting down from the bed.
What a drama queen
"Really.." I said, opening the cupboard,
" Ohmigod please don't kill us, Esther." Sid said in a breath with her palm covering her eyes.
The wardrobe was empty, 'cept for a green mug. It probably fell from a shelf, hence the noise.
I didn't want to ask because the last thing I wanted was for Sidney to have a reason to stay longer in my room but I was curious,
" Who's Esther?.
" I don't know her in person. But she was the girl who lived here before, and she died...in her sleep." Sidney said,
" Okay?" I said, that was it?
" You don't understand...she...she lived here long before...they were like the first students here at Mt olives. Rumors has it that she was mean, killed people for fun and gorged herself in their blood.... she was crazy. she sold her soul to evil thus she lived a miserable life and died a cold death.....
Five students have been assigned to this room after her, three of them left the school after being traumatized by her ghost, one made it till senior year and graduated but he was never the same—"
I held back a chuckle. This may have been the craziest thing she's said all day.
" It's not funny!" She whined.
" I wasn't laughing.." I argued.
" You don't get it, Coco, the fifth student was determined to stay but one day she disappeared and no one had heard of her since." She concluded.
" Okay, scardey pants. How do you even know all this?." I said.
" Everyone knows about Esther." She rolled her eyes, her thick glasses making the action look hilarious.
" Well then, it's a good thing I don't even wanna be here, disappearing doesn't sound so bad." I said and her eyes widened.
I smirked.
She was quiet.
" I.. I'll just go to my room." She said, Heading for the door
" Great." I said, standing up to pick up a book. My stomach growled and I remember I didn't have dinner. My bags were still downstairs at the check point and I was too lazy to go get them.
" Will you be alright alone." Sidney peeped through the door, I thought she was gone.
" Get out." I snapped.
" Okay." She closed the door and walked away.
I sighed, there was a clean blanket and bed covers in the cupboard shelf, the staffs must have put it there, how considerate...
I really don't know what Sidney's deal is. Does she want to be friends? Probably.
I haven't had any real friends since I was seven dad had just died and we had to move, ever since I haven't stayed in any school for up to six months straight.
It'll be nice to have a friend, not sidney though she is annoying af. Gazing at the bed I had re-made in satisfaction,
The alarm clock in my phone beeped to announce it was 9pm.
There was no cellular network whatsoever in school premises so my phone was almost useless.
No internet. And I'm hungry.
I flung myself on to the bed. What a fantastic first day of school.
