"I hate math..." Sid groaned in a whisper as we sat through math class. Most students were either sleeping, or talking to each other and the teacher —mrs. Abernathy, didn't seem to care.
I, however, listened with rapt attention, she was quite a good teacher, and I love math.
Minutes later, the bell rang for recess.
" Thank God... If I had stayed in there for one more minute, I would've bawled my eyes out." Sid complained as we walked through the halls.
" Do we have any classes after recess?" I asked, checking my schedule.
" No we don't. We have a whole hour to ourselves.what are we going to do? I, definitely, would be in the library helping myself to a novel." She said.
We had one free hour and that was it, it was then classes all through till dinner time.
Fuck.
" You can come join me if you want, unless you want to do something else, what do you want to do?" Sid asked.
" The game.... with Blondie....I have to do it now since there won't be time later." I said.
" Wow." She gasped, looking.... stunned.
" What?"
" Nothing it's just so..."
" Hey, coco, sid." Our heads both turned to the direction of the voice.
" Tyler Banks." I said.
" Hey Tyl." Sid greeted. Tyl?
" What are you girls up to?" He asked, walking with us.
" She was about to go ask Nathan Lawson out." Sid deadpanned.
" Sidney!" I exclaimed and She gave me a 'what?' look.
" And I thought you said you were going to the library." I say.
" Nah. This is way more exciting."

" Woah, Coco, are you sure about this?" Tyler Banks asked.
Turned out, Blondie had a free period too so, here we are.
" I am." I said firmly, doing little warm ups.
" Hey, cutie." He walked into the court, wearing a tank top and knee-length short, he ran his fingers through his sandy blonde hair with a smirk making him look like he was in a commercial.
" See what you like?" He said, with a wink making me realize I was gawking.
" You wish." I scoffed.
Why did I say that?.
He grinned, revealing his pearly whites and I could've sworn I saw a little sparkle.
" Well. Ready when you are." He said, walking backwards to the other side of the court.
" This is gonna be epic." I heard sid whisper to Tyler Banks from where they sat on the bleachers. They both chuckled. They didn't believe I could do it.
" Hey, Blondie, how 'bout we make a deal." I said, raising my voice a bit so they could hear me loud and clear.
" Whoever shots the most baskets in thirty minutes win... and the loser has to carry the winner's backpack for a whole week."
" Ah.. confident, aren't we? I really don't want to burden you by letting you Carry my things all week." He said with a smile, amusement dancing in his blue eyes.
" That's if you're not the one carrying mine." I said.
He seemed to be in thought for a minute.
" What's wrong?. Scared you gonna get beat by a girl?" It was my turn to smirk.
" Deal." He said, taking a ball and bouncing it around.
I could see Sidney and Tyler Banks shake their head mouthing a 'nooo' to me.
Oh well, let's see how this goes, I definitely do not want to carry anyone's backpack around for a week.
After ten minutes, he had shot five and I had shot six.
" Oh wow cutie, I must have underestimated you, he said, bouncing the ball towards me. The next second, I collected it and headed to the basket, jumping a little as I threw the ball. Score!
" Hey come on, I wasn't even ready." He whined.
This was their best player?
" Less talking. Focus, Blondie." I said, before I knew it he had the ball again.....
He scored.
Two minutes later,he scored again.
Okay, I may have also underestimated him a bit, he was good.

Eight more minutes later, he had nine and I had seven.
" You're actually not bad Coco." Sid slapped my arm.
" Yeah, I didn't know you could play... you're like a prodigy." Tyler Banks said, patting my head,
" stop it " I say
" He's good." I said, watching as he chatted with a few guys, probably his teammates.
We had taken a five minute break and few students had come into the court when they heard he was playing.
" Yeah,no shit. He's the best player in the state." Tyler Banks informed.
" I told you." Sid said.
Five minutes were over.
" You know it's not too late to back down... what would all these students say if their star player, the best in the state was beaten by a girl." I said, I definitely wasn't gonna let him leave that down.
" Says the girl who has seven points." He reminded me. " Besides, are you still on the whole 'girl' thing? I was wrong and I apologize." He said.
" Hmmmm." I scoffed, taking the ball and bouncing it.
Five minutes later, we both had eight points.
I could hear the students whispering amongst themselves.....
Just then I scored
" Go, Coco." I heard sid say.
" Come on Blondie, Is that all you've got?" I said
He scored.
" You were saying?" He says.
It was remaining just one minute. He had decided not to try and shoot but just keep blocking me and defending his house.
I could hear a few people chant.
10, 9, 8...
Just then I saw an open spot. Yes...
Bouncing dilligently, I took one big jump, and shot.
Score!!!!
" Yay, coco!" Sid, Tyler and a few other people clapped.
Blondie looked shocked but he still had a little smile on his face.
" Guess who's carrying who's backpack now." I said with a huge grin.
" Wow, that was awesome!" Tyler said, all smiles.
" You were amazing, girl. I never doubted you for one second." Sid said, hugging me.
Weirdo.
" So, I guess I'll see you tomorrow morning then, cutie. And my name's Nathan Lawson in case you didn't know."
Oh I knew that alright.
" I'm Coco." I Said.
" I like cutie better." He smirked.
" Yeah a cute girl that just handed you your ass at a game you're supposed to be the 'best' at." I smiled as I saw his smile falter a bit before returning, he rolled his eyes,
" You'll never let me live it down will ya." He asked his blue eyes meeting mine.
" Hmmm mmm." I shook my head.
" Ahem." Tyler cleared his throat.
" I... I'll be going." Nathan Lawson said, walking out of the court.
" Ohhhh." Sid said in a sing-song voice.
" That.....was something." Tyler said.
" I know right. He's sooo hot." Sid said dramatically fanning herself causing Tyler to chuckle.
How did I end up with these two as friends?
Wait? Friends? Are we friends?
" Come on people, let's go." Sid said, walking out.
" Come on." Tyler said, pulling my arm as we walked out.
