Chapter 17 - Tanis

The Bond of Tanis

Dani wiped his brow, exhaustion weighing heavily on him. The faint glow that had enveloped the dragon faded, leaving the enormous creature lying still but breathing steadily.

A soft chime echoed in Dani's ears as a system notification appeared.

[System Notification: The dragon's life is out of danger. A bond has been formed between you and the dragon. Name her.]

He blinked in surprise, reading the message again. "A bond? Wait... her? This big dragon is female?" Dani muttered, glancing at the massive creature.

The dragon's golden eyes flickered open for a moment, meeting Dani's gaze. There was no hostility in them—only an ancient, gentle understanding.

Emma stood beside Dani, her tails swaying slightly as if urging him forward.

"Alright," Dani said softly. He placed a hand on the dragon's warm scales. "I'll name you... Tanis."

The system chimed again.

[System Notification: You have named your bonded dragon, Tanis.]

A faint smile formed on Dani's face. "Tanis... I hope you like it."

A New Ally

The dragon rumbled softly, its massive body shifting as it settled into a more comfortable position. Though weak, it seemed to acknowledge Dani's presence.

Emma let out a low, satisfied growl, sitting beside the dragon as if welcoming it into their strange little team.

Dani's mind raced. A bonded dragon—he never read about this happening in the novel. Was it his intervention? Or was this a hidden event that no one in the story ever discovered?

Looking at Tanis, Dani felt a strange warmth in his chest. For the first time since transmigrating, he didn't feel completely out of his depth.

"We're going to get through this," he said, more to himself than to anyone else.
