Chapter 19 - The Truth of Legends

The Truth of Legends

Dani sat cross-legged in the cave, staring at the two women before him. The revelation that Emma and Tanis could take human forms was still fresh, but now their story left him speechless.

Emma stretched her arms, her red hair glinting in the dim light. "So, you see, we've been here for a long, long time. Hundreds of years, actually."

Tanis nodded, her red hair shimmering. "This planet may seem dangerous to humans, but for beings like us, it's... dull. There's nothing here that can challenge us."

"So," Emma continued, leaning against the cave wall, "Tanis had this brilliant idea—'Why don't we fight each other?' she said. And I thought, why not? It'd be fun."

Dani blinked. "You two fought each other... for fun?"

Tanis gave a soft chuckle. "It started that way. But soon, it turned into something more. We battled fiercely, pushing each other to the brink. I injured Emma gravely, and she did the same to me."

Emma sighed, brushing her fiery locks aside. "We thought that was the end. We believed we'd both die. But somehow, here we are, alive... and standing beside you."

Dani ran a hand through his hair, trying to process the weight of their words. "So, you're saying you're the strongest beings on this planet, and you nearly killed each other... but now you're my allies?"

Emma smirked. "Lucky you, huh?"

Tanis's expression softened. "It's strange. For centuries, we've lived without purpose. But now, with you here... it feels different. Like there's something worth doing."
