Chapter 53 - A New Beginning

The days passed, and our family settled into a comfortable routine. I spent my days exploring the skies and learning new skills, confident in my ability to switch between my Western dragon and cyberdragon forms.

I watched as my siblings cheered me on, their laughter and shouts of encouragement carrying on the wind. Lyriath, Vyraxys, Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix, all around three years old, were bundles of energy, always eager to play and explore. And then there was little Kieraxys, just a few days old, who slept peacefully in Mother's wings.

Father smiled, his albino scales glinting with pride, as he watched me soar through the air.

As the sun began to set, our family gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories of our adventures and making plans for the future. Mother smiled, her light green scales shimmering in the fading light.

"I'm so proud of all of you," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "You're growing into strong, confident dragons, and I couldn't be happier."

Father nodded in agreement, wrapping his wings around Mother. "We make a great team," he said, smiling at us. "Together, we can face anything that comes our way."

As we finished our meal and settled in for the night, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. We had faced many challenges, but we had always come out stronger on the other side.

And as I looked at my family, I knew that we would always stand together, no matter what the future held. But little did we know, a new challenge was just on the horizon, one that would test our strength and our bond like never before...

As I drifted off to sleep, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. Our family was happy and content, and I knew that we would always be there for each other.

But as I slept, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It was as if I could sense a storm brewing on the horizon, one that would test our strength and our bond like never before.

I woke up to the sound of Mother's gentle humming. She was sitting beside me, her light green scales shimmering in the morning light. Kieraxys, our little brother, was sleeping peacefully in her wings.

"Good morning, Tharros," she said, smiling at me. "Did you sleep well?"

I nodded, stretching my silver scales. "Yes, Mother. I slept well."

Lyriath, Vyraxys, Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix, all around three years old, were already up and about, playing and laughing together. Father was watching them with a warm smile, his albino scales glinting with pride.

As I joined my siblings, I couldn't help but feel grateful for our little family. We had been through so much together, and yet, we had always come out stronger on the other side.

Just then, Lyriath, who was playing with a ball, suddenly stopped and looked up at Father. "Father, can we go on an adventure today?" he asked, his navy-blue and dark blood-red scales glinting with excitement.

Father chuckled. "We'll see, little one," he said. "But first, let's have some breakfast."

As Father spread his wings and took to the sky, I watched him go with a mix of excitement and concern. I loved it when Father went on hunts, because it meant we'd have fresh meat for dinner. But at the same time, I always worried about him, hoping that he'd stay safe.

"Be careful, Father!" I called out, my voice carrying on the wind.

Father looked back over his shoulder, his albino scales glinting in the sunlight. "Don't worry, Tharros," he said with a smile. "I'll be back soon."

With that, he banked and turned, disappearing into the distance. I watched him go, feeling a sense of pride and admiration for my strong and brave Father.

Mother settled in beside me, her light green scales shimmering in the morning light. "Let's get breakfast started, shall we?" she said, smiling at me.

I nodded, helping Mother to gather the younger siblings around the fire pit in the center of our mountain cave. Kieraxys, still sleeping peacefully under Father's favorite blanket, was the only one who didn't join us.

As we ate our breakfast, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. What would Father bring back from his hunt? And what other adventures lay ahead for our family?

Mother looks at me. "So while your father went and went hunting, let's do a mother and son bond!"

I smiled, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect of spending quality time with Mother. "That sounds like so much fun, Mother!" I exclaimed, my silver scales glinting with enthusiasm.

Mother smiled back at me, her light green scales shimmering with warmth. "I'm glad you're excited, Tharros," she said. "I was thinking we could work on your healing skills together. You're getting older, and it's time you learned more advanced techniques."

I nodded eagerly, feeling a sense of pride and responsibility. I loved learning new things, especially when it came to helping others.

Lyriath, Vyraxys, Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix, my rambunctious siblings, looked on with interest, but Mother gently shooed them away. "This is special bonding time for Tharros and me," she said with a smile. "Why don't you all go play outside for a bit?"

The younger ones nodded and scampered off, eager to explore the mountainside. Kieraxys, still sleeping peacefully under Father's wings, remained safe and cozy.

With the others gone, Mother turned her attention back to me. "Okay, Tharros," she said. "Let's get started on those healing skills. I have a few exercises in mind that will help you improve your technique..."

I trying to use healing skills, but it seems I'm not good at it

I frowned, feeling a bit frustrated with myself. I had always been eager to learn and master new skills, but healing seemed to be a different story. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't seem to get it right.

Mother watched me with a patient expression, her light green scales shimmering with encouragement. "Don't worry, Tharros," she said. "Healing is a complex skill that takes time and practice to master. You're not expected to get it right away."

I nodded, taking a deep breath as I tried again. I focused my energy and attempted to channel it into a healing spell, but it fizzled and died before it even had a chance to take effect.

Mother smiled gently. "Let me show you again," she said, demonstrating the technique with ease. Her light green scales glowed softly as she worked the healing magic.

I watched, fascinated, as the magic flowed from her scales. I could feel the energy emanating from her, and I tried to mimic it, but my own magic fell flat once again.

Mother chuckled. "Don't worry, Tharros. We'll keep practicing until you get the hang of it. And remember, the most important thing is to stay patient and focused."

I sighed "Mother let be honest. I don't think I will be good at healing magic in the future"

Mother's expression turned thoughtful, and she regarded me with a serious gaze. "Tharros, everyone has their own unique strengths and weaknesses," she said. "Just because you may not be naturally inclined towards healing magic doesn't mean you won't be good at it. But it's also important to recognize your own limitations and interests."

She paused, her light green scales shimmering in the dim light of the cave. "You know, your father and I have been watching you grow and develop your skills. And we've noticed that you have a real talent for combat and strategy."

I looked up at her, proudly. I had always really know about it.

Mother smiled. "Maybe your true calling is in combat, rather than healing. And that's okay. We need strong warriors to protect our family and our home, just as much as we need healers to keep us safe."

I felt a surge of relief wash over me, followed by a sense of excitement and purpose. Maybe I wasn't cut out for healing magic, but that didn't mean I couldn't make a difference in other ways.

I smiled. "I am good at fire and already very good at it!"

Mother's face lit up with a warm smile. "Ah, yes! Your fire magic is indeed impressive, Tharros," she said. "You have a natural talent for it, and your control is getting better with each passing day."

She nodded, her light green scales glinting with pride. "Fire magic is a powerful tool, and it's wonderful that you're exceling at it. Just remember to always use your powers responsibly and with caution."

I grinned, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. I loved working with fire, and it was great to know that I was good at it too.

Just then, we heard a faint rumbling sound outside the cave. It was a low, distant growl, and it sent a shiver down my spine.

Mother's expression turned serious, and she stood up, her ears perked up in alertness. "What was that?" she whispered, her eyes scanning the entrance of the cave.

Mother frowned. "But I don't think I have a fire element, but your formal mentor fire element does have one, and you learn a lot from him! I'm proud of you, Tharros!"

I beamed with pride, feeling happy that Mother was proud of me. "Thanks, Mother!" I exclaimed, my silver scales glinting with excitement. "I've been learning a lot from Orion, my mentor. He's really helped me master my fire magic."

Mother smiled, her light green scales shimmering with warmth. "I'm glad to hear that, Tharros. Orion is a great mentor, and I'm sure he's teaching you everything you need to know."

Just then, the sound of wings fluttering outside the cave caught our attention. Mother's expression turned expectant, and she smiled. "I think your father is back from his hunt," she said.

I grinned, feeling a surge of excitement. I loved it when Father came back from a hunt, because it usually meant we'd have a delicious meal to look forward to. And maybe, just maybe, Father would have some exciting stories to share with us.

I pled with Mother. "Do I deserve a lick?" My eyes gleamed

Mother chuckled, her light green scales shimmering with amusement. "Oh, Tharros, you're such a sweet boy," she said, her voice warm and affectionate.

She leaned in, her scales glinting in the soft light of the cave, and gave me a gentle lick on the forehead. I closed my eyes, feeling a surge of happiness and contentment.

As Mother pulled back, I opened my eyes and gazed up at her, my silver scales glinting with delight. "Thank you, Mother," I said, my voice filled with gratitude.

Just then, Father landed outside the cave, his wings fluttering as he settled onto the rocky outcropping. I could hear the sound of his claws scraping against the stone, and I knew that he was back, safe and sound.

Father stepped into the cave, his albino scales glinting in the soft light. He was carrying a large piece of meat in his jaws, and the delicious smell filled the cave.

"Ah, welcome back, dear," Mother said, smiling at Father. "I see you had a successful hunt."

Father nodded, dropping the meat onto the cave floor. "Yes, I managed to catch a nice big buck," he said, his voice proud. "There's enough meat here to feed us for a few meals."

I grinned, feeling excited at the prospect of a tasty breakfast. My siblings, who had been playing outside, came running into the cave, their eyes shining with excitement.

"Ooh, Father, can we help with breakfast?" Lyriath asked, his navy-blue and dark blood-red scales glinting with enthusiasm.

Father smiled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Of course, my little ones," he said. "Let's get started on preparing breakfast together."

Father chuckled. "Look like Tharros and Thyriatrix have mother and son bond! Hah." he looks upset but shakes his head

I looked down, feeling a bit embarrassed. I didn't want to admit it, but I had been enjoying my special bonding time with Mother. I shook my head, trying to play it cool, but Father just chuckled and ruffled my scales with his claws.

"Ah, don't be shy, Tharros," he said, grinning. "It's great to see you and your mother spending quality time together. You're growing up to be a fine young dragon!"

Mother smiled warmly, her light green scales shimmering with delight. "I'm glad we had some time together, Tharros," she said. "You're growing up so fast, and I'm proud of the young dragon you're becoming."

I looked up at her, feeling a surge of love and affection. I was lucky to have such wonderful parents, and I knew that I could always count on them to support and encourage me.

Father nodded in agreement, his albino scales glinting in the soft light of the cave. "We're both proud of you, Tharros," he said. "Now, let's get breakfast started. I'm starving!"

I grinned, excited for breakfast. "Me too, Father!" I exclaimed, bouncing up and down. My siblings, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly erupted into a chorus of excited chirps and squeaks.

Mother chuckled, her light green scales shimmering with amusement. "Alright, alright. Let's get breakfast started before you all get too hungry."

Father smiled, his albino scales glinting with warmth. "I'll start preparing the meat. Tharros, can you help your mother gather some fruits and berries?"

I nodded eagerly, happy to help. I followed Mother out of the cave, my siblings trailing behind us. The morning air was crisp and cool, filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. I breathed deeply, feeling invigorated and ready for the day ahead.

As we walked through the lush meadow, the warm sunlight danced across my silver scales, making them shimmer and glint. I skipped alongside Mother, feeling carefree and happy.

Lyriath, Vyraxys, Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix ran ahead of us, their laughter and joyful roars filling the air as they chased after butterflies and played in the flowers. Kieraxys, still just a baby, was carried by Mother in a special pouch on her scales, sleeping peacefully.

Mother smiled at me, her light green scales glinting with warmth. "Tharros, can you show me where the juiciest berries are?" she asked, her voice gentle.

I nodded, proud to show off my knowledge. "Follow me, Mother!" I exclaimed, leading her to a hidden patch of succulent berries.

Mother chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm glad you like them, Tharros," she said. "Now, let's gather some more berries for breakfast. We can take them back to the cave and share them with Father and the others."

I nodded enthusiastically, already planning which berries to pick next. As we worked, the sun rose higher in the sky, casting a warm glow over the meadow. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the gentle hum of insects.

After a while, our pouches were full of juicy berries, and we headed back to the cave. As we approached, I could hear the sound of Father's voice, rumbling deep within his chest. "Ah, welcome back, my dear! I see you've brought back a feast fit for dragons!"

Kieraxys ran and bumped into me. I didn't even fall over, but Kieraxys did

I couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of little Kieraxys tumbling to the ground. He was still unsteady on his feet, and his copper scales glinted in the sunlight as he struggled to get back up.

I gently reached out with a claw to help him up, and Kieraxys grasped it tightly, pulling himself to his feet. He looked up at me with big, round eyes, and I couldn't help but smile at his adorable expression.

"Whoa, little brother, you're quite the adventurer!" I exclaimed, ruffling his scales with my claw. Kieraxys giggled and stumbled forward, trying to hug my leg.

I unfolded my wings and use it to hug him

Kieraxys squealed with delight as I wrapped my wings around him, holding him close in a warm, scaly hug. He snuggled into the warmth of my wings, his copper scales glistening with happiness.

I felt a surge of love and affection for my little brother, and I held him tight, enjoying the special moment we shared. Mother and Father watched us with warm smiles, happy to see their children bonding.

As I held Kieraxys close, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. This was what being a big brother was all about – showing love, care, and protection to my little siblings.

Kieraxys slammed his face at my tough silver scales chest

I couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Kieraxys slamming his face into my chest. His little copper scales scraped against my tough silver scales, but I didn't feel a thing.

Kieraxys, on the other hand, stumbled back, his face scrunched up in surprise. He looked up at me with a mixture of confusion and amusement, and I couldn't help but chuckle at his expression.

"Whoa, little brother, you're quite the tackling expert!" I exclaimed, ruffling his scales with my claw. Kieraxys giggled and threw himself at me again, this time wrapping his tiny arms around my leg.

I wag my tail slightly

Kieraxys looked up at me and squealed with delight, noticing the slight wag of my tail. He giggled and tightened his grip on my leg, trying to imitate me by wiggling his own tiny tail back and forth.

I chuckled and gently nudged him with my snout, happy to see him so carefree and playful. Mother and Father watched us with warm smiles, enjoying the tender moment between their two sons.

Mother and father leave us alone for a while

As Mother and Father departed, I looked down at Kieraxys, who was still clinging to my leg. I smiled and gently nudged him with my snout, encouraging him to let go.

Kieraxys released his grip and stumbled back, his copper scales glinting in the soft light of the cave. He looked up at me with big, round eyes, and I could sense a mischievous glint in his gaze.

I folded my wings and settled down beside him, curious to see what kind of trouble my little brother might get up to.

Even though he is only a few days old and all his older siblings, including me, are 3 years older than him, I couldn't help but wonder when he will be able to talk

As I watched Kieraxys stumble and tumble around the cave, his little copper scales glinting in the dim light, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at how quickly he was growing. Despite being only a few days old, he was already showing signs of curiosity and playfulness, and I found myself wondering what he would be like when he was older.

I remembered when I was learning to talk, how frustrating it was to not be able to express myself. But with the help of Mother and Father, I had quickly picked up the language of the dragons. I wondered when Kieraxys would start to talk, and what his first words would be.

As if sensing my gaze, Kieraxys looked up at me and let out a tiny roar, as if trying to communicate with me. I smiled and nodded, feeling a sense of connection with my little brother. "Don't worry, Kieraxys," I said softly. "You'll be talking in no time."

Kieraxys looked up at me with big, round eyes, as if trying to understand what I was saying. He let out another tiny roar, and I chuckled, knowing that he was trying to respond.

I gently reached out with a claw and stroked his soft, copper scales. "I know it's hard right now, little brother," I said softly. "But trust me, you'll be talking and flying in no time."

Kieraxys snuggled into my touch, his tiny tail wagging back and forth. I smiled, feeling a sense of joy and contentment wash over me. Being a big brother was the best thing in the world.

As I continued to stroke Kieraxys' scales, he began to relax, his tiny body growing heavier as he leaned against me. I could feel his slow, steady breathing, and I knew he was on the verge of falling asleep.

I gently wrapped my wings around him, holding him close as he drifted off into a peaceful slumber. I watched over him, feeling a deep sense of responsibility and love for my little brother.

As I sat there, I couldn't help but think about how much Kieraxys had already brought into our lives. He was a reminder of the joy and wonder of discovery, and I knew that I would always cherish the special bond we shared.

I sigh and look at my siblings, who are playing around

As I gazed at my siblings, I couldn't help but smile at the chaos they were creating. Lyriath and Vyraxys were engaged in a heated game of chase, their navy blue and dark bronze scales glinting in the light as they darted around the cave. Nyxoria and Lyrixa were sitting on a nearby rock, giggling and whispering to each other as they watched the commotion. Kaidorix, meanwhile, was attempting to climb a nearby stalagmite, his forest green scales blending in with the moss-covered rock.

I watched them with a sense of nostalgia, remembering when I was their age and full of energy and mischief. Now, as the oldest, I felt a sense of responsibility to look out for them and make sure they didn't get into too much trouble. But for now, I was content to simply sit back and enjoy the show.

I look at Kieraxys, who is sleeping and wrapped around my wing him

My gaze softened as I looked at Kieraxys, who was still fast asleep and wrapped snugly around my wing. His tiny copper scales glinted in the dim light of the cave, and his gentle breathing was a soothing sound.

I felt a surge of protectiveness and love for my little brother, and I gently adjusted my wing to make sure he was comfortable. It was moments like these that I cherished, being able to care for and watch over my siblings.

As I looked at Kieraxys, I couldn't help but think about how fast he was growing, and how soon he would be joining in on the playful chaos with our other siblings. But for now, I was content to simply sit with him, and enjoy the peacefulness of the moment.

As I sat there, I began to hum a soft, gentle melody that Mother used to sing to us when we were younger. The sound seemed to match the rhythm of Kieraxys' breathing, and he snuggled in closer to my wing, his tiny claws gripping my scales.

I continued to hum, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. The sound of my siblings playing in the background, the gentle rustle of the cave's inhabitants, and the soft breathing of Kieraxys all blended together to create a soothing symphony.

As I sat there, lost in the peacefulness of the moment, I felt a sense of gratitude for this life, for this family, and for the love that we shared. And as I looked down at Kieraxys, I knew that I would do anything to protect and care for him, and for all of my siblings.

As I continued to hum the soothing melody, Kieraxys' grip on my scales relaxed, and he began to drift off into a deeper sleep. I smiled, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me.

The sound of my siblings playing in the background began to fade away, replaced by the gentle rustling of leaves and the soft babbling of a nearby brook. The cave was filled with a sense of peace and tranquility, and I felt grateful to be a part of it.

Just as I was starting to relax, I heard the sound of footsteps echoing through the cave. It was Mother, returning from her hunt. She smiled at me, her light green scales glinting in the dim light.

As Kieraxys was sleeping and wrapped around my wing, he grap my right front leg and hugged it tight

I smiled warmly as Kieraxys grasped my right front leg, holding it tight in his sleep. His tiny claws gently dug into my scales, and I could feel his slow, steady breathing against my leg.

I gently wrapped my wing around him, holding him close as he slept. It was moments like these that I cherished, feeling a deep sense of connection and love for my little brother.

As I looked down at Kieraxys, I noticed that his tiny face was scrunched up in a adorable expression, his copper scales glinting softly in the dim light. I couldn't help but chuckle softly, feeling a sense of joy and contentment wash over me.

Mother, who had been watching us from a distance, smiled warmly and nodded in approval. "You're going to be an amazing big brother, Tharros," she said, her voice filled with pride.

I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude and responsibility towards my family. Mother smiled and walked over to us, gently stroking Kieraxys' copper scales with her claw.

"He's going to be a handful, just like his siblings," she said, chuckling softly. "But I know you'll always be there to look out for him, Tharros."

I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and purpose. I would do everything in my power to protect and care for Kieraxys, just as I did for our other siblings.

Just then, Kieraxys stirred in his sleep, his tiny claws tightening around my leg. I gently stroked his scales, soothing him back into a peaceful slumber. Mother watched us, a warm smile on her face.

As Kieraxys settled back into a peaceful sleep, Mother gently reached out and stroked my silver scales, her touch warm and comforting. "You're an amazing big brother, Tharros," she said, her voice filled with pride. "I'm so grateful to have you looking out for your siblings."

I smiled, feeling a sense of happiness and contentment. It was moments like these that I cherished, surrounded by the love and warmth of my family.

Just then, Father walked into the cave, his albino scales glowing softly in the dim light. "How's our little Kieraxys doing?" he asked, his voice warm and gentle.

Mother smiled, nodding towards me. "Tharros is taking good care of him, as always," she said.

Father smiled, his eyes shining with pride. "I knew I could count on you, Tharros," he said.

As Father walked into the cave, his albino scales glowing softly in the dim light, he smiled warmly at the sight of Kieraxys sleeping peacefully around my leg. "How's our little Kieraxys doing?" he asked, his voice warm and gentle.

Mother smiled, nodding towards me. "Tharros is taking good care of him, as always," she said.

Father's eyes shone with pride as he looked at me. "I knew I could count on you, Tharros," he said. "You've always been an amazing big brother."

I smiled, feeling a sense of warmth and happiness at Father's words. I gently stroked Kieraxys' copper scales, making sure he was still comfortable and secure.

Mother and Father exchanged a loving glance, and then Mother spoke up. "We're proud of all of our children, but Tharros has always had a special gift for caring for others."

Father nodded in agreement. "Yes, and it's not just limited to his siblings. Tharros has a heart of gold, and he always puts the needs of others before his own."

I felt a sense of humility at their words, but also a sense of gratitude and love. I knew that I was lucky to have such supportive and loving parents.
