Chapter 37 - CHAPTER 37

Kaius glanced at Barry and didn't waste time on small talk. He turned to Diana and said, "I'll take you to Felicity's place. Wait for me here while I take Barry to Central City."

"Okay, don't worry, I'll stay with Felicity and won't run off!" Diana promised, though her vague words left Kaius with some lingering doubt. He couldn't forget how she had cheerfully run through the streets last night, which made him uneasy.

"Fine, I'll barely believe you," Kaius replied.

Kaius left with the two of them and dropped Diana off at Felicity's office in Queen Enterprises. He and Barry then stood on top of the Queen Building.

"Ready to fly?" Kaius asked as he changed into a black police uniform. The fabric was tough and durable, with a self-repairing feature that slowly fixed any tears.

It might be something like nanotechnology, Kaius thought, though he didn't fully understand it. All he knew was that it was much better than anything produced on Earth.

Barry was acutely aware that they were standing on the 37th floor. He leaned over the edge and looked down. "Are you sure you want to start flying from here? Why didn't I realize I was afraid of heights? And how exactly do you fly? Are you going to wear a condor mask and suddenly grow a pair of wings, or are you going to use flames in both hands to propel yourself like a rocket?"

"Shut up!" Kaius interrupted.

Without warning, Kaius took off from the building, lifting Barry by his collar and soaring into the sky.

Barry felt as though he had been yanked into the air by a tower crane. As the street below grew smaller, panic set in, and he began to struggle.

"Whoa, ah, slow down, Mr. Kaius! Brother, you have to slow down! I know I'll lose my job if I don't make it to the Central City Police Station in time, but I don't want to lose my life!"

As a hero capable of unleashing massive destructive force, Kaius glanced down at Barry, who was also looking up at him. Kaius raised an eyebrow and grinned in a way that made Barry's face turn dark with dread.

"No, what are you planning, Kaius? Calm down!"

"Barry, I can get you to the Central City Police Station in five minutes. Are you ready?"

"Don't—wait, Kai—"

With a blast of sound, Kaius stunned Barry with the speed, vanishing into the air. He shot off like a missile, a roar echoing as he sped toward Central City at an incredible pace.

Although Barry had gotten used to running at superhuman speeds since becoming the Flash, this was something completely different. Flying from Star City to Central City, a distance of about 300 miles, took Kaius just five minutes. After such an intense experience, Barry spent half an hour vomiting at the Central City Police Station, still shaking.

"Brother, are you really okay, or should I take you to the hospital? I saw a hospital five kilometers away," Kaius asked sympathetically.

Barry was rolling on the ground, too dizzy to respond properly. "No, no, I'm fine... just need a moment... to stop vomiting..."

Kaius looked down at Barry, who had nearly vomited up his entire stomach from the high-speed trip. He sighed in regret. "I really wish I had recorded that. It would have been the defining low point of the Flash's career."

"You just said... what about a hero?" Barry asked, hearing Kaius's mumbling.

"Emm... I meant there are still particle collision experiments tonight. Barry, are you planning to watch?" Kaius quickly changed the subject.

Barry, who had been vomiting for half an hour, sat to the side and leaned his head against the wall. "Yes, I want to invite my girlfriend to see it, well, not my girlfriend, she's my female friend. I haven't talked to her about dating yet..."

"Okay, I understand everything you said!" Kaius patted Barry on the shoulder.

Anyone who's watched the American TV series The Flash knows that Barry had a crush on Iris, his childhood friend, but they hadn't expressed their feelings for each other. Later, during the nine months that Barry was in a coma after being struck by lightning, Iris' father's partner, a handsome police officer, successfully got together with Iris.

However, hearing this, Barry mistakenly thought that Kaius understood he was secretly in love with Iris.

"Brother, I have a suggestion," Kaius said.

Barry looked at Kaius seriously and asked, "What suggestion? Kaius, you can tell me, I'm listening."

"We're all adults. Don't play the secret love game. If you like her, just confess. If it doesn't work out, move on. Three years is nothing compared to ten. We're good guys, so don't waste time!" Kaius said seriously.

After listening to Kaius's suggestion, Barry smiled happily. "Iris has been learning free fighting from her police dad since she was nine. I'm not her match!"

Kaius facepalmed, feeling a bit frustrated. He looked at Barry with a "can't believe you" expression.

Barry quickly corrected himself, "I get what you mean. I'll confess if I like her. Kaius, you're right. I'll find a chance today to tell her how I feel!"

"Just make sure you say it when you see her today. Emotional matters are the hardest, you know?" Kaius said, knowing that he could only help Barry so much. The rest was up to him. If Barry didn't have the courage to confess, his future wife might be swept away by her father's partner. Barry would then have to watch as his future wife kissed someone else.

How does the Green Lantern sing?

Love is like a light, so green you panic, my brother!

Barry nodded eagerly, "I understand. Thanks, Kaius! I've made up my mind. I'll confess to Iris when I see her today!"

"That's the spirit!" Kaius said with a grin, "Good luck!"

With that, Kaius said goodbye to Barry Allen and flew into the sky once again.

However, after leaving the city, Kaius flew at a low altitude, taking it slow. As he expected, a flash of red lightning appeared in the distance, stopping not far from him.

Kaius frowned and called out to the yellow figure in front of him, "From me to the city, you've been following me. Do you really think I can't feel it?"

The yellow figure flashed again. This time, it appeared behind Kaius, much closer than before.

"Who are you? Why are you in Central City? Why are you approaching Barry Allen?"

The voice of the yellow figure was deep and gravelly. He questioned Kaius sharply, clearly surprised by Kaius's appearance.

Although Kaius couldn't see the other person's face clearly, the yellow tights and the lightning bolt-shaped logo on his chest were unmistakable. All signs pointed to this being one of the Flash's old enemies—Reverse-Flash.

He was the one who killed Barry's mother, a speedster and the Flash's future enemy. Neither of them could defeat each other, and Reverse-Flash had somehow discovered the true identity of the Flash.

Frustrated, Reverse-Flash had come up with a vicious plan to travel back in time using his speed and kill young Barry Allen, erasing the Flash from the timeline entirely.

However, the future Flash had followed him back in time and stopped the young Barry from being killed. Enraged, Reverse-Flash turned his attention to killing Barry's mother instead.

Kaius smiled slightly at Reverse-Flash and said, "Stop, speedster. Should I call you Harrison Wells? Or Eobard Thawn?"
