Chereads / AM I SUPERMAN? / Chapter 42 - CHAPTER 42

Chapter 42 - CHAPTER 42

Although Jor-Lar now appeared corrupted, he was still a Kryptonian, especially since he had just been exposed to 300 times the simulated sun rays.

Suddenly, there was an explosion in the lab as Corrupted Jor-Lar crashed into a Mediterranean researcher.

It was as if an armored vehicle speeding at full throttle had run over a watermelon. The Mediterranean researcher grunted, his body was smashed, blood spraying everywhere. The laboratory was filled with screams.

"Shoot! Shoot! Kill him!"

Lex gave the order to shoot immediately. He didn't know why the subject had turned into a monster, but he knew the monster's weakness: kryptonite.

Da da da...

The green flames erupted from the barrels of the rifles, and bullets made of kryptonite zipped through the air, raining down on the Destroyer, Jor-Lar.

The kryptonite Bullet is the monster's nemesis. Despite the rapid destruction of Jor-Lar, several bullets still struck him and easily pierced his skin.

Black, sticky blood splattered.

But before anyone could celebrate, they saw Jor-Lar's wounds rapidly heal as his cells split wildly, forcing the kryptonitestone bullets out of his body at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Protected from true sun rays and various biological agents, Jor-Lar's kryptonite cells had mutated in a cancer-like manner. His cells became extremely active and could proliferate indefinitely.

Thus, the influence of the kryptonite on him was minimized.

"Roar! Roar!"

After all, Jor-Lar was a natural warrior. Even though he had no autonomy, his combat abilities were encoded in the genes of each of his cells.

In a moment of hesitation from the armed forces, he flickered, grabbing two researchers, and slammed them into the glass wall.

A loud crash of breaking glass was heard. In the next second, Jor-Lar the Destroyer charged into the armed forces, waving his arms and tearing several people apart in an instant.

"Roar!!"

Another deafening roar, and everyone in the room felt a chill run down their spines.

Fortunately, Jor-Lar the Destroyer did not continue his rampage. It seemed he realized there were things in his hands that made him uncomfortable. He bent his legs and jumped.

Rumble!

He crashed his head into the reinforced concrete ceiling, but the ceiling was fragile. Jor-Lar the Destroyer smashed through it, creating a large hole and disappearing from sight.

"Damn! Why are the green bullets useless against him?" the surviving armed men complained, trembling.

Lex, well-protected by his men, hid behind the crowd the moment Jor-Lar charged out.

"It's not that the green bullets are useless. The subject has undergone some kind of mutation. We need larger green meteorite weapons to kill him!"

It was clear that kryptonite wasn't ineffective against Jor-Lar, but its power was too weak. If they used a larger-caliber weapon and targeted his heart or head, they could potentially kill him.

"The experiment has gone out of control. Take out all meteorite weapons and destroy him at all costs!" Lex ordered through the walkie-talkie.

He didn't regret starting the experiment. After all, the opportunity to control such a powerful being was too tempting for Lex to resist.

In his mind, this was beneficial both for himself and for humanity as a whole.

As for the failure of the experiment, the researchers blaming themselves were simply incompetent.

After Destroyer Jor-Lar rushed out of the Lex Group's underground laboratory, he acted purely on instinct. He growled wildly and charged into the streets of Metropolis like a hungry wolf attacking a flock of sheep.

The corrupted warrior's instinct drove him to destroy everything in sight.

Kaius took Diana back to the small town in Metropolis. Thanks to his superhuman memory, he easily memorized all the map routes.

Of course, these routes were mainly used to help him navigate. He flies through the sky without ever having to think about which direction to go.

"Diana, you can stay at my house for now. Once you're more familiar with modern society, you can either go to work, attend school, or even move out on your own."

Kaius landed at his doorstep. Before entering, he felt the need to explain something to Diana.

He truly had no ulterior motives!

Diana paused for a moment, looking confused. "I understand work and school, like Felicity at Queen Enterprises, but why should I move out? Do you hate me?"

Her words were filled with hurt, especially with her large, watery eyes. She didn't understand what she had done to upset him.

"No, how could I betray you?" Kaius reassured her. "But if we live together, it's only appropriate for a couple—two people who like each other and would do anything for each other."

Kaius tried to explain that he didn't want Diana to misunderstand modern society's norms, but he suddenly felt embarrassed by his premeditated approach.

After hearing Kaius's explanation, Diana looked at him seriously and said, "We are a couple, and I like you very much. I would do anything for you!"

Anything for me?

How could this not make someone think...inappropriate thoughts!

Especially when such a beautiful girl with a perfect figure said those words to him. Kaius almost wanted to take out a dozen boxes of condoms he had bought before and discuss the origins of life with Diana.

No man could oppose living with her, and Kaius would be foolish to hesitate. "Diana, you can stay as long as you want. I also have an uncle who lives with me. He's a sheriff and is stern all day long, but he's good otherwise!"

As for the house with only two rooms, they could figure that out later!

Just as Kaius was about to open the door, it swung open from the inside. His uncle, James Rogers, stepped out of the room.

The two made eye contact, and the look in their eyes confirmed everything...

"You little brat! Do you dare to come back? Do you have any idea how worried I've been? Get in here! If you don't explain everything to me today, don't even think about—uh, who is this?"

Uncle James, about to drag Kaius into the room, suddenly noticed the girl standing next to him. Her face was delicate, and from her demeanor, it was obvious she came from a prestigious family. This raised questions: what was such a beautiful girl doing with Kaius?

James's imagination, sharpened by his work as a police officer, kicked into overdrive. He interrogated Kaius in a serious tone: "You've got guts, huh! Be honest and don't try to resist. What did you do with your superpowers? What's going on with this girl?"
