Chapter 43 - CHAPTER 43

Kaius was blushing at the same time and gave James a look. "What do you mean by 'the truth'? Am I the kind of person who would kidnap girls?"

James stared at Kaius with a look that clearly said, "Aren't you?"

The situation was awkward, but Diana, using her natural charm as an Amazon princess, smiled and greeted James. "Hello, my name is Diana."

"Hello, Diana. Please, make yourself at home," James said cheerfully, inviting her into the room and offering her a drink. Kaius's face darkened. Was his own uncle really acting like this?

Diana sat watching TV in the living room, while James pulled Kaius aside to the balcony and asked, his face serious:

"Can you explain to me what's going on with your superpowers and the person who appeared on the street last time? God, the fight between the two of you looked like a professional demolition team; the whole street was destroyed!"

"Where have you been all this time? And what's the deal with the girl you brought back?"

Kaius was caught in a dilemma, but after thinking about it—since General Zod's arrival on Earth, everyone would eventually know about the existence of extraterrestrials—he realized there was no point in hiding it.

"That person is an alien," Kaius said. "They have immense strength and an indestructible body, and the only thing that can kill them is green meteorite and flint, which came from the meteor shower ten years ago. There's also reliable information that even stronger aliens are coming to invade Earth."

James looked at Kaius with a strange expression. "So, are you also an alien?"

"Please, I'm your nephew!" Kaius replied. "Am I an alien? You tell me. I'm just a superpowered human, that's all."

"What about that girl in the living room? What's going on with her?"

"You mean Diana? She's another superpowered girl I met while hunting down another alien. She can help me fight the upcoming threat."

James looked at him, his face showing confusion. "What? You mean this girl has superpowers, too?"

"Of course. Don't underestimate her—she handled the American Division by herself."

Kaius's casual remark really shocked James. He gasped, took a few puffs of his cigarette, and seemed to be processing the information.

"What you're saying is unbelievable. It's like something out of a science fiction movie. Aliens, superpowers—how am I supposed to believe you?"

"I want you to believe me because you can help me fight the aliens, or not? You're getting old—maybe you should settle down and find a wife to live the rest of your life in peace!"

Kaius, as usual, made a jab at his uncle, almost causing him to choke on his own words.

Just as James was about to get angry, Kaius quickly changed the topic. "By the way, when I left last time, did you take care of the body of the Jor-Lar? Did you handle it?"

At this question, James's face froze. Seeing his uncle's uneasy reaction, Kaius suddenly had a bad feeling.

"Kaius, listen to me. The government has gotten involved, and I can't do anything about it. But I heard that the team that was supposed to handle the body was ambushed. All the police officers were killed, and the body went missing. No one knows who did it."

The body was stolen?

Kaius rubbed his temples helplessly. No wonder his eyelids had been twitching lately—this was a big deal!

James didn't understand Kaius's expression of impending concern. "It's just a dead body. What trouble could it cause?"

"If the body was in the government's hands, at least they would have kept it secure. The people who took the body obviously have no such worries, and I just hope I'm wrong about this," Kaius sighed.

Diana, who was watching TV in the living room, suddenly shouted, "Kaius, I saw monsters on the TV killing people. Is that also fake?"

When Diana first encountered TV, she had seen a werewolf killing humans. At that time, she had been wearing her Wonder Woman suit and had split the TV in half with a backhand sword.

James looked at Kaius with a strange expression, and the latter shrugged. "You may not believe it, but she's never watched TV until now."

When Kaius entered the living room, the moment his eyes landed on the TV, his brows furrowed.

The TV was showing a scene from the streets of the metropolis, where a monster covered in decaying zombie flesh was rampaging.

The cars in front of it were like paper, easily crushed under its assault. The monster was indiscriminately destroying everything on the street, and the casualty count was rising rapidly.

"Diana, this is the news, and everything in it is real!" Kaius said, taking off his coat to reveal the black tights he was wearing underneath.

"I'll go too," Diana replied. She couldn't just sit idly by and watch innocent people get hurt.

"Why do you two want to go? Can't the police or the government handle this?" James said, also watching the terrifying monster on TV. As Kaius's uncle, he didn't want Kaius to take unnecessary risks.

Kaius shook his head and pointed at the live TV screen. "You're a police officer too, aren't you? Do you think the police can handle a monster like this?"

Diana, holding the Vulcan sword with her shield in the other hand, said firmly, "We can't just watch innocent people get hurt. Kaius says this is my destiny. I will fight for this!"

James heard this and gave Kaius a disgusted look. The boy dared to say he didn't abduct the girl, but now he was taking her into danger. How could this girl be so easily fooled?

"Okay, okay, you two little ones, just make sure you stay safe!" James waved his hand, saying helplessly.

Kaius didn't bother explaining to James that Diana was older than his great-grandmother. Instead, he said, "Relax, we'll be fine," and took Diana to the metropolis.

Metropolis, a small peaceful street.

A chubby policeman was leisurely patrolling the street, holding a chicken drumstick in one hand while the pager on his waist vibrated. He staggered forward, enjoying his meal.

"Ah, it's so comfortable in a big city! The town was unbearable—always a robbery or a monster attack every few days. Thankfully, I managed to get transferred to the metropolis."

"The law and order here are so good. No terrible incidents. The people are nice, kind to one another. I like it here!"

Suddenly, a torn-up Mercedes car fell from the sky and crashed in front of the fat policeman. A zombie-like humanoid creature then rammed the streets, crushing surrounding cars as if they were paper.

The fat policeman was so scared that the chicken drumstick dropped from his hand, as if he had seen a ghost.

"Slum... What's going on? Am I still asleep?"
