Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 41

Metropolis

Today is a significant day for Lex Group.

Lex has approved the plan submitted by the Mediterranean researcher: to implant a brain chip in the subject, Jor-Lar, the star warrior, to wake him up and control him. This plan has been named the "Destroyer Plan!"

Although the powerful star warrior scared Lex, the opportunity to control such a powerful being felt worth the risk.

Plutonium, as everyone knows, is dangerous. Yet some countries would rather develop nuclear weapons, even at the risk of violating peace treaties. This is because once nuclear weapons are successfully developed, they provide the confidence to face future threats, with a powerful card to fight back.

"Mr. Lex, the armed forces are ready, and all ammunition has been replaced with green meteorite bullets."

A group of private mercenaries, armed to the teeth, stood in a row, each holding a modified rifle, standing guard over Lex.

Lex stood in front of the glass wall, staring into the operating room where the body of the Orion warrior lay, and ordered through a walkie-talkie, "Begin the experiment!"

Upon hearing the command from their superior, the researchers inside began the process of awakening the subject. They first used a scalpel made of Kryptonite to cut open Jor-Lar's head and implanted the chip into his brain.

"The smart chip has been implanted, beginning... the nerve connection is normal, activating artificial radiation at 20 times the usual strength... the wound is healing slowly, and command response transmission is normal!"

So far, the operation had been successful. The smart chip had been implanted into the subject's brain, and his nerves were responding well to the information transmitted by the chip.

This was a very promising start.

The Mediterranean researcher looked up through the glass wall, and saw that Lex, who had quietly placed his hands on the wall, was watching with a look of anticipation in his eyes.

"For the second phase of the experiment, increase the simulated solar rays to 300 times. In theory, this will activate the subject's cells to their maximum, though it is not a true resurrection. He has no autonomous consciousness and can only respond to the chip's commands."

"But just in case, prepare for battle," the researcher added.

Lex waved his hand behind him, and the armed forces immediately readied their weapons and loaded them with special rounds.

Once everything was in place, several researchers maximized the power of the simulated sun rays. After injecting the necessary biological agent into the subject's body, everyone put on special sunglasses to protect their eyes from the intense light.

The button was pressed, and 300 times the strength of solar rays struck Jor-Lar's body.

Even with special sunglasses, Lex could feel the overwhelming brightness and heat.

"How is the experiment going? Are the simulated sun rays working?" Lex asked anxiously.

The Mediterranean researcher checked the instruments in the lab. "No, there's no sign of recovery in the subject... wait, how could this be? His cells are decaying!"

The experiment was immediately terminated. The simulated sun rays were turned off, and the strong light in the room began to fade. It took a moment for Lex and the others to adjust to the darkness.

Scattered black spots began to appear on Jor-Lar's body as if his corpse were decaying. These marks spread rapidly across his skin.

Clearly, the experiment had failed.

The Mediterranean researcher appeared frantic and could not accept the results. "Impossible, this can't be! My calculations can't be wrong. There must be something I missed!"

He cut a piece of the blackened skin with a Kryptonite scalpel and placed it under a microscope.

Lex shook his head in disappointment, and the armed men around him lowered their guns.

"Cancer? How could this be? His cells suddenly became cancerous and started dividing uncontrollably?" The Mediterranean researcher turned around in disbelief. Sure enough, the piece of skin tissue he had cut with the Kryptonite knife began to recover in just a few seconds, returning to its original state.

The corpse of the Kryptonian, lying on the operating table, had been completely corroded and turned brown-black. Several raised cysts periodically appeared on the surface of the skin, and in some areas, the skin had collapsed.

"This guy is so ugly, it's like something out of a zombie movie."

Lex frowned, contemplating whether to order the destruction of the corpse. Just then, the corrupted body on the operating table suddenly moved.

"He moved! Gosh, the subject... he stood up!"

Although everyone was present to witness the reanimation of the dead Kryptonian, the sight of him rising from the operating table in such a corrupted state caused everyone's scalp to prickle, and a chill ran from the tailbone to the brain.

Huh!

The armed forces immediately raised their guns, and the researchers in the lab froze in place, watching the subject's next move with caution.

However, after a long pause, the subject simply stood at the edge of the operating table and remained motionless.

"Relax, relax, the subject is stable."

The Mediterranean researcher bravely approached the fully corrupted Jor-Lar. He pressed the button that activated the smart chip and ordered Jor-Lar: "Sit on the operating table!"

Corrupted Jor-Lar shook slightly, then obediently sat down on the operating table.

Seeing this, everyone in the room let out a sigh of relief. The Mediterranean researchers watched Jor-Lar in his decayed state for a while. Although the experiment was gruesome, it was at least manageable.

"The subject is stable. I need to collect more samples for research."

Since Jor-Lar was sitting quietly on the table, the other researchers gathered their courage and approached. They picked up a syringe and attempted to draw blood.

The metal needle pierced Jor-Lar's decayed skin, but it broke instantly.

"Hey! Don't be fooled by his skin looking like a rotten plant. Ordinary steel can't break through his defense. First, use the green meteorite knife to cut his arm, then draw the blood. Don't worry—he's just an unconscious, walking dead now!" said the Mediterranean researcher.

"Yes, yes! I know, Director!"

The researcher quickly switched to a trowel, cut open Jor-Lar's skin, and began to draw blood.

However, Jor-Lar, who was supposed to have no consciousness, suddenly showed a fierce expression when the stone knife cut through his skin.

"Roar!"

Corrupted Jor-Lar swiftly grabbed the researcher who had cut his skin with the kryptonite knife and threw him aside, causing the half-full syringe to crash to the ground.

The armed forces outside immediately surrounded Lex, holding their kryptonite bullet guns aimed at the corrupted Jor-Lar.

"Wait, don't be hasty, wait!"

The Mediterranean researcher raised his hand in a calming gesture. He activated the smart chip again and ordered Jor-Lar: "Let go of the person in your hand! I order you to sit down! Repeat: Put down the person in your hand and sit back down!"

Corrupted Jor-Lar's head twitched. His eyes seemed unfocused and vacant as he stared ahead, then slowly lowered his arms.

Just when everyone thought the researcher was safe, Jor-Lar tightened his grip, crushing the researcher's neck like soft soil.

He then lunged forward and crashed into the Mediterranean researcher.
