"Name, Robins Adams. Time of death, 7:15 pm. Cause of death is definitely excessive bleeding ". I explained. It was the nineteenth murder case I had worked on. In the modern world I live in, serial killings were tagged 'common'. The victim, Robins Adams had been found in her home lying unconsciously with blood stains in some part of her body. To be precise, it was clearly a murder case.
"While we wait for the autopsy results, let us begin with the investigation." Team leader Collins Jordan said.
"But, Detective Martins asked us to wrap up the investigation."
"I know that but we are going to carry it out secretly. We cannot afford to lose the culprit, even the higher-ups are on his side."
"We don't know the cause of death yet, why are you concluding that there is a culprit?" I asked. I knew it was murder but, the whole situation resulted into me doubting whether or not it was a murder case. I had many experiences that taught me to be doubtful.
"There goes you again, detective Jude Asher. This case is clearly murder and this is not the first time someone was killed in that manner. I mean, you saw how brutally the culprit was killed, why on earth are you guessing?" As seen, that was not my first time neither was it my second.
"You call that brutal. Detective, you know as well that the culprit did not die brutally. He got a knife, stabbed into him and blood was all over him. The only scar he had was from the knife. And you do call that brutal? The victim could just stab himself. I do not understand why you came into that conclusion." I asked with my eyes fuming with rage. Bad memories resurfaced.
"Sometimes, I do believe you are a psychopath. Murder is murder. Brutal or not, it is still murder. You know it is, so, do not let us waste our time here and let us start. And I am the team leader here, I decide whether we continue or not."
As an adult, there was only one thing I hate about my job. Minor cases. There were several unresolved murder and I could not understand why we decided to stop investigating. What I loved the most were real blood gushes, deep scars, broken body parts, death due to arson and many more. Call me a psychopath, but those were really the cases I wanted to work on. Due to how life treated me, I had no emotions, I was not born that way but I was reborn that way. Maybe someone else did not know this, but all I wanted was revenge. That was why I became a detective. Someone deeply messed with my family, and I was ready to show the person what hell really meant. I had waited for ten years, and I believed that year was the perfect year to screw the person up. Believe me, I had plans.
"Now listen, the victim was stabbed with a knife. I have concluded it is not suicide. Judging by the person's character, he is not the type to hurt himself. Even if he wanted to die, he would have taken in poison…"
"If it is truly murder, then the culprit is not a serial killer." I said.
"What do you mean?"
"There was no sign of force or beating on the victim's body. The culprit might not have the intention to kill him at first. Something must have triggered him. I think the culprit might be someone weak, someone who has not killed anyone before. It will be easy to catch him."
"That is it. What I really want is ideas. Instead of doubting the whole issue, bring ideas." Collins Jordan replied. "Now, we will look at it that way. Check all the CCTV Footage near his house. Find out if there were any witnesses. Figure out who the victim called frequently, last and less. And till the fingerprint results from the knife is ready, find out where the victim attends frequently and who he ignored the most. I do not know how you are going to group yourselves, do as you wish." He further continued as he left the staff room. Well, they do say every minor cases require a lot of efforts to solve and that did make perfect sense. Even if the darn culprit was arrested, it would not pay for all efforts I made.
Being a detective often made me realize that there were a lot of bad guys in town. It often reminded me of my parents' death and tells me I was not the only one. I had no time to laugh, I was so focused on how I would totally screw them up.
"What is the plan?" Lily, my older sister asked.
"Firstly, you have to seduce Lott's Chairman. We have to get her divorced. We cannot do anything now when she has her husband behind her."
"Is there a plan B? What if he does not fall for me, I heard he is loyal."
"He is a man. He can fall to seductions. He did nothing wrong to us, so we have no business with him. The only one we have business with is her, nothing changes that."
"Ewan… I mean, Jude. She has been helping him in his company, because of her, his company's stock prices are rising. He will not want to lose her."
"I know, that is why we are going to strike a deal with him. A deal he would never refuse."
"And what is that?"
"I will tell you that later. Have *** with him, so he will not be suspicious."
"Why are you suddenly bringing that up? How can I have *** with the acquaintance of my enemy?"
"You did ten years ago. You even got pregnant. Be careful not to this time."
"Are you crazy? Why are you reminding me of my dark past? Honestly, I miss the old you."
Anyone would miss the old me, a perfect non-offending me! A nerd! Maybe I am still a nerd, but a psycho-nerd. About Robins Adams, the autopsy results came out and it stated he died from extensive bleeding. Though Detective Martins nagged us for opening a secret investigation, but after several appeals, we were allowed to catch the culprit. It turned out that the culprit was the victim's son. I believed it as it was not the first hearing cases like that. The culprit had always asked the victim for shares in his company, but the victim refused. Due to anger and loss of control, the culprit stabbed the victim once, got scared and ran away. He was really daft, he left so many hints. He was caught on the CCTV footage. That was what I meant by minor cases.
