Chereads / Nerd Vs Killer / Chapter 6 - 6

Chapter 6 - 6

You must have been wondering where I got phone. Never mind but it was my mum's. Well, I deeply regretted when I got home. Maybe for once, I did not act smart.

"A girl has been calling me since claiming she wants to speak to you. Even if I ask you to make friends, I don't know you would obtain a girlfriend so fast. I don't care if you two are dating, as long as you don't bring me home a grandchild. My life is already messed up with you. Don't add to it!" She shouted. Well, it was due all day. The next day was not an exception. Was it the impromptu investigation I got from my sister? Or the nagging from my mother? Well, my sister's own was worse.

"Who is she? Is she pretty? Does working there make you interested in girls? Do you want her? Is she as pretty as me? Or prettier than me? Come on, answer me. "I really wanted to answer her but she kept on talking. She sounded desperate. I could not tell whether or not she really wanted me to get a girl.

"No, and there is no such thing like that. I don't like her." I finally got the chance to talk.

"Then, why did you give her mum's number if you are not interested in her?"

"I really wanted her to go. I wanted to give her a fake number but what came to my mind was mum's number. Sorry. "I replied.

"Does that even make sense? Listen, date that girl. And bring her home for me to see her. "She said smiling. I never knew my sister was that naughty?

"What? I am not going to do that. "I said as I walked out. Of course I was not fast, she could easily drag me back.

"When you have changed your mind, let me know about it, okay?" She shouted. Wow! Even till know, I still found it difficult to believe that Lily was like that.

I wished I never saw that girl again. But the wish never came true. Known to her that I worked at the convenience store, I was been visited by her several times. I did not want to listen to her story, but every time, she would take a product and run away with it. Sure, I always paid. Because I was a nerd, I could not confront her. My social skills were lacking talk less of my confront skills. Strangely enough, we became friends. Well, if that was how friends were been made, let's say it worked out for me.

"Have you ever thought of what you want to become? Probably a footballer or baseball player?" She asked. Gross! How could she talk about sport at that moment?

"I am not into sports." I replied.

"Oh! You are so boring. Almost all guys are into sports. Even girls, my sister is into football. So, what is your hobby?" She asked as she shrank.

"Learning. I just want to keep learning all my life. "I replied as I crossed my arms, and of course — my face facing down.

"What? Oh jeez! If you do that, you will fail to understand how good life can be. "

"What is the point when I have not realized the real person that created the world and how and why?" I said this time facing up.

"My mum says its Jesus, my dad says its Buddha, and my sister said its humans. I don't know who to believe. "She replied. Well, that was useful.

"If I were to pick from your options, I'll go with Jesus. "I replied. But honestly, I was a devoted atheist. I believed there was another God we have not found out.

"Why?"

"Buddha, to me is lifeless. And I don't think a lifeless thing would create the world. Humans don't have the power to create the world as they were also created. And I don't know anything about Jesus. "It was the first time I shared my opinion to someone.

"But Jesus is imaginary to me. No one has seen him. Don't you think what is seen is more believable?"

"No. Someone who created this world would not just show up like that claiming he is the creator. He would want to act like the boss without anyone seeing him. If I were him, I would do more than that. "

"You talk a lot, don't you? I think what you have to work on is your social skills. "She replied. Instead of saying anything, I did refused her observations by nodding.

"Well, something good is happening to you right? You have been offered to go to school if you worked. I would be very elated if I were in your shoes. "I did not seem to understand what she meant. Like what kind of person would be elated if she had the opportunity to work and not go to school? Gross! I feel nauseated.

"Why?" I asked just to sound curious and normal like any other person.

"My mother is bring threatened by my father. The whole issue has been a very big problem. "She said with tears in her eyes. I did not know how to sympathize with someone but I do know one way.

"Aw. Why?" That was all I could say.

"My father, ever since my parents divorced wanted to have me and my sister but my mother disagreed. She insisted that if we lived with him, we are going to have big problems. Now, he's threatening her to give us to him. "Her story did not make perfect sense to me. Like they could easily go to court and settle the whole matter.

"The court could not settle it?" I asked.

"They did. They asked my father to back off. But he is pretty adamant, isn't he? He still wants us. "She wept, not crying this time—wept.

"Do you want your father?"

"No. What kind of idiot would want such a father? He does not care about us. All what he wants is to brag to his friends that he has kids. "Well, my father was also like that and there was nothing cool about it. At least, he and my mother never divorced and he didn't threaten her. That was a relief.

"Then, why do you still run errands for him? You come to buy cigarettes for him most of times. "

"Well, that is a lie. I am actually the owner of those cigarettes. Sorry. "She said. Well, I had never been more pained than that day. Like how could someone I thought would not lie to me, lie to me? Nothing else would ever pain me than that.

I did not bother saying anything for barely two minutes and nine seconds because she broke the silence.

"So, do you even know my name?"

Honestly, was that question meant for that situation? I gave her a side-eye like the one my mother would give me when I refuse to greet a neighbor. Then, I realized I did not know the 'so called' girl I called my friend's name. Wow! Well, at that moment, I was not curious.

"Diane." She said. Yeah... Whatever her name was did not bother me. I just hoped I would remember it when I had gotten over my anger. Well, since she left the store, I did not see her until...
