Finally, I had to quit school. Convincing my mother was something neither my sister nor I could do. Having a very adamant mother like her was not easy, she was like a hard rock. No one could break it easily. Well, we made quite a deal and that was why I agreed.
"You quit school, work, make cool money and bring it home. When you make more than enough, you can continue schooling. "
"Mother, I am not sure I can do that. School is everything to me. It is all I rely..."
"Shut your mouth up! I don't want what has come over you lately that you think it is the best to reply to me while I am talking. What gave you the nerves?" She shouted with her eyes burning with flame. I was so shocked that I nodded repeatedly with no hesitation.
"Now listen, you are going to do what I want you to do and when you grow up, you will understand I am doing all these for you." She said. I knew all those were not for me. It was obviously for her.
'Go out, work, and make money? Like she would not be the one to collect the money? Like seriously?' I thought with my face looking down.
I went to my room and threw myself over the pillow. The thought of quitting school made me overly nervous. Then, I had to get exposed to the real world. Fighting over pounds and dollars, struggling hard to get even a penny. Those things were not what I really wanted to do. I just wanted to keep learning about this darn world. I had to work at a convenience store where I was being paid two dollars per hour. It was good for a start right? I worked up to ten hours a day. But it was not easy. At the same time, it was fun, I had to do mathematics in my head.
My life was pretty normal not until a strange, weird girl got involved. I was sorting out some similar products when the 'so called' girl entered. Her hair was blonde, she did look like a badass, but in another side, she was not. She smelled like coffee. It was weird.
"You got cigarette?" She asked me. 'An under-age trying to get cigarettes? I really want to say something to this girl '. I thought but instead of talking, I replied with no.
"Come on, I have been here earlier and your boss said there is." She said. Oh! The indisputable gender! Women! People I just did detest.
"You knew that and here you are asking me?" I replied as I adjusted my glasses. Definitely, I never made eye contact. It was my weakness.
"You're new here?" She asked.
"Yes."
"Well, I guess you are belittling me because I said I want cigarettes. But, guess what? It's my dumb dad's. I am being forced here to get him for him. And you don't even know my age, how can you think I am an under-age. "She explained. I did not need all those explanations but it cleared off some misunderstandings.
"Okay." I replied. "It's over there." I said pointing over to the side where they are. Less than five minutes passed, she came to my counter to pay.
As I was doing the math, she interrupted! What the heck!
"So, cutie. What's your name?" She asked looking at me weirdly. Strangely, no one had ever looked at me that way. It was just like you wanted some pizza from your parents and you had to do some expressions which make it seems like you wanted it. Well, that was a long explanation for a just a normal gaze.
Being called cute did not surprise me, I know I am cute.
I did not reply. Well, it would be a waste of time if I did.
"Are you a nerd? You did not look at me since. You are definitely my type. "She said smiling.
Maybe I was wrong, she is a badass.
"Answer cutie." She said again.
"Your total bill is $3.48. Are you paying in cash?" I asked ignoring the whole hassle.
"You have never kissed a girl, have you? It is very good. You want to try it with me? I love your lips. "She said again. This time, I was really pissed.
"Miss, I hereby acknowledge that you should pay for your cigarettes and leave this store please?" That was very polite.
"I will until you agree with me."
"I don't want to. Please pay. "As a young teenager, I stuck with the term 'the customer is always right '. Like my boss once said ' there are a lot of crazy customers, but make sure you don't throw a tantrum. '
"How about you give me your number?" She asked.
"Or? You don't have money to pay, do you?" I asked this time in doubts.
"Of course I do. What school do you attend? I can switch schools to yours if possible. "Luckily for me, I did not have a school.
"I am not schooling." I replied.
"Really? Then, where is your house? You do have a house, don't you?" She asked.
"W... What exactly do you want from me?" I asked.
"You." She said and smiled. She looked like an innocent person. I could clearly understand that it was due to circumstances that she began to behave that way. So, I played along with her.
"Ewan, 469..." I replied.
"Ooh! Did you fall for me already?" She asked.
"No, I just pitied you. You did not write the phone number down?" I asked.
"I did. It is right here. "She said pointing at her skull." But Ewan, your name means death. Why is that?"
"Because death is equal and unique, and so I am. Please pay. "I replied. Well, I found a cool meaning to my name.
"No, I'm not going to." She replied as she ran out.
What did I expect? Her paying after thinking I was into her? Or, her being submissive? That's why she is a girl. Unrealistic but stubborn gender!
