Chapter 3 - Diary

Savanna's POV

As I stepped into my dorm room, the familiar scent of old books and laundry greeted me. I barely made curfew. I sighed listening to the soft hum of the campus outside filtered through the slightly open window, and I could still feel the cool water of the ocean clinging to my skin and my clothes. It was surreal to think about the night I'd just had—swimming under the moonlight with Sean. I got undressed and put my wet clothes in the washer. Stepping into the shower letting the warm water heat me back up from the cold sea. Once I was sure all the salt water was off of me I dried off getting dressed in my pajamas and leaving the bathroom.

I closed the door behind me, leaning against it for a moment to collect all that just happened this evening. The vibrant images of the ocean danced in my mind: the shimmering surface of the water, the way Sean's tail flicked gracefully as he moved, and the crystal blue of his eyes that seemed to hold entire ocean within them. I had never expected to meet someone like him, let alone share such an incredible experience.

I flicked on the light, illuminating the small space filled with mismatched furniture and half-open textbooks. My roommate, Natali, was out for the night, probably at a party or studying late in the library, leaving me in a peaceful solitude that felt perfect after the excitement of the evening. I kicked off my shoes and tossed my bag onto my bed, still feeling slightly giddy.

I walked over to my desk, grabbing my phone to check for any messages. Nothing. That was fine; I didn't need to share this experience just yet. I wanted to savor it for a while, to let it settle in my mind. As I sat down, I found myself absentmindedly tracing the outline of the ocean on my desk, thinking about how different my life felt now, how vibrant and full of possibility.

After a few moments, I pulled out my journal, the pages filled with past thoughts and sketches. I flipped to a fresh page and began to write, trying to capture everything—the way the water glistened under the moonlight, the sound of Sean's laughter, and the feeling of weightlessness as we swam together. Each word felt like a small piece of that magical night, and I found myself smiling as I wrote.

The clock ticked softly in the background, and as I wrote, I could still hear the whispers of the waves in my mind. It was a night I knew I would never forget, and as I closed my journal, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. Whatever tomorrow brought, tonight would always be mine. I pulled out my phone and text a brief summary of what happened to me this evening to my best friends Molly and Brooke and making sure to add were going on a date this Friday after class! I fell alseep soon after. Letting todays excitement lull me to sleep.
