Chapter 7 - Setting Out

Sean's POV.

As I arrived at the meeting place two hours early to stash the newly repaired paddle boat, I couldn't help but admire the craftsmanship. Klien had truly outdone himself; it looked brand new. I made a mental note to reward him for getting the job done so swiftly

While I waited for Savanna, my thoughts drifted to days before—specifically, the way her wet clothes clung to her skin, accentuating her curves. I wondered what she would wear today and found myself considering the idea of bringing her one of the latest mermaid tops next time. But then I quickly dismissed the thought; they didn't have bottoms, and I didn't want my mind wandering down that path.

To clear my head, I dove back down and began to pace along the sea floor, staying close to the meeting spot. I resurfaced a moment later to check the weather, relieved to see clear blue skies. Everything seemed perfect for our outing.

I decided to relax, floating on the surface of the water with my arms behind my head. The warmth of the evening sun and the gentle autumn breeze felt soothing, almost lulling me into a tranquil state. Soon, Savanna would arrive, and I felt a mix of anticipation and excitement as I waited.

Savanna's POV.

As I arrived 20 minutes early, taking my time along the shore, I didn't see Sean yet, but I was sure he'd show up soon. Just as I was about to settle in and enjoy the view, I noticed something drifting in the water. Curiosity piqued, I stepped closer and realized it was Sean, looking completely relaxed and seemingly asleep.

I waded through the water, leaving my bag a few yards away on the shore. "Good evening, Sean. You look relaxed. Not nervous about our date?" I teased, hoping to catch him off guard.

Startled, he shifted to face me, his expression a mix of surprise and embarrassment. "Of course I'm nervous; you're beautiful!" he blurted out, his cheeks turning three shades redder as the realization of his words sank in.

I gasped, my own cheeks heating up at his compliment. "Thank you; you're pretty handsome yourself," I replied, managing a smile while trying to keep my tone neutral. It was hard to play it cool when my heart raced at his words. I hoped he wouldn't notice just how flustered I felt.

After exchanging a few compliments, Sean motioned for me to follow him. With a smile, he led me further down the shore, his confidence easing my nerves. As we approached a cluster of rocks, he stopped and looked back at me, a hint of excitement in his eyes.

"Okay, you're going to love this," he said, and with a quick motion, he pulled aside some seaweed and debris to reveal a beautifully restored paddle boat hidden among the rocks. "My knight Klien repaired this for us it was in a ship wreck near my castle." Sean explained. The sunlight reflected off its polished surface, and I could see the attention to detail that Klien had put into the repairs.

"Wow, Sean! It looks amazing!" I exclaimed, genuinely impressed. It was hard to believe it had been in disrepair not long ago.

He chuckled, clearly pleased with my reaction. "I thought we might need it for the long swim ahead. I figured it would be a nice if you rode in the boat. This would give us a chance to explore some of the nearby coves without you tiring yourself out too quickly."

I nodded, appreciating the thought he had put into our outing. "That sounds perfect. I can't wait to see what's out there." I felt a thrill of excitement at the prospect of our adventure together, and I could tell Sean was just as eager to set out.

As I looked around the boat, I suddenly realized something was missing. "Um, Sean, where are the paddles?" I asked, a hint of confusion in my voice.

He grinned at me, his expression boyish and full of mischief. "We don't need them. I'm going to push you in the boat," he replied, his tone light and playful.

My eyes widened at the unexpected suggestion. "Oh, okay," I said, a flutter of nerves dancing in my stomach. The thought of being pushed along in the boat was new and slightly intimidating.

"Come on, hop in!" he encouraged, his smile reassuring me. I hesitated for a moment, then walked back to grab my beach bag before climbing into the boat.

As I settled into the seat, I tried to shake off the unease. "This will be fun! You ready?" he asked cheerfully.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I replied, my voice a mix of nervousness and excitement, akin to the feeling you get before a roller coaster ride.

"Let's go!" I cheered, trying to embrace the thrill of the moment and the adventure ahead.
