Sean's POV.
I swim just below the surface, I catch sight of Chris grappling with the narwhal, his movements powerful and determined. The water churns around him, and for a moment, I feel a surge of admiration for his bravery. But then, I hear a thudding sound that sends a jolt of dread through me.
I look up just in time to see the narwhal collide with Savanna's paddle boat, the impact sending her tumbling into the water. My heart drops, and I kick hard, propelling myself toward the surface. I watch Chris swim straight toward her, his speed admirable. He reaches her just as I hear her voice pierce through the chaos, "HELP! Sean!" Panic is etched into every syllable, and it sends a wave of urgency crashing over me.
I break the surface, scanning for them both, my instincts kicking in. Chris has a firm grip on Savanna, but I can see the fear in her eyes. I move closer, ready to help, ready to do whatever it takes to get her to safety. Then she goes limp. I throw a part of the broken paddle boat away from us the narwhals give chase, creating a diversion that allows Savanna to surface, Chris not realizing he had let her head submerge under the water. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. As I hear her breathe in deeply. Chris, his expression focused and intense, quickly turns over to me, passing Savanna into my arms.
The moment I take hold of her, I can feel the weight of her body, and my heart races. Her skin is shockingly cold against mine. I glance at her face, and a knot of panic tightens in my chest as I realize her eyes flutter closed. "Savanna!" I call, my voice edged with urgency.
I place the necklace, that allows her to breathe underwater over her head. I dive under the surface swimming as fast as I can to my castle, my mind racing. I can't let her black out. I can't lose her like this. "Stay with me, Savanna!" I urge, desperate to keep her consciousness tethered to the moment.
I can feel the water pulling at us, the chill seeping into her bones, but I keep swimming, focused on the route to the castle ahead. I glance back at Chris, who's still watching for any sign of the narwhals returning, and I nod in gratitude. He follows but keeps a distance. Still keeping guard for us so I can focus on Savanna. Suddenly Klien is at my side. "Sire, the necklace may help her breathe underwater but the water is still to cold for her body." My heart dips.
"Hang on, Savanna. Just hold on!" I say, my voice low but firm, trying to instill a sense of urgency in her as I push onward, praying that we reach the safety of the castle in time.
AAs I swim through the depths of the ocean, Savanna cradled in my arms, I can feel the cold wrapping around us like a vice. The chill is biting, and I know I need to get her to safety quickly. The underwater currents swirl around us, but I push through, my determination driving me toward the castle that looms ahead.
Finally, I reach the grand entrance of my underwater castle, the massive doors carved from coral and adorned with shimmering shells. I burst through, startling a few maids who are passing by. Their eyes widen in surprise as they take in the sight of me, soaked and carrying an unconscious human. The foyer is magnificent, with a grand central staircase spiraling upward, but I have no time to admire it right now.
I ascend the steps, my heart pounding in my chest. As I pass by the familiar face of Krissy, the head maid, she looks at me with an expression that blends curiosity and annoyance. "Sean, what is that thing you're holding?" she whines, her voice high-pitched and grating in my ears.
I stop and meet her gaze, my expression firm. "This is your queen," I reply, my tone leaving no room for argument. "You will tend to her and address her as such. I also can't recall a time I gave you permission to address me by name."
Krissy's mouth drops open in shock, her tail swaying slightly in the water as she processes my words. I can see the gears turning in her mind, but I turn away, not wanting to engage further. Savanna's wellbeing is all that matters right now. I continue my ascent, focused on getting her to my chambers and ensuring she receives the care she needs. I focused on keeping her warm, while I wait for the royal
doctor.
