Hagan wasn't sure if he could fight his way out with two gaurds being in the room at all times, he'd only recently learned how to wild a sword and just two days before killed his first creature with one. But, with the [Light] enchantment, he could buy himself enough time to cut the chains and escape with shadow teleportation.
So, when the interrogation was over, he'd try exactly that.
In the meantime, he was subject to more torture and questioning. But it was peculiarly more vile than the day before. The village chief had a disgusted expression and had brought three more gaurds with him so there were a total of ten now.
"Do you just enjoy this? You not only escape in the night, you kill four more people, and then you… come back down here? Why?"
Hagan was shivering and hurt, he'd never escaped, as far as he knew there was only one way out and he didn't know if it would work.
"I- I never e- escaped. I've b- been here the whole t- time."
"So you're saying that these four people who died last night were just a coincidence?" The chief shook his head with disdain and let out a heavy sigh.
"You do realize the longer you deny, the more pain you'll experience, right?"
The two guards then picked Hagan up and began punching him repeatedly in the stomach and sides. Then they pulled up a chair and sat him down, Hagan wanted to dearly to escape this terrible place but he knew he had to wait.
Hagan was questioned, answered honestly, then hit, again and again and again.
By this point, Hagan was washed in red, his clothes were destroyed, he had lacerations all over, and he was now detesting the Gods for not allowing him to lie and admit to the murders.
A few painful hours later, there was only three people left in the dungeon. Hagan ate his stale bread and drank his dirty water, hoping to gain at least a little strength to fight his way out.
Then, he let out a few pained deep breaths and steeled his nerves. Hagan focused on summoning his Sword of Light, and then…
nothing happened.
He tried again, nothing happened.
Again.
Again
Again
Nothing happened. Now, Hagans spirit was crushed. He had no idea how he'd escape now. And so, many days passed - weeks? - with the same process repeating over and over.
"Why, Hagan? Why? Tell me!"
Eventually, Hagans mind was all but broken.
'Someone, help. Someone has to, something has to the Gods had to, they said they would! So, why? WHY!? Please.'
There was no way to tell how much time had passed and although Hagan was too weak to even poop himself up, more and more villagers were dying. The chief was cruel and never let up his torture even though Hagan was very obviously not the one committing the murders. Hagan probably would've believed he did kill the villagers if not for the Gods.
Then, Hagan wasn't woken up by cold water, being hit, or being belittled, in fact, nobody came to the dungeon and the gaurds weren't there.
