Author, had been shocked by the sudden words Adria said.
She sighed, her eyes now closed.
Why was his reaction, still bothering her? She scoffed and looked out the window, wind blowing the trees, and the clouds coming together.
It was about raining.
Javen walked in.
"If your not to busy… there's someone here to see you."
"Hm?" She turned her attention towards the door.
It opened wider, only for her to see Dakota.
"Da-" she stopped herself the moment she realized, she wasn't Veronica anymore.
And now, with a clear of her throat, Adria crossed her legs, and locked her fingers.
"what brings you here, Mr. Axton?"
He pushed the door more open and walked in fully, making himself comfortable, by sitting in a chair opposite her.
"I came to find out, why the contract, suddenly got… terminated?"
She looked at Javen confusingly.
"And why are you meeting me, about this?"
In the contract, it clearly stated that he had it with the higher ups, and she had to give permit.
Which means he was yet to find out if she was the CEO or not.
"Aren't you the one, who controls here?" he asked with a cocked brow.
Adria began chuckling.
"forget the fact, that here may seem big… but unfortunately, I have no such status." She chuckled, her aura now giving off something else.
Power? Weakness? What? Deception.
"So what? I go and meet the, higher ups?"
"That's up to you, Mr. Axton." She gestured.
Dakota could only look at her, with an eye of suspicion.
Back at the reception… when he had asked if she was around… he hadn't gotten a clear look, but he was sure her hair, resembled it now.
He hummed slightly, now not believing her, even by the slightest.
"prepare a meeting with them, for me." He pushed his seat back, and got up, adjusting his suit finely, before heading for the door.
"I'm afraid, that meeting might have to be on, propone."
"And why?" he cocked a brow.
Tch… Adria nearly clicked her tongue.
Still as arrogant as before… but now, she was going to change it all.
"Mainly at the, fact that, they aren't in town now, and will be returning shortly." She forced on a smile.
"Is that so?" he glanced back at her.
"Mmm-hmm." Adira nodded, her smile still lasting.
"When they arrive… let me know." The door slammed shut, making a sigh out of her.
"What a hassle." Adria got up… massaging her cheek bones from, the smile the held on for so long.
Now that Dakota was gone, her real expression could be shown.
It was time to get work, done.
The rain, was heavy.
And Adria had been working for some time now, her mind too focused, for her to notice.
She had to find a way, to make the company even more powerful, than it already was.
It was her goal, to take it all down, and rebuild it, from scratch.
That way… Absolutely no one… Could own her, and she was going to make sure of it.
It was late.
But she had no plans, on leaving the place any time soon.
She was going to stay, and make sure things, were going, well.
The clock, read 9pm.
With a heavy sigh, she sat up.
It was then that a knock came.
And Javen entered, holding a file.
It seemed as if, it was going to be a long night, with the amount of work.
"What is that?"
Javen looked down at the file he held.
"This was sent by someone… They said it should be delivered straight to you." He handed her the papers, and took a bow, before leaving.
Adria sat down… Flipping the first page open, and reading g through it.
Hm… A delivery shipment huh? She thought.
She flipped the second page.
She was curious, as to, what it contained.
But the next few pages, were nothing but the details of the delivery, and the cost.
She had to approve the payment, for the delivery, to proceed.
She was going to wait, and see what it was.
If it was necessary, and important… then she was going to pay.
"Right… Javen." She called, and the male stepped in.
"Yes ma'am… You called?"
"We'll be expecting a delivery… Soon." He nodded, and took the papers that were, handed out to him.
"Understood." Javen turned around, and headed out the door.
Adria was now left alone, a yawn escaping her now.
She closed her eyes, and in that short period of time, an hour passed.
For how long has, she been working for exactly? Adria thought, few tears pricking her side eye, when a second yawn came, from her waking.
It was best to head home, before the storm got worse.
Adria got up, and approached for the door.
The hall was dimly lit, with no sign of anyone there.
"I wonder, if they are all home…" Adria walked to the elevator.
Surprisingly, Javen too was gone… how long has passed?
Adria asked as she pressed the button, waiting for it to open… her feet now softly tapping into, the cold floor.
The elevator usually didn't take this long… except someone was in it.
Sudden foot steps were heard, coming from her side.
Adira snapped her gaze to it, a sigh escaping her lips, the moment she realized who it was.
"Javen… Your still here, huh?"
He chuckled. "Did I startle you, by chance?"
"No… not at all." She looked back at the elevator, the doors, seemed to not have opened yet.
"What are you still doing here, by the way?" Adria asked, her tapping feet coming to an end.
"I forgot something, at my office." He suddenly brought out a wallet, flashing it in her front.
"Ah… Alright. Grate timing."
Then finally, the dinging sound took away her attention.
And as the elevator reached her floor, the door slid open, only for her to meet eyes, with a familiar figure.
Her eyes, widen… It was… The man in the picture!
