Amahle's pov

I took a deep breath and tried to think of a plausible story. "I'm not hiding anything, Xolani," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I'm just a student, trying to get through school." Xolani raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "Don't lie to me, Amahle," he said, his voice dripping with menace. "I know you're involved with something. And I'm going to find out what it is." I felt a surge of fear at his words, but I tried to stay calm. I knew I had to think of something, and fast. Suddenly, I heard a noise outside the room. It sounded like footsteps, heavy and deliberate. Xolani's head snapped up, and he looked at the door with a mixture of surprise and alarm.

The footsteps grew louder, and I could tell that whoever was making them was trying to be quiet. Xolani's eyes narrowed, and he stood up, his movements fluid and menacing. "Who's there?" he called out, his voice low and deadly. There was a pause, and then the door creaked open. A figure slipped inside, their eyes scanning the room before coming to rest on me. It was Themba, one of my friends from school. He looked worried and scared, but he also looked determined. "Amahle, I've been looking everywhere for you," he said, his voice low and urgent. "We have to get out of here, now." Xolani's eyes flashed with anger, and he took a step forward, his fists clenched. "You're not going anywhere," he snarled, his voice dripping with malice. Themba stood his ground, his eyes locked on Xolani. "We're not afraid of you," he said, his voice steady. "We're going to get out of here, and we're going to make sure you pay for what you've done." Xolani sneered, but I could see the faintest glimmer of uncertainty in his eyes. He wasn't used to people standing up to him, and he didn't know how to react. Themba took advantage of the momentary distraction to grab my arm and pull me towards the door. "Come on, Amahle," he said, his voice urgent. "We have to get out of here, now." I didn't need to be told twice. I followed Themba out of the room, leaving Xolani and his sinister plans behind. But as we emerged into the bright sunlight, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were far from safe.
