Chapter 8 - A GLIMMER OF HOPE

Evan's mind raced with the information Alex had shared. The idea of restoring balance and realigning energies felt daunting, but it was the only hope he had. As he lay in Sara's room, he replayed the conversation with Alex and Jaxon over and over in his mind.

The next morning, Evan woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside the window. He felt a sense of determination wash over him. He had to get to the bottom of this, no matter how difficult it might be. He decided to start by researching any phenomena that could explain his situation.

As Evan sat in Sara's room, a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. It was Adison, holding a tray of breakfast. "Good morning, Sara. I brought you something to eat."

Evan forced a smile. "Thank you, Adison. That's very kind of you."

Adison set the tray down and sat beside Evan. "How are you feeling today? Any better?"

Evan nodded. "A bit better, yes. Thank you."

Adison hesitated, then spoke softly. "Sara, there's something I need to talk to you about. It's Jaxon. I haven't felt good about his behavior the past few days."

Evan's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"

Adison's expression darkened slightly. "Last time Jaxon came here, he seemed too interested in you. He keeps trying to get close, and I don't trust his intentions."

Evan felt a surge of anger mixed with frustration. "Adison, Jaxon is just a friend. He's trying to help."

Adison's jaw tightened, and his tone grew harsher. "How can you make friends so quickly? You don't seem comfortable with me or your family, yet you're close to Jaxon?"

Evan couldn't take it anymore, his frustration boiling over. "I lost my memory, Adison! That's why I might seem distant. But I feel comfortable around Jaxon. Maybe it's because he doesn't treat me like I'm fragile."

Adison's eyes flashed with anger. "I'll ask the doctor why You're like this. This doesn't make sense."

Evan's voice trembled with anger. "Yes, Adison. Ask the doctor why I'm like this. Maybe they can explain why I feel more at ease with Jaxon."

Adison took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Alright, I will. I'll talk to the doctor."

Later that day, while Evan was resting in Sara's room, the rest of the family gathered in the living hall downstairs. As Evan came down the stairs quietly, he overheard their conversation.

Adison's voice carried through the hall. "I think this situation is just natural. No one is behind this accident."

Mr. Thompson replied with a serious tone, "How can you be so sure about this, Adison?"

Adison leaned forward, eager to make his point. "Why don't we think about this practically? Everyone has watched the CCTV footage. It was a normal accident."

Mr. Thompson's voice grew more intense. "That was not a normal accident. The boy is in a coma, and my daughter lost her memory. Also the police are investigating."

Adison continued, trying to convince them. "Yes, the police are investigating, but they're not giving us any solid response. We need to focus on what's in front of us."

Mrs. Thompson, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke up. "Adison is right. This situation happened, and right now, the most important thing is to take care of our daughter."

Adison smiled, feeling encouraged. "Exactly, Mrs. Thompson. We need to focus on Sara's recovery and stop getting entangled in the boy's family's drama."

Before Mr. Thompson could respond, Evan's anger boiled over. He came down the stairs, his voice trembling with rage. "What do you mean by 'the family drama,' Adison?"

Everyone turned to look at Evan, surprised by his sudden appearance. Adison's face paled slightly, and he stammered, "Sara, I... I didn't mean..."

Evan's eyes blazed with fury. "Don't you dare dismiss their pain as drama. That boy is fighting for his life, and his family is going through hell. Have some compassion, Adison!"

Mr. Thompson stepped forward, placing a hand on Evan's shoulder. "Sara, calm down. We understand you're upset."

Evan shook his head, his voice still trembling. "I won't calm down. This isn't just about us. We need to respect what they're going through too."

Mrs. Thompson looked at Adison, her expression softening. "Adison, maybe it's best if we all take a moment to think about this from all perspectives."

Adison nodded, his demeanor less confident. "You're right, Mrs. Thompson. I apologize if I came across insensitive. I'll try to be more understanding."

Evan took a deep breath, feeling a mix of anger and relief. He had to keep fighting, not just for himself, but for everyone affected by this tragedy. "I know why you're saying these things, Adison. It's because Jaxon has been here, helping me and making me happy. You don't like it, do you?"

Adison tried to control his temper, responding calmly, "No, Sara, that's not it. I just think everything that happened was natural. We shouldn't take everything so far."

Evan's voice grew firmer. "I get your intentions, Adison. But I'm going to meet Jaxon more and more. He's my friend."

Adison tried to calm Evan. "Fine, Sara, you can do whatever you want. I won't interfere."

Evan calmed himself down, though he felt uneasy inside. He didn't want to have this confrontation, but he needed to meet Jaxon. It was the only way he could work towards getting back to his own body and understanding Adison's intentions.

At that moment, the doorbell rang. The servants opened the door, and everyone was surprised to see Jaxon standing there.

Mrs. Thompson, surprised, asked, "What brings you here, Jaxon?"

Before Jaxon could reply, Evan stepped forward and said, "I called him. I hope no one has any problem with that."

Mr. Thompson responded warmly, "Don't worry, Sara. No one has any problem. Just do whatever makes you happy. Jaxon, come inside. We were just talking about you."

Jaxon smiled and replied, "That was unexpected, Mr. Thompson. What were you talking about me?"
