"Are you awake?"
That was Cal's voice. I opened my eyes and saw Cal looking down at me, he was so cute and I felt like dragging him close to me and kissing him passionately but, ouch! My head hurts. What happened to my head?
"You are awake" He smiled as he checked my temperature. "How are you feeling?"
"I am good but uncomfortable"
"Uncomfortable? Feeling pains?"
"No, you are too close"
"Oh, I didn't realize that" He adjusted and started smiling. "Are you feeling pain?"
"My head hurts"
"I'm so sorry that I let you get hurt. I will get you some aspirin meanwhile, the doctor is on his way to check you up"
"Doctor?"
'Yes, in case of any internal bleeding or so… so, Sidney, why didn't you scream for help knowing fully well you could get help from me and Jake?"
"First of all, please call the doctor to cancel, I am not about to get billed by the doctor"
"No need to worry, I will pay for that. You just need to get yourself checked up"
"I really appreciate that, sir"
"Call my Calvin please, or Cal"
I smiled, where is this heading? When a man asks you to call him by his name, he is obviously up to something.
"Can I talk to you about something? Not now though, maybe when you're fully recovered"
Hmm, I feel like he is going to ask me out, I need to be sure. "Is it work-related or based on what happened with those intruders?"
"Just to talk. I will be going today so, I don't know what it's going to be like. Do you have a phone or something? Though, it is not a phone conversation thing anyway."
Oh my goodness! This is it! He is going to ask me out on a date! I will say yes, what do you think? Give me one reason why I should say no. He is freaking hot!
"Ok, I would be expecting whichever way, I will give you my phone number before you go"
"Okay, Thanks! I would go check on Jake and Annie"
"Mrs. Annie is home?"
"Yes, she arrived not long ago"
"What a killjoy" Did I just say that out loud? Cal was looking at me weirdly, "I meant, Thank goodness, it's joyous!" He just smiled.
"You were out for hours," we see a car approaching through the window. "I think the doctor is here"
We hear a knock but in less than seconds, the door opened, "The doc… The doctor is here" Jake said looking at us. It was actually weird that we were together that way and conversing, I saw jealousy in his eyes and I felt guilty instantly. Is this a love triangle? I thought Jake didn't care or did I win his heart already?
"Okay," I responded.
"Alright," Cal said as he took my phone from my dressing table and dialed his number, "I am leaving now. See you later, Sidney, and take care of yourself" He waved at me and joined Jake whose countenance had dropped.
They both left and I was all on my own. Staring at pace and waiting for the next tragedy or joy of my life. The doctor came in together with Mrs. Annie. Mrs Annie was glaring at me as the doctor attended to me. Two things are involved, she is either angry at me that I didn't shut the doors like she asked Jake to tell me or because Jim had reported me.
She kept glaring till the doctor was done with me. She saw him off to the gate and came back to me with her squeezed face and I knew I was about to have a word fight with her.
