"You okay?"
Drake"s voice brought her back to her senses.
Harmony"s eyebrows were knitted together.
"Why are you here?" She said full of surprised.
"I am picking up my girlfriend," he casually said.
She closed her eyes and then put her hands on her forehead. Now, she realized what the mean girl was talking about.
Probably, she had seen her with Drake that"s why she was accusing her for doing such a thing towards Paul.
"Are you okay?" Drake asked again.
She nodded.
"I am sorry. It"s just—" she stopped and then shook her head. It was just a nonsense thing. "Shall we go?" She said instead. She wanted them to leave the place before even Cynthia and her friends saw her with Jake.
"Okay," Drake said and then he took the books that she was carrying.
Harmony could feel her heart beating fast again because of what the man did. How could he be this gentleman with his pretend girlfriend?
She exhaled. For how long would she be feeling like this whenever Drake does something for her? Things that even Paul never had done to her.
That was the sad truth that"s why every gesture of the man was very new to her.
She felt like her heart skipped a beat when she felt his hand holding her right hand.
Harmony felt all the gazes that were redirected to both of them. She knew that she was quite popular at school but Drake made her even more recognizable.She admitted that the man was not the typical man that she would be bumping into in her every day life.
He had that charm that no woman could resist. His black coal eyes that when looked at her, she felt like he was reading her very soul.
"Don"t mind them. Just continue walking," he said to her in a low voice just enough for the both of them to hear. "You have to get used to this kind of attention starting today because I am going to pick you up every now and then," he said.
She couldn"t help but stop from walking because of what the man said.
Then, she suddenly remembered about their contractual relationship.
She smiled at him.
"Okay. Don"t worry, I am not affected at all. When I am still with Paul, they are all giving me the same kind of look so it doesn"t really matter to me," she said and then she held his hand as well in front of the students in the hallway.
She didn"t know but there was an urge that made her do it shamelessly.
Drake smiled and she couldn"t help but gasped. He was really handsome.
"Alright, let"s go then," he said and then he put his hand on her shoulders.Harmony just let Drake do what he wanted as part of their plan. Probably, the man was just afraid that someone from his family might be having an investigation about them. Drake was paranoid that someone might know about their plan.
Finally, Drake and Harmony were already inside the car.
"So, where should we be going?" The man said, which surprised her.
"What do you mean?"
"We are going out. I will date my girlfriend," he said and then he started the car.
"God. I didn"t tell mom that I will be going home late and dad might get angry because of me being late for two consecutive nights," she couldn"t help but utter and then she realized everything she said.
She bit her lower lip and was shocked when she heard Drake"s laughter filled the whole car.
Harmony couldn"t help but wonder what was funny but the sound of his laughter was music to her ear. It was so real.
She couldn"t help but smile to herself. It was so different from the Drake that he saw that night he had introduced her to his family.
"What's so funny?" She said while her one eyebrow lifted."N— nothing," Drake said and then chuckled. "I am sorry. I mean I just find it so cute. You are grown up already but still you worry so much for failing to tell your mom that you will be home late," he said.
She shook her head. "Why not? I don"t have a key to our house so they might not open the door for me," she said. It was the truth.
Her dad never gave her a keyhouse. He said that would because she would be forced to go home early. He said to her that he would never open the door if she would come home late and she didn"t tell him. Since that day, she remembered that and never went home late without giving them a heads up.Drake shook his head and she could see that the man was trying to hold his laughter again.
"So, where are we really going?" She said full of curiosity.
"Where do you want to go? Do you want to have a cup of coffee?" Drake said.
"But not in the coffee shop that we met before," she said quickly.
Harmony saw in the rearview mirror when his eyebrows were drawn together and confused because of what she said.
"Look, I don"t want us to be there because I think someone is trying to spy on me," she said. "Someone even called me a gold digger," she said with bitterness. She felt bad for herself because of what had been spreading about her.
"Don"t mind them. "Do you have an idea who it is?" He said.
She shook her head. It was true though. She had no idea but she had a strong feeling that a pair of eyes was watching her.
Drake nodded.
"I see. Just don"t mind them like what I said. You will just get stressed if you think about them," he said.
"You are right. I just couldn"t believe what was spreading. Cynthia said that I broke up with Paul because of you," she said without thinking.
