Drake left their house after they had dinner. And Harmony was left alone in her room.
Those words that the man uttered earlier when they were with her mom, she didn"t know why but it brought a warm feeling inside her heart.
How she wished those were true.
She let out a deep sigh and then got up.
She took a cotton and then put on makeup removal.
"Harmony," she called herself while looking at her reflection in the mirror. "Don"t raise your hopes up. Drake and you are just in a contractual relationship. No strings attached. Just purely business. So, better you guard your heart. You cannot fall in love with that guy. Remember, the rules," she said, even widened her eyes to give emphasis to everything that she was saying.
"But? How? I don"t know what"s happening but I feel so different because of all the gestures that he is showing to me," she said in a low voice to herself while she continued to remove her makeup.
It never entered her mind that she and Drake would be this close. He was rude and conceited so how come that he was seeing a different kind of Drake.
A knock on the door brought her back to reality.
"Come in," she said.
The door opened and her mother came inside her room.
"How are you, dear?" She asked.
Her eyebrows were drawn together as she applied her face cream because of her mother"s question.
"I am fine, mom. Why?" She couldn"t help but ask because they had just been together. And, why was she asking how she was? It was so obvious that she was fine."Are you sure?" She said.
"Yes, mom," she said and nodded. She turned around and faced her mother.
"Why are you asking? How about you? Are you okay?" She asked one after the other.
She smiled at her. Her eyes were full of love and concern for her.
"I am okay, dear. I am sorry if I asked. You have been going home so late recently and I didn"t have any chance to speak with you so I just want to make sure," she said and smiled. "I am happy that you are with Drake. He is really a nice guy," she added. She nodded at her mother. Harmony couldn"t agree more on what her mother said.
She was right. Drake was one of those people whom your parents would want to date. But suddenly, she stopped. She couldn"t help but wonder if her mother knew that Drake was a Villarama.
"Mom, how did you two get close? I mean, if you were his tour guide in Italy—"
"Yes, I know what you mean," she said as she cut her off. Then, she sat properly on the bed. "So, let me tell you how I met that good man."
"I don"t but maybe because I don"t have a son and Drake was longing for a mother. So, while we were there, I treated her like my own son so that"s why I told him everything about you. And, in return, he treated me like his own mother. I couldn"t remember how long he had stayed there but when he left, he said that we will surely see each other again," she answered.
She was nodding. So, based on everything that she heard from her mother and from the discussion when Drake introduced her to his family, it seemed that Villarama had an issue with his mother.
"Did he tell you about his mom?" She couldn"t help but ask. She didn"t know it was not her being nosy but she was just curious."No, dear. He didn"t. But I could just feel it. He never said anything about her but I know that he was going through something during that time," Catalina answered.
"I see."
She couldn"t help but feel bad for the man. Harmony knew how hard it was to be away from her mother. So, probably, that could be the reason why he was rebelling from his family.
She really could be a detective on how smart she could connect everything that happened to Drake and knew the possible issues as to why his family was treating the way she saw that night.Grandma but his father and her Aunty who shamed him in front of her. They didn"t hold their mouths and even thought about what Drake would feel. She couldn"t imagine how they could say everything that they had said.
She shook her head while she clenched her fist. She would do everything to help Drake get what he deserved.
"What"s wrong?" Her mother said while her eyebrows were knitted together.
"Huh?" She said and then she noticed that she was clenching her fist.
"Are you okay? You suddenly looked like you were angry or what," her mother said while looking at her full of confusion.
"Oh, sorry, mom. I just remembered something," she said. Then, she yawned as if saying to her mom that she was already sleepy because she didn"t know where their conversation would be going.
She was afraid that her tongue might slip and she might tell her about the contract that she had with Drake. That contract was the last thing that should be known to her family and Drake"s family.
She knew that if that secret would be unveiled, Drake would be in big trouble. She was afraid that the man might be disowned by his family. That"s the last thing that should happen. Drake should be able to get what was rightfully his.
"Oh, okay. I better get going so you can have your sleep. Take a rest and you still have class tomorrow. I will see you tomorrow morning. Good night," she said and then she walked in her direction. Just like what she was always doing since she came back home, she would hug her so tight and then she would tell her how much she loved her.
