"You know this can"t be, dad," Drake said with a dimmed face at his dad. His jaws were tense as he couldn"t imagine what they were saying to him.
He tried so hard to control his emotions.
"She is just your girlfriend, and you have to understand that this is for the company. How can you take over if this simple thing you cannot do?" Mr. Villarama said while looking at Drake.
Drake smiled sarcastically.
"Seriously? This is simple for you?Oh, come on! You are trying to manipulate my life. What do you think about marriage?" He said to him with his voice a bit raised.
His father shook his head.
"Wow, I cannot believe in your reputation, you are reacting like this," Drake"s father said to him.
Drake looked at his father sharply.
" I am not like you. Marriage is still a marriage. Don"t involve me with your crazy decisions in life," he said and then he stood up and was about to leave the room when his father spoke again.
"You know you cannot run away from this because this is an agreement between the business. It"s for us to have strong connections and our company to expand," he said.
"I cannot believe you, dad. Don"t you trust your skills and you really have to be in this kind of agreement?" He said full of disbelief in his voice.
"No, I am just making sure," he said and then shook his head. He didn"t hide the dismay that he felt because of what his father said to him. "There will be no marriage that would be happening. If there is then it would be between me and Harmony. No one else," he added in a firm voice.
His father looked at him full of disbelief in his eyes.Drake left the room and then he banged the door.
His dad was just unbelievable. How could he arranged his marriage to a person he barely knew? What the heck was he even thinking? There"s no way that he would agree with that even if would mean that he had to ask Harmony to marry him.
But he was frozen. Would Harmony even agree with what he would be asking her?
His mind was in turmoil. For him marriage was sacred but he couldn"t believe that because of his father, marriage would be a contract.
He took a deep breath while he was walking out of their mansion. They were rich and they could have everything money that could buy but they were all pathetic.
His dad and his Aunty were just unbelievable because of their love with their wealth, it looked like they were willing to sacrifice his freedom and his life.
There"s no way that he would allow them to take over his life and decide for him.
"Drake," his grandmother"s voice stopped him from going out of the mansion.
"Where are you going? Are you busy?" She asked while looking at him.Probably, she already heard what they had discussed in the study room.
He smiled at the old woman.
"Hi, grandma. How are you?" He greeted her and then he started to turn his back and walked towards her direction.
"I am good," she answered. "Can you go to the study room? I just want to speak with you about something," she added.
Why all of the people in this house wanted to talk to him?
Drake couldn"t help but think this was again about the arranged marriage that he declined. It must be his father. He must have told his grandmother that he didn"t agree with what he was talking about.
And he was sure that there was no way for him to agree even if it would be his grandmother that would be talking to him about it.
He had his own ways on how to make the company grow and expand. He couldn"t just understand why his father and his Aunty couldn"t trust him.
This was also one of the reasons why he couldn"t get his inheritance. They told his grandmother that he was not serious about their business which was absolutely a lie. He was so interested that he wanted to have an innovation. But his father and his Aunty disagreed with his plan that"s why they don"t want him to take over.
"Okay, grandma. What is this about?" He asked.
"I will tell you once we are inside the study room," she said and then she continued walking with her cane.
His grandmother was eighty-five years old and yet she was strong. Sometimes, she would be sitting in her wheelchair or sometimes, she would be walking with her cane. In this house, she was the most reasonable person that Drake knew he could talk to.
After a couple of minutes walking, he and his grandmother were already inside the study room.
"Maybe you are wondering why I wanted to talk to your privately," his grandmother started.
Drake couldn"t help but feel strange and at the same time his heart started to beat fast. Why did he feel it was a different thing from what his father discussed to him?
"Yes, Grandma. You are making me feel nervous. What is it?" He said and he was thankful that he didn"t stutter while talking.
His grandmother looked at her intently in the eyes. He felt like her eyes were passing through his soul.He took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"So, you really don"t have any idea? Are you sure?" The old woman asked again as if she wanted him to say something even if she wouldn"t ask a question.
"Is this about the arranged marriage that Dad said to me? There"s no way that I am going to do that, grandma. I am sorry. Even if it would be you that would be talking to me about it, my answer would remain no," he said in a firm voice.
"It"s not about that, Drake. It"s about you and Harmony."
