"Grandma, you can"t be serious with this," Drake said while his eyebrows were almost touching each other"s end. "I don"t know what Harmony"s reaction with would be this one. Look, she is still studying," he added. He was hoping that his grandmother would understand the situation.
What kind of family did he have? Why they were the ones who were putting him in a hard situation? Like he was not given any choice but to do what they wanted.
He looked at his grandmother with his eyes begging. But he saw her as she shook her head.
"That"s it. Get married to Harmony or let yourself tied to that arranged marriage. Your choice," the old woman said in a firm voice as if her decision wouldn"t change no matter what he would say and then after that she turned her back.
Drake just heard the sound of the closing door. He was left alone inside the study room and felt like the weight of the whole world was on his shoulders.
He never thought that he would be in this kind of situation. How could he tell Harmony that the terms had changed, and they need to get married?
He could already imagine what would be the woman"s reaction.
He wiped his hands on his face because of the frustration that he was feeling.
He couldn"t believe that even his grandmother would put him in a situation that he wouldn"t have any choice but to do what they wanted.
Marriage? This word was so sacred for him, and he couldn"t just marry anyone like it was something that could be done every day in a person"s life.
And he even if he admitted that he was a playboy and he was not taking any relationship seriously, getting married was a different thing for him which these people couldn"t understand.
Drake went out of the study room with his shoulders sagged. Instead of going of the house, he went back in his room. He was not in the mood to go out.
On top of that, he didn"t know what to say with Harmony. He didn"t want to shock her with his news. He knew very well how the woman would react and he didn"t want to get offended with her reaction.
He closed his eyes as he lied down his bed. Everything was so unclear to him. His father wanted him to marry someone he hasn"t even met and while his grandmother wanted him to marry Harmony. For her, it was his best choose because in her eyes, they were in a relationship.
Not knowing that it was all just a show. They were not in a romantic relationship but only a contractual relationship. Though he must admit that there were times that he wished that they could just make everything real. But he knew that it was so impossible.
Harmony loved her ex-boyfriend. He couldn"t believe that she still loved Paul after everything that the man had done to her.
Drake didn"t notice that he already dozed off.
He checked his mobile phone as soon as he woke up but there was no message from Harmony. He couldn"t help but wonder why the woman didn"t even send a message to him. Was she not even wondering why he didn"t visit her?
Suddenly, he felt like his heart was pounding so fast. What if Paul and Harmony already got back together? What would happen to their plans?
He let out a deep sigh. Why was he so negative?
Drake suddenly felt like he didn"t want to go out from his room. He felt like nobody really wanted him as him. They wanted him to pretend based on what they wanted him to be.
It"s just so hard. He had a lot of things in his mind that he wanted to do but he couldn"t simply because his family didn"t want to.
His life sucks.
Drake took a deep breath and decided to get off the bed. He couldn"t stay any longer alone or else he would lose his mind.
He quickly took his jacket and then went out of his room.
Before he could get out of the house, he saw the other family members in the living room, and it looks like everyone was waiting for the dinner to be prepared.
"Where are you going, Drake?" Aunty Carmela asked him.
He just looked at him. Since when did she care where he was going?
He couldn"t help but feel disappointed. What about his cousins? They could do everything they wanted.
He continued to walk out of the mansion without answering his Aunty. He didn"t want to waste his time talking to her because he knew that he would just convince him to marry that girl that his father was talking about.
"Look at your son, Nelson. Where are his manners? Would you just really let him go just like that?" He heard his Aunty turned to his father. But he didn"t care.
They were all the same. They never thought about how he would feel. Everyone in the family thought that they were better than him so be it.
If they wanted him to distance himself from them then he would give it to them.
He shook his head while he was walking towards his car"s direction.
Drake thought if it would be fine if he would go at Harmony"s place. But it was a bit late, and they might wonder why he was there. He let out a deep sigh as he got inside his car and then started the engine. With a confused mind, he drove away from their mansion.
He was torn with everything that was happening. If he was to ask, he would like to just marry Harmony but the thing was, would Harmony like the idea of getting married to him?
He knew her very well. She was so in love with Paul and she only agreed with their agreement because she wanted the man to get jealous.
