Harmony"s eyebrows were drawn together. Based on the way that she looked, Drake could see that she was not okay. She seemed to be upset.
He saw a man standing in front of their table. And, the figure even if he was just seeing his back, he already had an idea who it was.
So, he didn"t waste any time. He went quickly to where the woman was.
"How dare you date another man? It isn"t a month yet since we broke up and look at you. You are already hooking up with someone else," the man said to Harmony with a dimmed face.
Harmony scoffed. Disbelief was all over the face of the woman.
"Seriously? And, what do you expect me to do? Cry over you? Jeez," she said mockingly while shaking her head.
"You! I thought you are different from other girls but I am wrong," he said and then he turned to the woman that was looking at them. "Let"s go, babe. I think I just made the right decision to choose you over this woman," he added and then they continued walking.
The shock was all over Harmony"s face.Drake saw that she was frozen and she just followed the man who walked away from her with her eyes.
"Are you okay?" He said full of concern.
He saw how the woman took a deep breath and then she turned to him as she forced a smile on her face.
"Who"s that? What did he want from you?" He said even if he knew who the man was. It was her ex-boyfriend. The man who just dumped her a couple of weeks ago and the reason why Harmony met him. He had been the way for their contractual relationship to exist.
But before Harmony could even open her mouth, he saw tears fall from her eyes. It was just a silent cry.
Drake quickly put the food they ordered on the top of the table and sat down near her. He rubbed her shoulders to comfort her.
He didn"t know what to say because he never comforted any woman before.
But deep inside him, he wanted to embrace the woman and let her cry on his shoulders. He felt like his heart was tightening because Harmony was crying.
He couldn"t understand himself because he seemed to be so affected with how the woman was crying so hard by his side.Drake let out a sigh and without a word.
He embraced her and then he rested her head on his shoulders. He let her cry her out.
Drake didn"t say anything. He just wanted to let her out everything that was inside her.
Harmony was so different from the woman he had seen at the coffee shop to whom he offered his proposal.
Today, she was like any other woman who had been broken by her man. She was so vulnerable. It didn"t escape his eyes when pain crossed her eyes as the man turned his back with the woman standing beside him.Drake heard Harmony sniffing and her cry was no longer that loud and hard.
She distanced herself to him and then he was just looking at her.
Just like earlier, he felt like there was no word that he could say. He knew that there was no word or phrase to ease a broken heart.
"I—- I am sorry if I cried," she finally said in a cracked voice.
She bowed her head as if she couldn"t look at him straight in the eyes.
"Hey, it"s okay. Are you alright?" He asked. He wanted to punch himself because it was obvious that the woman was not okay and still he asked what was obvious.
Harmony nodded her head.
"I am fine. I am sorry because of me, your shirt got wet," she said and then she looked at his shoulders.
He smiled.
"It"s really fine. Don"t mind me," he said. "Oh, come on, let"s start eating the food," he added and then he stood up. He sat down on the opposite chair in front of Harmony.
He put the blueberry cheesecake, carrot cake and the cream cheese cake near her.
"For the lady in front of me," he said and then smiled at him.
"Thank you," she said and then she was just the one who took her Java Chips coffee.
They ate the food silently. Drake didn"t bring up the topic of who the man was and why Harmony cried.
Drake felt sorry for the woman because of what happened. He knew that she had been feeling so sad because of how she had been dumped by the man she loved and then suddenly, she"d see him with another woman.
He wanted to blame himself because he brought her here. Maybe, if he didn"t Harmony wouldn"t see her asshole ex-boyfriend. "Do I have dirt on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?" She said with her eyebrows furrowed.
"I am sorry. I cannot just help it," he said and then chuckled.
"What"s so funny?" She said in a pissed tone. "Drake, you"re starting with me again," she added and then she took out her mirror on her bag.
"I wonder what else you have in your bag. Maybe, you have all the stuff in your house?" He said and then laughed. "I feel like girls have magic. They could carry everything everywhere."
"Whatever, Drake. So, why are you looking at me earlier? I don"t have any dirt in my face," she said. "It"s nothing," he said and then he took a sip of his coffee.
He was watching Harmony as she took a bite in her food. It was with poise even how she held her cup of coffee.
Drake couldn"t help but think why the man made her cry. She could see that she was kind and she was really a good daughter to her parents. He had proven that because Ms. Catalina was so proud of her.
