"Good morning, dear! How"s your sleep?" Her mother greeted her in a lively voice which made her eyebrows knitted together.
She couldn"t be mistaken. She could feel something else behind that tone and her smile which was ear to ear.
She sat down at the dining table and then she took a piece of bacon and took a bite of it.
Since her mother came back, she never skipped breakfast anymore before going to school for her masters degree. She was studying as a business management student and she planned to build her own business once she graduated and that"s why she also grabbed Drake"s offer.
It would give her a significant head start on her goal.
She filled her glass with fresh milk and then took toasted bread.
"Thank you for this yummy breakfast, mom," she said and smiled at her. "I am sorry. I was so hungry when I woke up," she apologized.
"Yeah, it was not so obvious," her mother said in a teasing tone. "Looked like you enjoyed last night."
She nodded. Just a bit.
"Oh, by the way, how did you meet Drake?" Her mother said which made her food stop in the middle of the air.
She didn"t expect her to ask this question.
She quickly recovered from the surprise and she acted like she didn"t hear her.
Harmony was silently praying that she wouldn"t repeat her question.
"Where did you go last night? How was it?" To her dismay, her mother seemed to be insisting for her to tell her about her date with Drake.
"It"s good, mom. I am sorry if I arrived late and I was unable to tell you that I am coming home late," she said without answering her question properly.
She didn"t want to lie to her about how she met Drake but if she kept on asking, she wouldn"t have a choice but to make up a story and then she would just have to tell Drake about it.
Her mother nodded on what she said and it was as if she didn"t feel that she was uninterested with the topic and she was trying to avoid it because she continued speaking while serving the rest of the food that they have for breakfast.
She didn"t know why she seemed to be happy and at ease knowing that she was with Drake. What"s with the man?
"You know what? Drake is a very good man. I met him in Italy. I have been his tour guide and I couldn"t describe his kindness," she said and then she smiled at her. "I am glad that you are friends with good people."
"Yes, mom. I mean, I don"t have lots of friends but I see to it I have those good ones," she said and drank her milk. "Alright mom, I better get going or else I might be late in my first class," she said and then grabbed her bags and her books. Then went out of their house without waiting for her mother"s response.
Harmony just got on time. She still had ten minutes before her period started. She just entered the gate of the campus when she accidentally bumped into someone as she was fixing her books.
"I— I am sorry," she said and then she picked up her books that fell on the ground and the man did the same.
When she lifted her head, she saw that the man was no other than her ex-boyfriend, Paul.
She didn"t know what exactly she should be feeling. This was the first time that she had seen him after their break up.
It seemed that the man really made a way to avoid her but he was not lucky today since he bumped into her.
She decided to hold her chin up high. She snatched her books from him and then walked straight heading to her next class without saying a word.
There"s nothing that she should be saying to the man who had left her without any valid reason.
He only said he woke up one day that he was not already in love with her as if it was something that could happen overnight.
She just felt that the man couldn"t just tell her the reason why but she had a strong feeling that one of these days, she would definitely know what"s the reason why he broke up with her.
It couldn"t be just that.
The stares that the girl students didn"t escape were in her eyes. It seemed that they already knew that she and Paul already broke up.
Some were staring at her as if she couldn"t see them and some were even whispering.
She just continued walking while she shook her head and then rolled her eyes. She just had to remember that these were still college students and she was already taking her material.
She should act more maturely than them.Harmony just walked fast as she headed to her class. And, just like in the hallway, most of the students were looking at her and she couldn"t figure out what was running through their minds.
She let out a deep sigh and instead of thinking about them, she just decided to open a book and read it while waiting for their instructor.
She knew that Paul was popular because he was a member of the theater club but she never expected this kind of reaction from the people around them.
Their eyes were saying something like she did something that was so bad. Some couldn"t remove their gazes to her even if she already looked at them.
"Oh, God! What"s happening? This is just so weird," she said and then she continued reading her book.
These students should just mind their own business because whatever running inside their mind, she didn"t give a damn.
She had been reading her book for a couple of minutes when she suddenly heard a woman clearing her throat in front of her.
Harmony that the woman was looking at her and so she lifted her head.
"So, after breaking up with Paul, you really have to jump into another man"s lap?"
