Chapter 3 - Arranged for marriage

As the girl stood before her father, she felt a sense of déjà vu wash over her. She had been in this exact situation before, and she knew how it had played out. But this time, she was determined to do things differently.

Unlike her former life, where she had defied her father and refused to marry the man he had chosen for her, this time she decided to accept her fate. She knew that it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to make the best of it.

"Father, I understand your wishes," she said, her voice calm and respectful. "I will marry the man you have chosen for me."

Her sister, Elena, looked at her in shock. "Vanya, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. "You can't just accept this. You have to fight for what you want."

But the girl just smiled. She knew that her sister didn't wish the best for her. Vanya had always been the rebellious one, the one who defied their father's rules and expectations. But the girl had learned that sometimes, it was better to accept and adapt, rather than to fight and resist.

"Elena, I appreciate your concern," she said. "But I've thought this through. I'll make the best of this situation, and I'll find a way to be happy."

Her father's face lit up with approval. "That's my good girl," he said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "I knew you'd see things my way."

As the girl nodded and smiled, she felt a sense of resignation wash over her. She knew that she had just sealed her fate, and that her life was about to take a dramatic turn. But she was determined to make the best of it, to find a way to be happy in a situation that she didn't choose.

As the scene played out, the girl's mind was racing with thoughts of the future. She knew that she would have to navigate the complexities of her arranged marriage, and find a way to build a life with a man she didn't love. But she was determined to do just that, to find a way to thrive in a situation that seemed impossible.

Vanya trudged up the stairs, her feet heavy with the weight of her thoughts. She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she was alive. The memories of her past life were still hazy, but she knew that she had died. And yet, here she was, back in her childhood home, reliving the moments that had led up to her demise.

As she reached the top of the stairs, she heard a soft voice calling out to her. "Vanya, dear, I'm so glad you're okay." Elena's voice was laced with concern, but Vanya knew better. She knew that Elena was faking it, that she was only pretending to care.

Vanya walked into her room, Elena following close behind. Elena's eyes were wide with sympathy, but Vanya could see the calculation behind them. Elena hugged her tightly, holding her close. "Why did you agree to marry him, Vanya?" she asked, her voice trembling. "He's a cripple, and you don't even love him."

Vanya pursed her lips, watching Elena with a critical eye. She knew that Elena was trying to manipulate her, to make her defy their father and marry someone else. But Vanya wasn't going to fall for it. She remembered how Elena had always been the one to stir up trouble, to make their father angry with her.

Elena's expression changed, and she looked at Vanya with a concerned expression. "Vanya, don't you remember Emrys?" she asked, her voice soft. "He loved you so much, and you loved him too. Why are you giving up on him like this?"

Vanya's expression didn't change, but inside, she sneered. Emrys. The name brought back memories of pain and betrayal. She remembered how Emrys and Elena had repeatedly humiliated her, having sex in front of her and jeering at her. She remembered how they had killed her, leaving her to die in a pool of her own blood.

Vanya's eyes locked onto Elena's, and for a moment, she thought she saw a flicker of guilt. But it was quickly replaced by a look of concern. "Vanya, please reconsider," Elena said. "You're making a mistake. You're throwing away your chance at happiness."

But Vanya just shook her head, feeling a sense of resignation wash over her. She knew that she had made her decision, and that she would have to live with the consequences. She didn't say anything, just turned and walked away, leaving Elena standing alone in the room.
