Amber boarded a taxi. She wondered why Jai had chosen the restaurant he picked out of all the other best restaurants. She walked up to where Jai was sitting alone on a table. She brought out the chair slightly without any word.
"Good evening Mr Robert". She said after she balanced herself on the chair opposite him.
"I thought you would never make it". Jai said, lifting up his face with a smile.
"You look better tonight than the previous time I met you". Jai said, a smile playing on his lips.
"Oh, thanks". Amber blushed.
He called out to the waitress who presented the list of all the available orders. He handed the menu to Amber.
Amber glances through the menu for a few seconds, she lifted up her hand and faced the waitress.
"I would like to have some frescho and salads". She said, handing over the menu to Jai.
"There's no need for that, get us the same recipe". Jai said, facing the waitress.
"And also some bottle of beers". He said.
The waitress arrived with two plates of the recipe other in less than a minute and two bottle of beers as Jai has ordered.
"Get me something soft, I'm not into alcohols". Amber said before the waitress could leave.
"Really?". Jai shrugged.
The look on his face could tell clearly that he doubted what Amber had just said.
"There's no need for it, she is only pessimistic". Jai said.
"You are unbelievable". Amber said, Jai had just referred to her as pessimist which she believed not to be true.
"Be quiet". Jai said, his voice commanding.
"You might get choked if you keep speaking while eating". He said, picking up the fork which was laid beside the plate.
They eat quietly for few minutes before Amber broke the long silence that might had seemed forever.
"Why do you have to choose this place amongst all the other restaurants around?". She asked, her face still bent to the meal before her.
"The meals here is so great, I've been here several times". Jai said, his gaze fixed on her.
"I could tell that you enjoyed the meal". He said, taking in a spoon of salad, a smile on his cheeks.
"Maybe a little". She said, his gaze still fixed at the meal.
"You are really opportune to gain employment in such a wonderful company". Jai said
"What?". Amber choked, she coughed for a few seconds, immediately grabbing the can of water and the table and gulped down heavily.
"Did I say something wrong?". Jai asked after she had dropped the can of water.
"No, I think I swallowed it wrongly". She said, wiping her lips with the little towel on the table.
"Why do you think so?". She said with surprise in her eyes.
"I have had a lot of appointments with them and I can say that they are doing great at everything they get involved in". Jai said, sipping a bit from the gas if drink.
"By the way, what's your office holding?". He asked.
"Ohhh me?". Amber said, acting unaware of the question. Jai nodded his head in response.
"I normally carry out the designation of projects and just help with some tasks". She said,
"Then your company must be opportune to have a great architect like you". Jai said with a smile.
"Then you must know how to design a building construction and superintend it also". Jai suggested.
"Yeah a little". Amber said, trying not to be boastful.
"What about you working with my company on our next project?". Jai offered.
"Oh!". Amber exclaimed in surprise.
"The decision is all yours, think about it. You could also be able to secure employment and can be incharge of all construction activities". He said, his voice cold and persuasive.
"Why are you giving me a contract out of the blue? We just met a few days ago and you want to offer me a favor". Amber said, her voice shaky.
"Oh, let me just say". He paused, a smile on his lips.
"Never mind". He snapped.
"Never mind!". Amber exclaimed.
"Why should I not?".
"Let's just say, I feel like we have met before". Jai said.
"You must be mistaken, I can't even recall ever meeting you once until that night". Amber said, her voice was anxious.
"That was some time ago, so I guess I'm the one making the mistake". He chuckled softly.
"Then we go build up together and make a fresh start". Amber said, her eyes brightened up with a slight smile on her cheeks.
Amelia let out a huge sigh, she was finally done with the schedule before her. Stepping into the office, she placed the file on the table. Fred, lifted up his head to see Amelia before him.
"Here's the analysis". She said immediately before he could utter a word, turning around to leave.
"Is this an accurate analysis?". Fred asked.
"Yes".
"Wait". Fred called out to her.
"How has your work been going?". He asked.
*That was a ridiculous question Amelia was not expecting*.
"It's fine". She said reluctantly.
"You can call on me if you need any help". Fred said, his voice soft.
"That would not be necessary". Amelia said, her voice cold and harsh.
"Then take good care of your family". He said, a smile on his cheeks.
"I would take my leave". Amekua said, pretending not to hear his last statement.
Amelia let out a huge sigh, turning around to leave. She wondered what he was playing at but it seemed to her that he was up to no gain.
Amelia stood at the pedestrian walkway hoping she could grab a taxi, it was already getting late and there seemed to be no cab or taxi forthcoming .
Amelia lifted up her head at the sight of the brightness of the light of the car which drove towards where she stood, the window of the passenger seat was rolled down.
"Get in!". Jai commanded her from were he sat, holding onto the steering wheel.
